Hello, I opened my Leica M4 top plate and the surface of the viewfinder window has a hazy stain (appears rainbow like under certain angles). I tried rubbing alcohol, ROR lens cleaner and distilled water and it will not come off. Have you ever seen this before or have any advice to clean and remove it?

M4's viewfinder often sees the same problem as your camera.
This part is caused by the deterioration (oxidation) of the AR coating of the viewfinder.
I currently encounter such a situation and have not dealt with it,
Because if the AR coating is removed and no AR coating is re-coated, the light transmittance of the lens picker will be reduced, and the phenomenon of optical ghosting will increase.
Why not make AR plating!
If you know the number of coating jobs and the number of mold plating jobs, then you should know why you don’t do it.
