Stephen Colbert brings his signature satire and comedy to THE LATE SHOW with STEPHEN COLBERT, the #1 show in late night, where he talks with an eclectic mix of guests about what is new and relevant in the worlds of politics, entertainment, business, music, technology and more. Featuring bandleader Louis Cato and “THE LATE SHOW band,” the Peabody Award-winning and Emmy Award-nominated show is broadcast from the historic Ed Sullivan Theater. Stephen Colbert took over as host, executive producer and writer of THE LATE SHOW on Sept. 8, 2015.
Whenever John Oliver comes on as a guest, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert needs to be extended to a two-hour special with no other guests. I love to see these two friends together just talking about whatever comes to mind. They never fail to make me smile.
☝️all of this
Where do we sign?
So, what you're saying is, this is a high... altitude, conversation?
add in John Stewart, and dear lord have mercy on my ribs
@@mustafa1name ... high velocity
He's aged like a president in office
To be fair, most people aged 10 years during 2016 to 2020.
I went from early 40s to mid 50s in that span.
He probably did more for politics and diplomacy than the "president" between 2017-2021.
I've regained my youth since 2020.
or like a fine wine
Love John’s face at the end when Stephen tells him they’ve got to go…. He wants to keep sitting there and joking live with him. Adorable.
That beautiful, _beautiful_ man... 😻😹
It's like when your parents arrived to pick you up from a friend's house as a kid. Like, "Ahh Mom, come on!" energy 🤣
He also doesn't want "high velocity balloons" to be his last joke lol
"I'm against corporate synergy in all of its most convenient forms" will be a T-shirt by the end of the day.
Great!
Fighting against evil in all of its forms is the tag line for the Phantom, a 1930s era comic strip, film serials an movie starring Billy Zane
TAKE
MY
MONEY!!!!
You’ve displeased our corporate masters!
But what would you call it when a host from one network is interviewed by a host from another network?
Just because of this interview, John should say on the first episode this weekend "our main story tonight concerns high-velocity balloons".
Hahaha, and Colbert was almost buying into it too !
And then Stephen comes barging in or emerges from beneath the desk like Stewart does when Colbert has him over.
There is a thing called the jet stream which occurs at high altitude and things do move faster because of this
The way John wiggles all around uncontrollably when he's laughing, he can't contain himself when trying to fool his friend. lol I love it! You guys are so cute together and I look forward to the conversations. For real, I'd watch an hour of this.
I love their friendship. I need an hour long special of the pair of them just chatting shit.
Them just drinking scotch an talking shit. :P
Hopefully Puke and Puke can drink themselves to death
Nobody else gets a bit of contempt from Colbert? Like a friendly one? I know he has to be jealous for those Emmys.

When John Oliver visits, all I can think about is the fact that these videos are never long enough. I could sit and watch these two giggle for the rest of eternity.
Bless these 2 men. Having them together, making each other laugh and me, rejuvenates my heart and soul
I live for these videos. Colbert + Oliver laughing together is how I know the world is alright, at least for now.
Absolutely..u feel hope for a lil while ... Hey,it's cray cray in a good way.✌️
So you don't mind Colbert making trips to Epstein island?
@@briandstephmoore4910 That's complete bs. Never happened.
@repentandbelieveinJesusChrist2 I'd rather hail satan. Take your invisible asshole in the sky and go preach to a demographic that actually gives a damn about how women should be subjugated and how people who think differently than you will burn in an eternal hellfire.
@repentandbelieveinJesusChrist2 Or don't.
IT's all good, some believe, some don't, doesn't make anyone better or worse.
I always really love when these two just go off. It just makes everything funnier.
The way John cut him off on the horse theft thing felt so last week tonight like
That's also why I loved it when he had Steve Carell on. We really need an episode where they're both his guests at the same time, they'd be laughing so hard and going off on so many tangents they'd never make it back to the main topic.
What an honor to have John for a citizen.
"dual-citizen" ;)
@@iansavage310 Okay it’s half an honor.
@@rjwh67220 she carries hte camo
“Do you actually want to talk about this?” - 😂 big sleepover energy lol
They are literal fifth graders when they're together. Stephen's living it up with John's new ad, and as John is answering his question about why he doesn't have bangs anymore, he's doodling his bangs on the ad.
The "Oh, come on!!" from John at the end says it all. It's all just so much fun, you don't want it to end.
John tried to pull a fast one but Steven is a veteran . Although they were never at the Daily Show together, you can see the bond of that show links them at a soul level
what was he trying to pull, though?
@@drangundsturm He said high-velocity balloon when he meant high-altitude balloon and then tried to get away with it haha
*Stephen
I thought maybe HVB was some kind of naughty initialism.
I mean.... You put a HAB into the jet stream and they go quite fast. I did one in college that clocked in at around 170mph @ 100,000 ft.
John Oliver is totally adorable. He and Stephen need a one hour show.
They're both very quick and can feed off the other.
Self deprecation is an art. John Oliver could give classes, I love that type of humor 🤣!
I need a podcast with these two guys, I would listen to every episode!
The bugle podcast archive , might even be better!
@@LegoList Is an absolute joy, and there's hundreds of hours of it!
even after John leaves, it still continues to be wonderful.
I see John...and I click on it.
as do I so you've presumably already seen John with Seth. but if not, I highly recommend all of their talks. If possible, it's even better than with Colbert, cuz Seth doesn't even try to reign John in (them together the day before the covid shutdown and John visiting Seth again once guests could return were both hilariously off the rails)
I needed this interview to go on for another hour
John never fails to make me laugh. What a treasure.
I love these two together. I would literally watch a show of the two of them sitting around talking about whatever they felt like for two hours a pop.
I'd love nothing more than to work this friendship long and hard until it explodes all over the home screen of Peacock. But the media must be discreet, Jon.
As always, obsessed with their chemistry. The way John didn't even want it to end
I don't care about Ron Klain. I want three more hours of John and Stephen talking about anything.
Needs to be a podcast. Colbert & Oliver talk about everything
My thoughts exactly
We need a Stewart-Oliver-Colbert-Carell roundtable on the regular. Those four are all such great friends and brilliant minds. I'd love to see them all sit in a room and bullshit about whatever comes to mind for an hour or two once a month or so.
That is something that I would watch.
Replace Carrell with someone who is actually funny unscripted
These should be the only 4 people in the world allowed to have a podcast
@@saar144 Aww no reason to cast aspersions at Carrell simply because of the brilliance of Oliver and Colbert. 😞I do get what you're saying though!
@@saar144 Meyers
John Oliver, an international treasure!
I could watch Stephen and John banter for hours and always be entertained, just off the rails about any and every subject.
I usually don't watch the interviews but when I do it's when john oliver is on.
Colbert is brilliant and funny as one can be. Oliver is witty and clever as any Brit can be. Holy Cow. What a great duo. Must see, people!
Jon can see things about Steven that no other guests pick up on lol. He knows him so well and that is why it's funny.
These two are like brothers who REALLY love each other, but will never forget the Christmas incident of 1986, & use it to get a rise out of each other at every family gathering since.
John is great on his own show. But he‘s such a joy on other people‘s shows. This giggly 5-year old adult is so infectious to his opposites and it is so great to watch. Had tears in my eyes 😂
I love when John laughs so much that he slaps his knee. But this time he actually pounded both his knees with his fists.
John doesn't want to go, and we don't want him to go either. He will always be one of the best guests on the show. Never a dull moment. I have a lot of Johns in my life too, but Oliver is easily in my top 3. 🤓
The best rabbit hole finders! I love how they can just go off in any direction at any time! LMAO
Thanks Steve and John! I Love you guys! ❣️❤️😅💞🤩😂
Love the informality in these conversations. Stephen and John should just host a late show together! 🤩
Listen, Stephen Colbert x John Oliver is how we end all wars on earth!
Could we add Trevor Noah?
Cannot overstate how much I just love John Oliver. He has godlike stature in my eyes. The most loveable god ever.
Love john oliver. Thx for having him
All of those wonderful talented daily show alums. They are so humble and relish being the first target of humor at their expense
They have so much energy together it’s so fun to watch
How much fun they’re having inspired me to try and have fun despite the timeline we live in
@Crack Shot duh derp duh
John is so much fun. I love his show. Fell asleep before he came on last night. Thanks to RUclips I get to see it now. 👍
To add to what many others have already said, Steven and John should do a regular show together. Whether a podcast, or a weekly segment on Steven’s show that lasts far longer than one segment, this is comedy gold.
The gorgeous throwaway zingers come so fast and thick with these two! E.g., John on aliens: "We've taken this Life on Earth thing as far as we can, someone take the relay baton from us" 🤣 and John on Sharkweek: "No, because I am against corporate synergy in all of its most convenient forms" 🤣 and their back-and-forth about Stephen's horse-thief ancestor and dual citizenship... and Domino's Pizza. I am officially slain!
The Daily Show must be a great working environment, friendships actually blossoms.
They weren’t on the show at the same time. 😂
Joh. Oliver is outstanding
John Stewart's legacy on full display. ❤️
Nothing wrong with going a bit salt-and-pepper at Jon's age. I've been doing it since my 30s and I just call it 'going Clooney'.
He shrunk in height, too.
That happened to me AFTER all my hair decided to strike out on it’s own.
They are both very smart and they get a kick out of trying to outwit reach other. And John Oliver fearless and cannot be intimidated. It’s hilarious.
We were so distracted by the bangs no one said anything about how Jon Oliver has two pairs of glasses in his first season promo.
that's great! I have looked at that promo over 50 times because it's hilarious and I look for John Oliver clips on any late night show (so times even without the added bangs) and I legitimately would not have noticed if I hadn't read your comment
imagine john stewart ...john oliver... and stewan colbert in a one show it will be....oh ... yes... i remember... it was wonderfull
5:44 John Oliver laughing like a gleeful toddler gives me so much happiness 😊
Also: "The joke is my actual face" is such a power move!
John Oliver is my favorite human.
I like how he said velocity instead of altitude and tried to sell it. So seamless. :D
I still remember “THE ROAD FROM THE WHITEHOUSE” like it was yesterday 😂 that was so funny
John’s look in the promo poster had me laughing harder than anything else in the clip. Definitely stuck the landing like he said.
Looking forward to the new season 👍🏻
In the UK we call younger John Oliver's hair cut a flick 😁 and yep almost all of us males had one at some stage often with a wedge at the back 😂
Someone please turn the “meanwhile” segment into a show with John Oliver, Jon Stewart, and Colbert just goofing off about the craziest headlines in the news. No real politics. No real discourse. Just the three of them chatting on crazy topics.
These two are so funny they need their own show!
At least a special two episodes, one of them introducing England and another one in the US.
the quick wit of Stephen doodling in another bang adjustment on John Oliver is hilarious
This pair has incredible chemistry
I'll watch John Oliver flipping a car in Philly naked and covered in cheesesteak grease as long as he's allowed to comment on the experience.
😱 Yasss!
Can listen to these two all-day !
John Oliver is Funny & has a Fair Mind.
I'm in love with John Oliver
John Oliver is the man.
I can't believe that Stephen didn't bring up the fact that in the earlier photo John is holding a pair of glasses WHILE! wearing a pair.
I once was looking for my backup pair of glasses because I couldn't find my normal pair. I was wearing them.
lol, great pic, never leave us John Oliver.
Two Comic Geniuses in Suits & Glasses. Brilliance Personified !
I still love your content! You haven't aged THAT badly... 😆
“Believe me, my face can stick the landing on this punchline.” THAT is one of the funniest things he’s ever said.
I literally have started to watch all of his interviews back and I've been laughing my tears out , i keep repeating them and they're still killing me.
john Oliver just makes EVERYTHING better
luv that john
John Oliver need more time!
How did they not hit upon the fact that there are _three_ pairs of glasses in that photo, but only two heads?? 😳
Really two of the funniest people alive, whether scripted or unscripted. True geniuses -- even if John said "high velocity" when he meant to say "high altitude."
😂
Uh, why? His point is that it it's high up, it will go fast.
@@Matthew-ve7uv LOL. That was a good attempted cover.
I could watch these two for hours!
Stephen REALLY wanted to talk UFO's......👽🛸......while John had already moved onto warning Domino's against putting gummy bears on pizza....😂
Alien life is already here visiting our world = ODNI report to Congress says 400 UFO encounters with the US military that are unexplained and show advanced technology
Well... we don't want the aliens to see that kind of pizza now, would we :D
John Oliver is so cute 🥰🥰🥰
New show with John Oliver and Stephen Colbert as hosts.
I love how tickled John got when he nailed that balloon bit lol
No wonder John Oliver and Bernie Sanders are in an appearance competition, these two NEVER disappoint.
John for King of England and Bernie for President
I love how he pointed out that Colbert asks the citizenship question all the time lmaoo
colbert helped deradicalize me out of literal fascism, because i wouldn't listen to non-christians
how here i am years later, an atheist socialist 😂
i may have outgrown colbert, but if he didnt exist, i probably wouldve been marching at jan 6th.
OMG!!!
IMPOSSIBLE TO OUTGROW COLBERT - PERHAPS YOU JUST LOST YOUR SENSE OF HUMOUR !
HOPE NOT !
Colbert drawing on the bangs 😂🤣
No way is John giving up that dual citizenship. As long as he keeps up that accent he'll get free healthcare and much cheaper drugs everytime he comes back. Canadian dual citizens do exactly the same
The downside is he has to pay taxes in both countries. He can probably afford it though.
@@GarretGrayCamera I'm not sure he is taxed in Britain as he doesn't live there. A dual citizen who is non resident ONLY pays tax on their UK income. As John is resident in America a country of which he is a citizen and generates his income there then he gets taxed there.
I think the only way the HMRC can get him would be property and council tax payments if he owns property here and I think he's smart enough to either stay with his folks or book a nice cottage when he visits home
Yes, my friend has dual citizenship with Switzerland. Receives all her Healthcare and medications from Switzerland 🇨🇭.
@@GarretGrayCameraNah it’s only the US that comes after it’s own citizens for tax when they live abroad. UK citizens only have to pay UK tax if they live there
@@GarretGrayCamera Only country I know of that tries to collect taxes on their expats is America
Funny... It's so hard to get an good interview whit a show host... But he nailed it. Well done Steven
I’ll be very honest, the bangs were AMAZING !
If you read this John, get them back
More “you’re still doing this?” Than “congratulations!”
Sunday 🎉. And Stephen is back too! Sigh…. I made it! ( Trevor coming back 😊)
Here we go 😂❤😍😊
Trevor isn’t coming back. He quit.
Love it !!! They need their own show ❤
He didn't want that one to be his final joke lol
What joke was J.O. trying to set up?
Taking up 3 segments wasn't enough for him and I agree wholeheartedly
John is the best! Together they really rock it.
I mean, John's not wrong. Winds can get pretty high velocity at high altitude. 150 knots plus. Not jet speed, but faster than one thinks a balloon should go.
Thumbs up for those drawn bangs.
John Oliver is still happy as a child :)
Well John, I too have aged badly but like you, it was the trump administration that really did me in. He didn’t age a day and the rest of us look like the Portrait of Dorian Grey.
