A shark is a big fish

@@EinwetokJust like your attitude.
Lol right?!
That victim is very articulate. Good explanation of what happened.
I was thinking the same thing
Had it been someone from the Valley.... OMG! lol
It pursued her, it followed her. That's creepy. Usually sharks take a bite and realize we're not a seal or something and they let go.
Bull sharks, tiger sharks, and great white sharks are known maneaters. They take the first bite so the prey will start bleeding out and weakening, then they come back and drag you down to deeper waters to eat. That's why you're supposed to punch them to fight back.
@@lisapolanski9379 I've also heard to go for their eyes. I think the shark that attacked those people was a bull shark. That explains a lot; they're just mean. Seriously, I've read that a lot of times sharks will bite humans, taste their flesh and then realize their mistake and let go. Of course there have been people that have been eaten, may they rest in peace. I can't imagine the fear that poor woman felt. The shark pursued her. It gives me the willies.
@@ladyrachel13go for their nose & gills. Sharks have a protective layer that cover their eyes for when they attack prey. When you see divers interacting with sharks, you’ll notice how the sharks “close” their eyes as they come up to the diver, especially if the diver reaches out to touch the shark.
Which proves that that saying isn't true. How can anyone truly know what some creature really likes or dislikes unless you're that creature?
"Realize we're not a seal" You know that's absolute BS correct?
That clip of the beach with all of the people just standing there looking at the water and no one in it reminded me of a scene straight out of JAWS !

We sometimes forget that when we venture into the surf it’s the ocean’s residents world, we’re just playing in it for a time.
Don’t tell em…. They don’t get it and will still go!
She is very lucky to have her leg!
If she can wiggle toes ... Hopefully she will not have to lose it
@@Darlene-zw2ki unfortunately she did lose it. I watched the uncensored video. Her left leg, up to the knee was almost separated when she was being carried to the shore.
@@theparamountparamount913i could’ve swore it was only a big chunk of her calf, and not as high up as to her knee?
@theparamountparamount913 It's still gonna be OK, she didn't lose her whole damn leg or her life! It's a damn terrible thing but tt will be ok!
Her whole calf was bitten off. The body can’t produce enough scar tissue to repair that much damage so the surgeons knotted off the artery flow to her lower leg then drained the leg of all its blood; she’s currently in wait for amputation of that leg. If the bite was smaller she could have kept her leg but the shark removed the calf all the way to her bone
the fact that she can still wiggle her toes says alot
The peroneal nerve is still intact.
She should wait on the prosthetics. We will have artificial muscles and nerves soon
I believe because those tendons and muscles are on the shin side
I'm so glad she's going to be okay and her husband too, that was a lot of blood in the water and I feared she would bleed out but she's on the mend now and thank goodness she'll be all right. She's lucky she had help to get out of the water when she did and her husband was there for her. Many blessings to you both!

I know some people believe in fairy tales. It’s very real to them.
At least Texans are more awake about what time it is, so the blood used in the hospitals there is less likely to be contaminated from the jabbed💉💉💉💉💉
My husband and I were supposed to go that day but we arrived around 1:30 pm from our 8 hr trip and we were too tired to go. We saw what happened later that day so we were glad we didn’t go that day. We did go the next day and we were being very cautious. As my husband and I were swimming we noticed something in the water as well. I yelled at my husband to get out right away and we got out as fast as we could. Everyone started getting out too but a lot of people just took their phones to record which took me by surprise because I was expecting to have someone warn the lifeguard. No one did, so I ran right away to let the lifeguard know about what was going on. Along with lifeguard we managed to get the beach patrol that was near by aware of that too. They acted fast and were able to conclude that it was a dolphin. There were around 3-5 of them in the water. From someone who doesn’t go to the beach often that was a scary experience for sure. Luckily everyone was safe but it definitely something to keep in mind for the future. I pray for a speedy recovery for the people who were injured. ❤
She was so calm so brave... Not even one scream... Oh poor lady...I hope she recovers fast.

I would like to think majority of people who go to the beach for play would have basic discernment and wisdom in contemplating the probability of sharks in the water and think twice about the risk they are taking! Once attacked, it is permanent loss of limbs, severe scarring or even bleeding to death!
“I thought it was a big fish”…She wasn’t wrong
Oh that was her daughter at the start of that video of the attack? That makes me so sad. But also, kudos to the woman who held her and walked her away from what was happening to her mom.
Lately there are frequent shark attacks I have been hearing about. At this point stay away from the ocean.
Human meat is the new menu
STOP SWIMMING IN THE OCEAN! find a pool and swim in that
Bleach is bad for us our skin pores absorb poison. Salt water is holistic
As a Floridian we are aware that sharks swim to the shallows when the water is warm because they are seeking feeder fish. The weather has been very warm so we will see many sharks in shallow water. In Florida we see people pulled under in knee deep water so please be careful! And watch where you step. Some sharks nestle into the sand and if you accidentally step on it, it WILL bite you.
Yikes. Florida sounds like a survivalist’s state.
You only go out to knee height in an area where you're alone with your partner or friend. The more people, the more murky the water increases your risk of shark attacks. 🦈
An event like this is very rare at that beach. Makes sense that the warmer weather would have something to do with the shark appearing
They are seeking seals 🦭
@@joko09010then there are the wild animals too...
You’ve always heard the question.
“Would you swim in front of a shark to protect your loved one”?

Stay out of the ocean or sometimes rivers..It's not a swimming pool.
Exactly
My heart goes out to the husband and those who were brave enough to help during such a scary situation.
It astounds me the amount of negativity that we as a nation can come up with nowadays! Look at the comments under any video on RUclips, ANY video! If there is the slightest inkling of anything in the video that someone can turn negative…..they will! I’m just glad that the lady lived to tell about it and seems to be in good spirits. All that matters about HER husband’s actions, is that she believes that he was doing everything he could to help her. It honestly doesn’t master what a JEALOUS keyboard warrior thinks!…..Now let the negative comments begin!!
IDK where on RUclips you’re hanging out, but I don’t see any of the negativity of which you speak.

Years ago me ,my friend jason and his son went to South Padre Island maybe five years ago. We went to that same beach it was my first time so was excited I swam out all the way to the boat buoys , the lifeguard was telling my friend to tell me come back but I was jumping up in the waves God this scares the hell out of me and makes me feel blessed and like I had guardian angel watching over me that day , I pray she will be okay
Jumping in the waves is crazyy 😂
@@nickgar6935Crazy fun!
little terrifying because I was in the water 2 miles down from when that happened past the 2nd sandbar (further out) and didnt find out until later that day there had been sharks in the water
There's always sharks in the water, I'm sure if you took a drone up, you'd see a few right next to people in the water.
My wife and I drove up to Boca Chica Beach from SPI last summer. When we got to the starship at SpaceX, we decided it was a beautiful day and ventured out into the water. Just the two of us. There were no other people for miles. After hearing about this, I will use more caution. Great memories, though.

So glad she has lived to tell the tale! May she make a great recovery! This is a very dangerous shark! 4 people and it’s no longer a coincidence, you’re on the menu for sure!
The ocean belongs to the sea life. You kinda get what you get when you swimming in their home.

Don't kick sharks
The shark thought she was a big fish, too (allegedly).
Let me guess…they are going to say that shark attacks are very rare. Nope, I don’t think so! Not for me! Clearly, that shark was out for blood after the first, 2nd, 3rd, 4th attack!!!
King of the shallow ocean.
First off, the water isn't very clean in the first place.💯
What natural water is clean
There were multiple warnings of sharks feeding in the shallows following their food source. Obviously people either didn't see the warnings or they chose to ignore them.
Is the hurricane approaching the gulf causing the sharks to behave out of the norm? Padre hasn’t had a shark attack in 5 years
More attacks cuz there are more people in the water.
..
More attacks because of the heat. Feeder fish swim in warmer water near the shore. Sharks come in to eat. If your leg is in the way it becomes lunch.
Did she jump from an electric boat?
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The Mayor of South Padre island wants to ensure visitors that the beaches are safe and that the town plans to continue with the Fourth of July celebrations.
I wonder why it sounds familiar! 😅
🤭
"...that's like ringing the damned dinner bell!".
does he now
Haha damn that mayor. There’s been multiple shark attacks on the Texas coast ranging from Galveston this year to south padre. Didn’t hear much about shark attacks last year and the years before that so something is up with the gulf coast causing the sharks to attack these swimmers. Possibly a bull shark?
They both have bragging rights for life.
Wife: “I survived a shark attack.”
Husband: “I fought a shark and lived.”
Hope they recover from their injuries and from any trauma that may prevent beach fun in the future.
In Florida, in Texas, in the Carolinas.... OUT PAST THE SAND BARS. The sharks hunt out there and see a flash of jewelry or white skin flash and splashing..... it IS a big fish and these things are like lures to them.
Don't swim early morning or mid to late afternoon that's when the fish bite and are feeding... ALL fish. And out past the sand bars always, you attract things in deeper water and they follow and attack you.
That rules been out the window for sometime, there's attacks going in in the middle of the day!
Terrifying... I feel like this is becoming more common but I could be wrong. Scary none the less
Sharks ARE big fish.

They probably mean that the sharks don't go looking for human legs. But if your leg is in its way or you haul off and kick a shark do you expect it to be kind and cordial in return? GET OUT OF ITS WAY!!! Geesh. The ocean is its home. You are a visitor. Have some respect.

What kind of shark. Should be the first thing the release after telling us about the people injured. Scary stuff.

@nitronitrol1274
Why? Do u really think it matters what kind of shark it was? 🤦
@@angelrose1714 Because different types of sharks are more aggressive, most shark attacks are from just a few types of sharks.
I bet it was a tiger shark. Or maybe a lemon shark. Tiger sharks are super nasty and aggressive.

You're so blessed ❤ you've got an amazing husband and community around the beach ❤ God bless you all.
We don’t have any business being out in that ocean, swimming in pools much safer
I like to sit on the beach and watch the waves
I always recommend doing a shark test before deciding to swim in the ocean I do.
Which shark test?
@jmmch3358 The shark test my dad taught me when I was a kid: You go down to the water go in about ankle deep and bend down and vigorously swish your fingers in the water it doesn't have to be very long, and if the water feels wet there are definitely sharks out there😁
I used to go surfing and body boarding when i was a teenager. After shark attacks on the local beach near me, I completely gave up that hobby when i turned 20.
Prayers 🙏🏽
I am glad yall are gonna be OK. That must have been terrifying!
The last time I was in the Ocean was at Padre Island. I was in upper chest deep water. The water was murky. A school of fish 2 feet or more in length started jumping out of the water less than 10 feet from me like minnows fleeing from a large mouth bass. Whatever was big enough to eat them was in that water, feet from me. I exited the water and that was the last time I've been in the ocean. It will remain that way. That was 36 years ago. The ocean is not my playground. I'll stick to waters where nothing can put me on the menu.
i saw someone people upset at the shark on insta, like...be fr, where is the shark gonna go?
Thats a real man for sure. Way to go bro. Cheers. Be grateful to be alive and thankGod.❤

It always amazes me that people are surprised when this happens. I mean, if you feel the ocean water and it’s wet, there are sharks around.
