That kidney stone part was legitimately one of the most interesting facts I’ve ever learned from RUclips 😳
I thought at first it was a joke before I dug more into the research done. It's definitely one of the most unique facts I've come across in my two years of putting videos together. Good to know if I ever need to pass a kidney stone where to go lol.
@@ThemeParkHistory girls have it easier
@@ThemeParkHistory No lie. I had a kidney stone a few months ago and did a cost analysis of the price for surgery versus the price on a trip to Disney!
Was that specific to WDW?
As someone who frequently gets kidney stones and has been to Disneyland close to over 100 times, I can confirm that it does work.
It’s the gold standard of theme park roller coasters. Perfect blend of immersive theming and thrills.
It's definitely the standard that all roller coasters should strive to be and improve upon on.

Hands down, best Disney ride just in terms of thrills and theme. There's few rides that are just so straight up fun.
It’s been my favorite since I was eight years old!
I like how the French version takes you underwater. That is pretty spectacular.
Fun fact: I used to be a cast member at this attraction. This video brings back so many fun memories.
what's it like to work at the attraction? did you enjoy it?
@@racheljackson4428 I am so sorry for not responding to this comment sooner! Thank you for asking. I worked the summer season of 2018, and as you would expect, it's peak vacation time, and it storms every day in Orlando, so it would be an abnormal day if the ride didn't shut down at least once. When it was a good weather day, often we had ride breakdowns due to the fact that we are required to run this ride working one more train than the ride was capable of running without any possible incident. That is actually the most common reason (not weather related) as to why the ride would break down because with that extra train, the computer system is extra wonky.
The pros to working this attraction was that I was able to get my theater degree on with acting the part in Frontierland. The guests were fantastic to talk to for the most part (especially when I worked the disability lane at the exit of the ride, so I get to talk to guests one on one more). Before opening and after closing, cast members will take a ride on the coaster for tech checks, so I would get to ride the coaster at least once a day, which is great. My favorite part of working there was that I usually got the disability lane shift at night, so I would watch the Happily Ever After fireworks from my post. My best memory however was when I was working standby entrance and a twelve year old boy came up to me and showed me a video of his build of Big Thunder in Minecraft, to which I told to the rest of my coworkers who thought it was just as awesome as I thought it was.
At the end of the day, I did miss working there, and if it wasn't for the troubling living situation I was going through, I would've worked there longer to reach full time.
@@CaitCherthank you for telling your story.
Peep "Old Town Road playing in the video's background towards the end though LOL XD
I always enjoy Big Thunder Mountain. It's a really good ride with an interesting story.
Does anyone else remember when the rocks on the third lift would shake like they were caving in??
Did anyone else notice the building a house song from RDR2 playing in the background
Ah, I see you're a man of culture as well.
I was just looking to see if anyone else noticed. 🤠
Such a classic
I love love love love love love love love this ride
Thank you for including the Western River Expedition in the history of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. You have my eternal thanks for keeping the WRE dream alive.
Have to always mention the great Disney concepts that unfortunately never came to be. It's a shame that there's so many of them.
I know it's a huge downer but the accident at Disneyland needed the be included in a "history of" video. That is an important part of their history and should not have been ignored.
I agree. I love this ride as well. BUT, Disney is not perfect and poor design, maintenance, and training can cause fatal results. I've ridden the ride before and after the accident. Guest should be aware that there is always a risk when enjoying these rides.
@@AlextheHistorian Because it is a significant part of the "History" of the ride.
@@AlextheHistorian Acknowledging something that happened is not necessarily thrusting the victims or their families back into the limelight. As TrapperVZ said, this is a "history" video. Yes, something bad happened and people were hurt/killed. It revealed a design flaw and maintenance oversight. Those issues were fixed and now the ride is more safe for it. He ommitted part the history. Not all things that have happened in the past were good, but they learned from that accident to make the present and future better.
Edit: a word.
@@AlextheHistorian Your name screams irony in volumes unheard since the big bang.

2 ride requests answered in a row this must be my lucky day
Big Thunder has always been my favorite!
Big Thunder in Disneyland was a big hit since the opening day.
Matthew Melaragno I think he meant the opening of big thunder mt
One of my favorite Disney attractions! Always have to ride this one when I visit a Disney park, definitely more than once!
Next could you do the history of Disneyland Paris’s phantom manor or the haunted Manson entirely
You should do a video Peter Pan‘s flight, Pirates of the Caribbean, the great movie ride, and the phantom manor. Those would be cool rides to hear facts about on RUclips.
I love the amount of dedication and effort you put into your videos. It's inspiring to see such respect with your accreditation to music and videos used. Keep making these cool videos I love learning about theme parks! You're doing an awesome job! :)
Disney songs zip do da 1990 sing along
Loved the house building song from RDR2 in the background 😄
👍
The Phantom Manor addition in France is amazing writing and harkens back to really great disney design.
It’s one of my favorite attractions. I usually ride it twice a day when I’m at Disneyland.
I suggested again and he made it! 1:09. There I am again. Thanks again!
The last time I road Big Thunder Mountain, I rode in the very back - omgosh, it was the most fun I’ve ever had on that ride! - which side note, the ride is already fun! 🧡 10 out of 10 - ride the back row!
On my last trip to disneyworld , I rode it 3 times I love this ride!!!
Been on this in Disney world and Disneyland Paris. Its a fantastic ride.. Was not disappointed when i went on it at both parks, even with the really long queues. Great video again 👍
Got kidney stones??
BEST REMOVE EM
Ah I see you're a man of culture, using the house building theme from RDR2 for the background music 🤠
BTM is great. It’s incredibly themed and a fun ride. I love taking the railroad to look at the backside of the ride. It’s so interesting.
Good Evening. Can you review Alfred Hitchcock: The Art of Making Movies around Halloween?
Alfred Hitchcock: The Art of Making Movies is getting an episode this year, not sure when though. Also, nice touch with the good evening line.
and Mickey's not so scary Halloween and Haunted Mansion.
i genuinely can figure out how this channel is not more popular the quality is so good, it’s really entertaining, and he gives you a bunch of facts
Just when I thought my boredom couldn’t get any worse, bell notification goes off and I’m saved
FANTASMIC PLEEEEEEAAAASSSSSEEEE
Can you do the Theme Park History of “The Great Movie Ride” 🎥 , and/or “Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway” 🚂 for your next video please?! Thank you!
Mickey and minnie’s runaway railway is too recent
Please do Muppet Vision 3D at Disney California Adventure
That’s what I suggested
Finally. I’ve been asking for this for forever.
You weren't kidding. I want to say thank you for your patience, you've been asking it for for over a year now and it was finally time to deliver.
One of the earliest memories I have as a kid is riding Thunder Mountain. I specifically remember the car going backwards in a downward spiral with bats all around. I guess my young self came up with the whole bat and spiral thing because it wasn’t mentioned in the video. Maybe I’m thinking of another ride lmao
This was always my favorite ride. Once, I rode this with a big group of my cousins like 7 times in the span of like 30 minutes. (It was like 8-9 PM)
Always my first ride whenever I go to Magic Kingdom
Thunder Mountain is my all time favorite ride at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World.
Thank you for this video. I also wanted to add that A Drop Tower like ride was once considered to go along with Big Thunder Mountain Railway in California. I believed it was going to be called Geyser Mountain. Such a cool concept that never came to be.
We actually spoke about Geyser Mountain a bit in our Twlight Zone: Tower of Terror video. It was going to be themed similar to BTMR but it eventually was scrapped because of budget cuts.
Best time to ride this is at night during the fireworks show during the summer months.Pure magic!
I did that with the Seven Dwarves Mine Train in Magic Kingdom, on the last drop 3 fireworks exploded and it was beautiful
There’s a rumor that Big Thunder, Haunted Mansion, and Pirates are all connected by one main backstory. Great video man.
Whenever I go to Disney World big thunder Mountain railroad is always my favorite ride.
Thank God for these videos now that all the parks are closed.
Thank you this is one of my favorite attractions at Disney Land/ world
Thank you ACfairgrounds!
Don’t forget that in 79 it was shut down because trains kept jumping the track ( though no major injuries ). The speed was cut before the Dino skeleton. That fixed the problem.
Great video! When I went, I found myself riding BTMR as much as I could. Definitely my favorite ride. Also I appreciate the Red Dead Redemption 2 song at the beginning.
When you pass a kindey stone on BMTRR, now thats what i call strikin gold
Florida's Thunder Mountain was my first roller coaster, so it's a special ride for me.
My favorite coaster of all time. And I’m a fan of huge thrill rides, but this is somehow absolutely perfect. It’s just so fun.
My best evac story happened on the paris version of big thunder. It was an insane experience having to walk from lift 2 back through the mountain and tunnel back to the station
My favorite Coaster at Magic Kingdom! Thanks for sharing! 👍❤️😊
probably my favorite Disney roller coaster
one of the best rides at magic kingdom :)
Do the story of Thunder Mesa. The Frontierland in Disneyland Paris. It includes Thunder Mountain and Phantom Manor
Please do Grizzly River Run
, my favorite ride ever
As always that was an awesome video.Big Thunder is one of my favs.😊
Thank you Chain!
Good to see you back with talking about mountains. Keep up the hard work.
This was my first roller coaster ride ever circa 1995, what a rush that was!
Loved this video. Thank you! My mom loved the mine train and donkey rides before hand.. But said she loved big thunder as well. This gave me joy and thoughts of my mom. Thank u
One of my favorite rides at the Magic Kingdom. The queue is very well thought out. After riding the Walt Disney World Railroad and seeing the details from the other side, you really see the great work that was put into it.
I desperately needed a new Theme Park History video. Thank you so much for keeping me entertained during this tough time!!
Nice, you used the house building theme
I've Been On The Big Thunder Mountain Railway Rollercoaster At Both Disney Parks.
I've Been On The Big Thunder Mountain Railway Rollercoaster No. 1 At Disneyland Resort In Anaheim Near Los Angeles California In The United States Of America Back In April 2016. It's A Bit Like Skarloey. I've Also Been On Both Big Thunder Mountain Railway Rollercoasters At Tokyo Disneyland In Tokyo Japan Back In April 2018 And At Disneyland Paris Near Paris France Last Year Back In September 2019 And They Both Like Peter Sam And Sir Handel From Thomas The Tank Engine And Friends. Thanks Theme Park History Mate. PS I'm Might Go On The Big Thunder Mountain Railway Rollercoaster At Walt Disney World Resort In Orlando Florida Next Year In March 2023. It's A Bit Like Duke The Lost Engine From Thomas The Tank Engine And Friends Series 4 Episode Bulldog. Awesome. X
My favorite Disney ride of all time!
Great channel! My kids would love to see the history of Soarin Over CA and Radiator Springs Racers. Keep up the good work!
Thank you Nathan! Soarin' is getting its own video later this year.
Disneyland Paris will always be known for holding the best Big Thunder Mountain roller coaster. The ride goes underneath a Lake, and that is phenomenal.
Excellent video of vintage commercials and information. Thank you!
Thanks for watching William!
You should do the Haunted Mansion at Disney World, Disneyland, etc. next!
Thank you so much for doing this one!
No problem Rats!
Thank you so much for doing this video!
Thanks for watching William!
Fantastic, been looking forward to this one, really well done and a nice mental break we could all use!
My favorite roller coaster, I ride all the time when I visit Orlando
This is my 2nd favorite ride at Walt Disney world when I was a teenager. But looks like they changed it a bit.
It feels so much faster than it actually is but still fun
It's not the place its self but the memory's we make. Took my daughter in 2017 when she was 12 we rode it in the day and rode it last as the fireworks went off. That was the magic the look on her face keeps me going 😭 God I miss her
TPH doing Big Thunder? This is the wildest history in the theme park
I found you
Did he seriously play the read dead redemption 2 build a house theme, I love it
Connor Shantz he did yes! 😄
I use to work at Six Flags Over Texas and remember the Runaway Mine Train.
Starting in May 2015, Disney, through their Marvel Comics acquisition, created a 5 issue comic book series for "Big Thunder Mountain Railroad." It's a well written and illustrated series that expands on the mythology of "Big Thunder Mountain," the mining town of "Rainbow Ridge," the operational railroad, and of course the mine itself.
One of my fav rides
When I made my first trip to Disney World last October, when I got to Magic Kingdom I made sure to ride this one, by far my favorite Roller Coaster anywhere! Of course I'm also not a fan of heights so the big ones make my anxiety and fear of heights get bad. Big Thunder Mountain is perfect for me as well!
In my opinion the best big thunder mountain is the one in Paris
After reviewing all four versions I have to agree with you. I think having the mountain on its own island makes it stand out, along with combining some of the elements from the Disneyland version.
Yes being there recently, I will say Big Thunder Paris is the best Big Thunder
@@ThemeParkHistory That & being universally linked to Phantom Manor - the most elaborately coherent & story driven of all the Haunted Mansions (everyone's favorite classic spook house NOT associated with Knott's [Scary] Farm or Universal's Halloween Horror Nights, but rather by The Happiest Place on Earth) across the world - also helps further broaden its general appeal, too.
The first roller coaster I ever rode. 7 years old. 1980.
one of my favorite rides at Disney world 🥰🥰🥰
Wonderful! Another great video, Jack. Loved hearing about your personal connection to the ride too!
as long as you keep making more videos it can help take my mind off of what's going on out in the world. Keep em coming. Great quality material man! And btw this is my personal favorite at Magic Kingdom.
I really love Thunder Mountain,it's my favorite Disney ride of all time. I wonder if the Magic Kingdom version will ever get the Explosive finale from Disneyland during Magic Kingdom's 50th anniversary.
People screaming in the commercial for the ride. Always love those over hyped commercials for rides. Love your vids by the way!!!!
Did you know the wiggles went on this ride? They had a TV special on the disney channel in Australia called the wiggles live at Disneyland and there’s one scene where Greg and Murray go on this ride
Phenomenal stuff dude!!, the Hall of Presidents would be insane for a video as well as the Haunted Mansion!
Hey the rdr 2 house building song. That’s my jam.
I lost it at old town road playing towards the end 😂
Next do the theme park history of the haunted mansion(Disneyland/magic kingdom/Tokyo Disneyland)
Big Thunder is my favorite too. And I share a birthday with the Disneyland model. I have recurring kidney stones, so maybe I need to take a trip over to Florida lol
Ah yes! Wish I could I be riding Big Thunder Mountain right now! Stay Healthy everyone!
I Rode This Ride On My Disney Vacation In The Month Of September Of Last Year In Magic Kingdom
