The 2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray Is A Lust Worthy All-Weather Hybrid American Supercar

  • With the introduction of the first-ever production mid-engine #ChevroletCorvette back in 2020, the #Corvette team continues to push the boundaries for 2024, with the introduction of the first-ever AWD Hybrid electric version called the #CorvetteERay. It takes the #C8Corvette formula and adds a small battery pack and a powerful electric motor at the front axle, giving the Corvette AWD for the first time. The result is a supercar that is quicker than the #CorvetteZ06 and it finally allows owners to drive their Corvette in foul weather conditions.

    I get it, that it is being called supercar for a reason and that’s thanks to it’s jaw dropping performance and capability on the track…but after a few years of being on the market and still turning heads we cannot allow this design to go unnoticed either. Ford cannot compete with this at the same price and neither can Stellantis. Absolutely the American Ferrari that’s faster than the Ferrari, and most importantly a wild class design that’s drop dead gorgeous and aging gracefully!! 🔥

      @G-Rated It's because the C8 has a high break even price. *From GM Authority*. *Chevrolet Loses Money On All Corvette C8s Sold For Less Than $80,000*
      That's why you don't see base C8 Corvettes setting in dealer lots. After 1st year introduction with an advertised MSRP under $60,000. Production was shut down. The following year more options were added to increase the C8's MSRP at or above $80,000. Ford and Stellantis could both build a competitive vehicle, but their profits comes from Trucks and SUVs. Ford continued the lower profit Mustang and even added the Dark Horse GTD Mustang Supercar in limited production adding extreme performance parts top to bottom. Ford unlike GM is selling GT3 and GT4 race cars to the public for IMSA racing. They have also taken over building Hybrid racing engines for Red Bulls F1 team. The perfect connection for improving their hybrid engines for consumer vehicles. Any company can build any type of vehicle. The Corvette is GM's Halo car while the Mustang has replaced the Ford GT as Ford's Halo vehicle. GM has to keep the Corvette in the positive profit margins. I'm guessing the E-Ray is in that range. Considering GM has announced going to 100% Battery vehicles. It appears the E-Ray is their attempt to test how well this C8 version will complete with their current Ice Corvettes.

      @@joem7755 The Z06 is alluring, I get it but personally I don't need that level of performance and I don't want its 'newness'. I'm not saying you are one of these people, but a lot of buyers naively overestimate their ability to even handle the otherworldly performance of a car like the Z06 or they just want it for the bragging rights, perhaps. A Stingray 2LT Z51 is MORE than I need for weekend thrills and the occasional autocross day. I'd rather own a sports car that I can handle at the limit, spend way less money and get a tried and true powertrain.

      @dlg5485 agreed, that's why I put money down to be on an e-ray list 2 years ago. With awd I knew it would handle better then the z06. I was hoping for a cheaper car but we all got a big surprise. Since gm changed the computers and it was locked I knew if I wanted more power later that tuning would be a much harder option. Now that many power added kits are out, many at 20k or more it makes more since to get the next level up if you want more power. Between the epa and these company super high prices they have taken allot of the fun of modding. The e-ray reviews all talked about how much safer they feel then driving the z06. But of course there is that exciting love for that feeling of losing control

    I agree with you on spending the extra 7k for the convertible! Unlike the hardtop,you don’t lose any trunk storage space when storing the targa top. I’m liking the E-Ray more so than the ZO6 because of the weather friendly AWD performance which is quicker than the ZO6. You can also add a Procharger or another performance upgrade to the V-8 if you wish to…which is basically what the future AWD Zora will be equipped with in the future. I know it’ll be a twin turbo ZO6 with an electric motor also but it’s also estimated to have a 200k starting price. The E-Ray seems to be the more user friendly cruiser with consistent every time performance wet or dry…

    I rode in my uncle's new Corvette when I was up in North Attleboro, MA back in August. His is gasoline. I went for a ride with him while my grandfather was taking a nap and we went 132 mph in that sucker. That thing would run. He also has a 2003 Z06 and an older Corvette.

    the one to wait for is the zo6 engine with electric motor that will have an additional 100 hp. that car is supposed to surpass Ferrari's newer hybrids

    • @oneslackr
      @oneslackr 7 месяцев назад

      There isn't going to be a C8 Z06 with an electric motor. The next Z06 (i.e. C9) will probably be 100% EV.

    • @van123446
      @van123446 7 месяцев назад +2

      I actually like not having the constant sound of a gas motor,, even though i own a 992 GT3. So yes, give me a C9 with two or four electric motors producing 1000 hp with same instant torque, and i'm in. Synthesized sound is just in it's infancy,, for those who want to simply switch between the sound of Ferrari, Lambo, etc.. I'm sure it will come. Sound systems in cars can offer so much theses days,, like speakers inside the back cushion of the seat etc..
      But call it whatever you want,, and I still think Chevrolet can't resist putting the flat plain in combination with a more powerful electric motor. I'd bet on it.

    • @oneslackr
      @oneslackr 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@van123446 : Time will tell I guess. As far as sound goes I'd rather have no sound than fake sound.

    • @van123446
      @van123446 7 месяцев назад

      I'd probably agree with you,, but we do listen to our stereos at home in lieu of going to concerts. I think one aspect that could propel the idea is the instantaneous syncronicity of pure instant torque coupled with the pure instant in sync roar of a say a straight piped V12 where the rpm of the electric motors matched the audio perfectly. Yes, you'd know it was fake, but with enough surround sound with the inside of car literally vibrating just as does a high spec Ferrari,, it just might be engaging. Have you ever played REALLY loud Jimmy Hendricks songs all the while pretending you're playing his guitar as him?

    • @G-Rated
      @G-Rated 6 месяцев назад

      @@van123446you’re absolutely correct. *gm* is already playing with sound in different ways. The Escalade’s upgraded AKG studio reference system heavily uses its 36 speakers for things like the navigation system and safety alert system. In the GMC Hummer, they use the vibrations from safety system and sound system to generate a dramatic affect as the truck prepares for WTF mode. I can definitely see them upping the antics for a next level E-Ray hybrid as well.
