@@racheljackson4428 I am so sorry for not responding to this comment sooner! Thank you for asking. I worked the summer season of 2018, and as you would expect, it's peak vacation time, and it storms every day in Orlando, so it would be an abnormal day if the ride didn't shut down at least once. When it was a good weather day, often we had ride breakdowns due to the fact that we are required to run this ride working one more train than the ride was capable of running without any possible incident. That is actually the most common reason (not weather related) as to why the ride would break down because with that extra train, the computer system is extra wonky. The pros to working this attraction was that I was able to get my theater degree on with acting the part in Frontierland. The guests were fantastic to talk to for the most part (especially when I worked the disability lane at the exit of the ride, so I get to talk to guests one on one more). Before opening and after closing, cast members will take a ride on the coaster for tech checks, so I would get to ride the coaster at least once a day, which is great. My favorite part of working there was that I usually got the disability lane shift at night, so I would watch the Happily Ever After fireworks from my post. My best memory however was when I was working standby entrance and a twelve year old boy came up to me and showed me a video of his build of Big Thunder in Minecraft, to which I told to the rest of my coworkers who thought it was just as awesome as I thought it was. At the end of the day, I did miss working there, and if it wasn't for the troubling living situation I was going through, I would've worked there longer to reach full time.
Thank you for including the Western River Expedition in the history of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. You have my eternal thanks for keeping the WRE dream alive.
I know it's a huge downer but the accident at Disneyland needed the be included in a "history of" video. That is an important part of their history and should not have been ignored.
I agree. I love this ride as well. BUT, Disney is not perfect and poor design, maintenance, and training can cause fatal results. I've ridden the ride before and after the accident. Guest should be aware that there is always a risk when enjoying these rides.
@@AlextheHistorian Acknowledging something that happened is not necessarily thrusting the victims or their families back into the limelight. As TrapperVZ said, this is a "history" video.
