Why do they spend so much time talking about how you need the right guitar and a guitar with no holes in it or anything? In my opinion shouldn't a new player be working with whatever they can get their hands on and fine tune the quality of their instrument once they actually have a clue what their doing?
This is great! I took classical guitar lessons from age 9 to 18. But, I have played very little since then for the past 50 years. I greatly need a great refresher! to square one. I loved this video - so beautifully presented! Thank you! I'm jazzed about getting back into guitar after only listening to guitar music but not playing it for decades.
I completely disagree regarding your comments on nail and nail length. Plucking produces a certain sound but the goal I think is to achieve the perfect attack and "release" with your own physical characteristics. Too much nail tends to sound tinny with no body but with experimenting and lots of practice using a combination of nail, flesh and angle of attack and you will be rewarded with stage worthy tone.
Isn't it a bit like being in your own kitchen? It's yours. Do what you want. What works for some doesn't work for all. Ask anyone, or read about people that have played with Willie Nelson.
I'm into metal and recently been playing a lot of jimi Hendrix but I feel like I need to learn this to go to the next level, I've been using different genres to help me progress, going to work on this when I get some new guitar strings for my classical guitar
I love my classical guitar. I have an inexpensive Emperador. I've been playing for almost a year and have learned a bit of finger picking even tapping the guitar to make drum sounds while playing. This is a big step for me seeing that I've been playing death metal for 30 years. I listen to all kinds of music. I would say my least favorite genre is country music. I've tried my entire life to like it and I just don't. I have a handful of songs and country music that I like. Bluegrass is another interesting genre because of the banjo and the skill it takes to play that instrument. I enjoy reggae rap dubstep techno classical rock and roll heavy metal death metal Lo-Fi jazz blues and especially instrumental music of various kinds. I find the Indian sitar to be a very intriguing instrument. Flamenco music is a strong love of mine. So I guess in short I love all music except for country music and probably elevator music and I don't really care too much for Mumble rap but even all of the good rapist they don't like Mumble rap either. LOL anyway sorry this message is really long I voice type. I just wanted to say that the classical guitar has one of the most beautiful sounds I've ever heard and I give massive amounts of respect to those who play it because it is extremely difficult to play these instruments well. Favorite song that I'm learning... Fingerpicking moonlight sonata and I have found that tuning the guitar from standard e down to e flat or possibly even d sounds fantastic. Much love for classical music and flamenco it is definitely some of the greatest music in human history. There's this one fellow named Marcin that I've seen here on RUclips and he plays in such a way where I almost think he's not even human. Lots of other guitarist too that are great. It is truly a blessing to hear some of the Masters play and I hope to be one myself one day. Long live music! ❤️

I don't have a classical guitar yet but it will be my second purchase after a new bridge for my other electric. Until then, I'll be playing these on my electric that still works.

Hi, I have been a electric guitarist and electric guitar teacher lol for 37 years but I have never ever however but generally played a nylon string guitar and after developing cancer having to take some time off, I have decided to completely switch to classical guitar as my love for the music has grown exponentially, and I have some friends at the local Richmond music Academy in Virginia, who have offered me an opportunity to teach modern jazz And electric music for them in exchange for my classical guitar lessons which will give me a lot of access however, in my search for guitars, I have found the Tonewood of yesterday to not truly be available today the German spruce with the Ebony back sides seem to be the guitar of yesterday, however, today options are certainly out there for many different choices as crossover guitars as full-blown classical guitars anywhere from $200 to 15 or 20,000 I have seen but realistically I have looked at Yamaha Cromona and a few others Alhambra. I am curious to know as there is one particular guitar you might point me in the direction of And do you think Cedar is the better top With rosewood or do you prefer a particular type spruce in general looking around the $3000 mark don’t you wish are certainly I do that Eastman made some nylon string guitars if they do I have not found them but they’re quality and six string acoustics has been fantastic, and my students certainly benefit from them Lol thanks for any advice at 50. I am just looking to make good decisions I have less Paul that cost $20,000. Surely I can afford to spend a reasonable amount on a good guitar but truly sometimes good is not necessarily the case it’s all about application, and I am truly trying to go traditional classical, not crossovers thanks 2:50

The Sound hole is offset from middle for technical resonance reasons and ALL 'Guitars' have six strings. 'Gui' means Six and 'Yar' means Strings. Hence 'Sitar' meaning Silly amounts of strings. ..

I got my first 3/4 classical guitar made in romania back in 1996, at first i didnt liked it, i found it hard to play since i was 8 years old and a beginner. 25 years later, i still have this guitar and i actualy love it. In 1996 it was considered a cheap guitar, but today, compared to what is considered a cheap guitar, mine is actualy a good guitar. I did 5 years of classical in highschool and than i went throught jazz and blues, wich i also play on this romanian guitar.

Each fingernail is a natural pick that is shaped perfectly to play the guitar. Fernando Sor wrote a book about guitar technique. Playing with fake nails can work, I've used that. But it still doesn't match the quality of real fingernails that you've played with for a long time. Playing with a pick, or without fingernails, won't work because the technique and mobility required to play the pieces would be completely lost.
At 2:37 you begin to speak of how high above the fretboard the strings should be. You tells us essentially, not too close nor too far. Respectfully sir, for our benefit, stating some numbers at that juncture instead of presenting very vague guidance, is needed by us. Within a range of 10% to 15% , the string bottoms should be how many 1000ths of an inch, or 1000ths of a cm, above the first fret, and how high above the last fret? Best regards!

Classical guitarist Thu Le wants me to buy a guitar from her website. In U.S. currency, the guitar is slightly over $1000. I am not a concert guitarist. I paid less than $200 for my Lucero classical guitar a few months ago. I don't think paying over a $1000 for guitar that I mostly play in my room makes sense. Thu Le's guitar is an overseas instrument supposedly made in Spain. I know that people are desperate for money during the pandemic. I think a guitar no more than $500 but greater than my Lucero guitar is all I need. I need someone to help me make a right decision. What do you say? Well, you should stop anyway, but playing with your nails is not required. Learning good form and technique is better. And strengthing the finger/hand muscles gradually. (I've heard zinc deficiency is one reason for biting your nails... Good for your immune system too.)

On Classical guitar we don't use pick because it doesn't have pickguard

My understanding is that the guitar was a modified lute introduced to Spain during the time of the Islamic reign.

How do you fix the buzzing sound if your string is too close to the finger board?
Adjust the tress rod in the guitar. If you're afraid to do it, go to a pro at a local guitar shop and they'll adjust it for you
@@prodigaldaughter5978 I've done it. Fixed it for free. There's a screw inside the guitar, which makes the guitar neck concaved or convexed. Now it's like brand new! Thanks for your reply. 💗

You MUST have a CLASSICAL guitar in order to play classical music.. Using any other type of guitar is against the law.

I can only afford something from a junk shop and am left handed. I guess that means I can't play classical guitar. I am poor and disabled my life isn't worth living
Just play with your left hand, you can do that. Switch the strings around and you are good to go.

Well, you should stop anyway, but playing with your nails is not required. Learning good form and technique is better. And strengthing the finger/hand muscles gradually. (I've heard zinc deficiency is one reason for biting your nails... Good for your immune system too.)
