The g.o.a.t for many of us. This to me was when he had his best band and his best material..... having said that I loved 90% of what we did and put out. Untouchable on stage and as a musical genius.

He was the coolest motherf***er to ever walk the earth. “No one in the whole universe will ever compare.” I saw him 6 times and every time was this good.

This is off of the album SIGN O' THE TIMES, which was an incredible album. The title song is incredible as well. You don't hear it in this live version, but Prince had an alter-ego he used to have sing songs on a number of songs and this was one of those songs. The alter-ego was named CAMILLE. The voice is different when he sings as Camille. Prince was a genius musically but could also be a bit out there at times, but it was all great! The album had some great songs - the title track, "Starfish & Coffee", "Play in the Sunshine", "Hot Thing", "U Got the Look (with Sheena Easton)", "I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man". Fantastic album!

This comes from the full length concert video ‘Sign O’ The Times’ around 1987. Watch the whole thing, it turned me into a Prince fan. Phenomenal stuff. Prince definitely channeling a little James Brown in this one.

Yeah. For all the glamour of his other eras, I just don’t believe you can sit a musician down, or someone who is at least musical, in front of SoTT LIVE and them not come away with at the very least a huge respect for Prince and his band… much more likely, a new fan.

In a way, it was those splits that killed him. They're really hard on the body, especially past 40. He was looking for ways to relieve the pain, and, even though he had not been into drugs generally, and he did end up using fentanyl for the pain, and eventually had an overdose

If he hadn’t turned Jehovah’s Witness, he would have been able to accept the new hips, and it makes me sad he never got to be at least a little bit bionic. Can you imagine. Anyway. Cults stay ruining our best (and others)

Housequake was his diss track against House music, which was starting to take the lead with popularity amongst a new generation.
Ironically the godfather of Chicago House was Frankie Knuckles, who worshipped Prince.
In fact before he broke through with white suburbia, Prince was a critical darling cult artist, whose followers included gay black male teens in the Midwest. Detroit and Chicago station’s played Prince often. He was considered a virtual local due to his constant touring in those cities.
Prince’s innovative use of new drum machine technology and his sexually expressive party lyrics, profoundly influenced the development of Chicago House and Detroit Techno.
Carl Craig, the father of Detroit Techno, being another gay black artist who was directly influenced by those early Prince records. Especially Dirty Mind, Controversy and 1999.
Prince would later infuse elements of House into his music in the early 90s. He even used a rap on a song called Cindy C that’s from an early House track, which was influenced by his music.
And yeah Prince could dance. MJ had his own smooth style and nobody moved like him.
But Prince was James Brown on fast speed. And he could do it for hours and hours never tiring.
He was not of this planet.

The colour is peach. As far as I know, people were asked to wear peach and black at the "sign o' the times " concert. I was too young to go, that was so disapppoiting.
Thanks for your reaction videos. It's got to see how real muscians like you react on Prince.

Do prince on the George Lopez show singing the beautiful one with ballerina Misty Copland also Prince at the rock and roll hall of fame with Tom petty, Steve winwood, Dhani Harrison and others doing as my guitar gently weep, Dave Mathew’s band live in Central Park NY doing Ants walking, Fleetwood Mac the dance concert, if you do any Fleetwood Mac videos try to do the live version Linsey Buckingham and Stevie Nick were a couple in the before and during time with group broke up and would write songs about each other have the other sing background would be mean mugging or playing aggressive in earlier day Lindsey would play aggressively but as he go older he was calmer non Steve she as they were older when she would sing her song about there relationship she would stare him down it like should I be here, read up on them, I have read when they were young which on stage he threw his guitar at her, at Christine mcvie house she attended him he chased her around house she ran outside he caught her the rest of the band caught them before he can do anything she to him if they don’t get you my brother and father will how true it is i don’t know, he was the one who got her into group, there back story is interesting to me would like to see bio series on this group not a movie in theater but a 5 part series or how many days they would need, on each member of group whole group but Steve and Lin would need most or more episodes the other one a piece or one with both but Lin and Steve need the most, Lin plays his guitar with out a pick he was self taught
