I remember remember way back in the day how Nintendo Power said the second stage boss has to take the prize for looking the coolest yet being the easiest to beat.
Este juego lo he pasado tantas veces solo por querer escuchar la música final. Incluso recuerdo que la grabé en un cassette. Creo que hasta ahora debo tener el cartucho del juego por ahí.
3 background layers on the snes. Why didn’t we see this more often? Only other game that springs to mind is DKC. Were the other games using them for effects or something Also yeah this game is great
Imagine for a moment if the team here had had an artist that was as good as ones working on Treasures games back in the day. This could have been totally awesome on SNES. Still good, but visually not exactly gorgeous imo. And it's probably why it was never a bigger hit back in the day.
Design-wise it's somewhat poorer, especially towards the end. Feels really rushed. It also suffers from somewhat janky hit detection, but Strider had that problem as well.
You know I've been trying to remember the name of another SNES platformer that was almost exactly like this, but I can't for the life of me. It was about these two teachers who get pulled into the dreams of a lady named Surreal, I think, and one of the teachers was named Ron and the other one was a lady woh was dressed up kinda like a dominatrix...but it reminded me so much of Run Saber. Damn.
Psycho Dream? I know it involved a man and a woman in the dreams of a girl, but it really didn't feel like Strider to me. Felt like Valis, as the developers were the same ones who did the Valis series.
Bloodreign1 thanks for the suggestion but actually a couple days after I wrote that I thought to look up the list of SNES platformers, found Psycho Dream and I'm pretty sure that's the game I was thinking of, yeah. Appreciated all the same!
It blows Genesis Strider away, the guy behind Strider and this game had more experience by then (can't forget one of his other games, Osman/Cannon Dancer). Better soundtrack, better graphical effects, cooler bosses. 2 playable characters instead of 1. Meanwhile Genesis Strider may have looked good, but was even buggier than the arcade version. The experience from doing this game, and his previous 2 paid off with Strider 2 in arcades and PS1, which blows all the guys previous efforts away, but was released in 98, a few years after this game, and about a decade prior to Strider. No, it is not on Genesis Strider's level, it is above it.
This game was such a big part of my childhood its a shame most people have never heard of it.
Mine too. Me and my uncle would play this every weekend. Good times!
It's a decent Strider clone but it does get overshadowed by the game it borrows from, as well as later clones, such as Osman.
I bought this game yesterday again.
Complete in box pristine condition.
Took me a while to find it.
Same here
I wish this was on the 3ds shop. I miss this game. Spent hours on this game as a little kid.
have you looked at alternate ways of playing this game?

great graphics fast gameplay and impressive bosses
I can't believe I finally found it! My cousin had this and I loved it but I could never remember the name. Atlus made so many great games.
If you loved Strider, you'll love this spot-on clone - it looks and plays just the same, and has lost none of its fun or appeal in the face lift.
Face lift lol
And if you want a copy for your collection, it will eat your wallet up whole, definitely not a cheap game these days.
This game is not on striders level
@@cbdzone5182 definitely beats the genesis version of it anyway

Get to it. There are enough free engines and tools for that and making 2D games isn't as complicated as it was back in '93.

UE, Unity, Godot; the usual suspects. GameMaker would probably be more than enough to make a modern version of this.

thank you for this video . It brought back memories with me and my cousin playing this game
i forgot the name of this game for many years, but i always had that boss theme in my head.
Couldn't think of the name of it to save my life the other day.
I remember remember way back in the day how Nintendo Power said the second stage boss has to take the prize for looking the coolest yet being the easiest to beat.
Ha! I remember that too, that's exactly why I picked that thumbnail! :D
They couldn't even be fucking bothered to make a proper death animation for that boss either lol, sad

I think we all should just hug now.

my brother and i used to play this all the time back in the day Lawnmower man. killer instinct.......... oh the glory days....
it may be a Strider clone but I loved this game when I was a kid.
Eu achei este jogo melhor que Stride na minha opinião.
dude,,,,,,this seriously makes me want to watch 3 ninjas and 3 ninjas kick back. oh man........just so emotional
This graphically beautiful game looks and plays like a cooperative, 2-player Strider II.
Strider meets Valis? Looks cool, never heard of it until now.
Exactly what I thought of it as.
Especially the Valis part; it's like Valis 3 for the MD on steroids.
This game brings me back awesome memories has child
played this game sooo much in the 90s
If they release this on switch online, I'd be pleased as punch.
"Tong City" soundtrack people.😎
Looks okay. Its amazing how small the Strider fan base is. At least there was a PS3/4 game.
It's derivative of Strider, but still a fun game
I couldn't think of this game it was so fun. I thought the guy said holt on one of his attacks or something.
Good old times...

Outro jogo muito bom é X-Kalibur 2097 ou Sword Maniac no Japão.

Omg it took me forever to find the name of this game!
What happened to the alien that took the eagle head to made the hybrid soldier? Never saw him defeated, he just vanished from the game.

FIRE! 🔥
Stryder is obscure but better than Run Saber. But I liked both. These games remember me Star Wars.

This game is so much of pure nonsense...however, music is good, especially on second level.
... strider?
Music: 'Ha Ha Ha Ha tan tan Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha tan Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha tan tan *strange voice* Ha Ha Ha '
Lol it's just saying the name of the game.
am i the only the one who thought the controls were sloppy
This game is not on strider genesis level
I agree, kind of BS they stole the exact character animations from Strider, how lazy and uninspired.
