    Hi Nate. I just bought the Mikrotik Netmetal AC2 exterior access point. You do need a router if needing ethernet but it also allows a SIM card. I wasn't sure if that option is reliable enough yet seeing we work from home. So I plan on connecting my copper to it for now. Any ideas? Have you had any experience with the Mikrotiks?
    Great videos. Thanks for the knowledge.

    • @NaterTater
      @NaterTater  Год назад +2

      I'm not familiar with the Mikrotiks but I googled them. Looks like a 3G/4G USB capable device? Depends on your ISP offerings. 4G LTE would be limited to around 100Mbps in ideal cases from what I have seen. If you copper is reliable and fast enough for your needs then keep that. Maybe added cellular as a backup so you can keep working.

      I haven't used them but they have the same RM520N-GL modem so has the potential for good speed. Its more expensive than the Chester Cheetah after the NaterTater discount and Cheetah has free expedited shipping. Chester will also pre-configure settings for free so it works with your SIM. Lots of options out there, I agree on paper it looks like it has potential. I just havent experienced it or seen their tech support.

    Nate - I have the KVD21 and tried the 4x4 panel but that did not go well. I broke a connector on the last wire of the 4 on the Tmobile KVD21. Everything went back the way it was, except the broken wire on the Tmobile modem, and I returned the 4x4. The speeds are the same, so I'm not sure which band the wire was for. I'm looking for something that I don't need to do surgery on miniature or micro circuit boards. What do you suggest for the easiest and best options to use the Tmobile sim , and under $1k. Thank you.

    I have noticed all sorts of stuff going on with my local towers as well. SA will just drop for me, same with NSA, I was getting a stable 300mbps. Couple mornings it was stuck on LTE. I think we may be seeing T-mobile overselling the towers, since home internet is literally last in priority.

    • @NaterTater
      @NaterTater  Год назад +1

      Could be but some of these odd drops are network issues or upgrades. Generally congestion just causes a slow down in download but can cause band/tower jumping in extreme cases.

    • @srcrewchief89
      @srcrewchief89 Год назад +1

      @@NaterTater I have been seeing regular, nearly daily, that N41 had dropped for me. Since I'm still using the KVD21 my current options for recovery are limited. It usually either only connects to N71 for 5G or not at all for hours. This is a T-Mobile issue since a couple of my neighbors using the same tower are having the same issues with a variety of equipment. Getting through TMO customer support to TMO tech support has become increasingly difficult lately as well.

      If purchased as a bring your own modem variety you will need to enable ethernet drivers via AT commands
