Looks great Lou. The paint job is once again is making the model jump to life! The weathering looks good as well. I have some of those dental tools I use in modeling. They come in handy for rescribing panel lines. The tool guy at the State Fair flea market has a large selection at a good price if you need more.
Wow Lou, you got that red spot on perfect! I've been watching this build with a great deal of interest as I bought this kit the day it went on sale for the largely the same reasons you did. Over the last couple of years I have picked up a number of great techniques. Thanks for taking the time to shoot, load into your editing platform, editing, then uploading to RUclips. Your a terrific builder/painter and I for one appreciate ya man!
Just a quick tip sir, the chipping medium works best when you use a stiff damp brush to chip, then clear coat. After that you can safely wash to your hearts content. 👍🏻
Looks Great👍...& what you were saying about the engine vents streaks is correct on the 5ft model which this is based on the streaks go straight back but the 3ft model built for TESB the streaks veer outward .
Lou re the chipping fluid, did you apply water to the paint first before chipping it? The chipping fluid usually works like the hairspray technique. In other words you rub the paint with a wet brush to chip the paint rather than just scrape it off with a pick.
This peasant thinks the wash looks excellent as is now. Superb job Lou! Funny timing with the dental pic. I asked my dental hygienist on my last visit the other week if she had any spares. I made a bargain with her that I’d floss my teeth more if she gave me her spare pic. The things we do for the love of modeling. 🤪
Great work so far. Just a thought why not do what boyd did on his bismark ship, and put in a nicad rechargeable battery with a socket in so you can charge it without opening it, and it will allow you to charge the battery at any time, plus it should be able to run all of the falcons lights.
Chipping fluid has to be reactivated with water and a brush to create the chips and enables tiny chips . If using a brand chipping fluid it should be chipped within an hour. Hairspray has a longer working period and done similarly with water and brush. Picks and scrappers are a bad as they can go thru base coats.
I have always wondered by the black dusting out the top of those circles on the falcon don't go straight back. That doesn't make any sense to me at all, because why would it be going backward, it they weren't all drafted back the same direction? I just don't get it. I can understand the blaster shots can go any direction, but those should all be the same direction and not pointing out at different angles.
But is it that advanced "in universe"? Often referred to as a piece of junk, it's more like an overpowered hot rod. Also consider the psychological advantage of making you enemies think your ship isn't all that much
@@aztekdummy its more advanced than the shuttle which has little oil streaks on it... its main drive is light so fewer moving parts.. agreed it was a tug boat craft but its shown as if shedding its own lube
So Lou... the 5 Foot(ish) Falcon that this PG falcon is based from DOES have the black exhaust going straight back and its a fairly "light" streaking... the smaller 32"ish falcon they made for TESB has the radial exhaust streak... If you need pics I can send them to show the difference :) As for done-ness... I think you're on the borderline of too much wash now... Rust and grime streaks, decals, and flat you'll be good to go.
I opine: you're done. Don't bronze that gilded lily any more! To the camera/RUclips/monitor chain and peering through the sheen, it looks appropriately Millennium-ly crappy. Nice. Tatooeeny... Endgame... 'epic' indeed. Forewarned, I did not drink at all during lunch and thereafter... saw a 4:15 show and it all worked out.
I think the weathering looks good, especially since you're going to be putting the streaking on over top of it. But, it's your model. Did you thin the Mecha color when you sprayed? I don't think it's necessarily designed to be airbrushed and the pigment might have gotten too diluted. Excited to see the finale!
@@aztekdummy Ah, I didn't know you airbrush it, but I've never seen any on a shelf near me. I would've expected it to be called Mecha "Air" or what not ...

Awesome job, looking forward to seeing the finished falcon.

Great build.
I love the mosaic appearance and the grungy texture.
Thank you so much for your time and expertise.
Looks fantastic Lou, just like I remember the Falcon looking. Thanks for the great videos.

Looking forward to seeing the finished product Lou! Hope you can bring it to the Iwata Friday Night Meet & Greet!

Sorry Lou ignore my comment as I have now watched some more video and of course you knew that

Fantastic work as always, Lou!
Decals and done! It looks fantastic!

great model and work but often wondered that such an advanced ship would really suffer from oil stains... just a thought

Wow I could never do as much justice to my Finemolds Falcon as you have to your Bandai.
It looks great though! Very talented☺️
The damage is when Han brings it out of space and lands. All the marks and rust is caused by flying in atmosphere.
Hi Lou,
Can Aztec Dummy products be purchased directly from you or are they only available from cult TV man?
Many thanks 😃
There are a couple of other places as well, but Steve Carrie's the widest variety.

It says airbrush on the bottle, but maybe could have used more shaking

My vote: let it be. It's unique in a good way.
So you're saying that those dental tools have seen some real ship
W O W !!! is all I have to say. Just go with you like after all its yours and no one else .
looking Great!
looking good thare like em see morer as post it
Youuu hav dun a fantastical job. you have such a bitiful voice so relxy.. ima so fukt up frm all the chipng……..goodnite
The exhaust stains do streak straight back, at least on the 5 foot model. And they come from the small vents not the large ones. imgur.com/ZBmFU4j
You should use Vallejo model air insignia White its the exact color you want☺️
That's what I wanted to use, but none of the local shops carried it
Ah bummer, it’s a really great color im using it myself right now for mine😅 looking forward to the final reveal! You’re videos are great☺️
I would vote no more weathering. it looks so good the way it is
