Yes, I found this video helpful and inspiring. I'm an older musician who started with classical guitar but stopped practicing because I got involved in playing with pop bands. Now I've been feeling a desire to get back into the classical guitar and I think it will help to relearn all the basics. Thanks for your channel and hope to be watching more of your tutorials soon.
I have read most of the comments on your video. I'm surprised at some of the negativity . It's a beginner song list, not any other. Keep up the good work! Without feeling one would never make a great musician. Some people are just empty shells. Again a great video.
When I was teaching, it was clear that there was a good amount of material for all the levels. Of course they have to choose three pieces for the grade, but I would show them a few popular pieces and encourage them to learn the ones that they most enjoyed playing. My strategy was that a relatively new guitarist should be really enjoying the music they play, and not just play what they 'should' play. They will certainly know, if they become performance quality, that playing pieces that are in demand, is a requirement. Pachelbel's Canon was a favourite at weddings, and I got the the point that I hated it. It still haunts me to this day.. 🤑
Good general selections, the earlier Simple Etudes/Estudillos Sencillos by Leo Brouwer are excellent, also many of the easier Carcassi, Sor (especially Op 31, 35, 44, and 60), and especially Giuliani's studies are underrated both as music and as studies. Check Giuliani Op 50, the easier studies from Op51 and Op 139 especially. A good reference is Fredirick Noad's 100 Studies For Classical Guitar, still in print I think.
If one is going to learn Carcassi's "Andantino" it might also be worth doing his "English Dance". Slight variations of many parts of the former appear in the later. Most the the parts of "English Dance" that aren't slight variations of things in "Andantino" are things that would fit in as continuations of things in "Andantino" like continuing a melodic line's movement a few notes farther.
Great video, and shows how important musicality and technique are at making even a fairly simple piece sound like a performance. I am a (largely) self-taught older musician, and the tips I would add are: start slow, play small chunks, focus on quality, not quantity of practice. The only piece I wasn't aware of was Country Dance by Carulli - I will look that up.

There are many tutorials about the advanced repertoire on RUclips. I don't know for whom they made tthat tutorial for, the untrained one?. I wonder how someone who is not a classically trained could get those things without knowing the basic. So we need to learn from the beginning like this.
I understand that these pieces are good for learning the various hand techniques, but I find them not very interesting at all. What if I don't find the typical classical repertoire that engaging? Is it possible to learn the required techniques of classical guitar using songs from the modern popular era?
Ironically, a guitarist could play only pieces at this level in his or her repertoire and still be regarded as a competent classical guitarist in many venues.
It's all about how you play it. I'd listen to a beatiful rendition of a Simple piece like spanish romance over a terribly butchered La cathedral any day of the week.
Can you play Op. 60 No. 1 by Carcassi, if not learn the basics first, don't rush and you will be able to play almost anything with lot's of practice, good luck
I'd like to throw in Sor's Study in B minor. It's slightly more difficult than your list (except probably for the last) with its extensive use of barre chords, however it's more satisfying to learn as it has a nice melody. Something you can show off to friends or family. I don't know if it's a good or bad thing, but being self-trained mostly I did not encounter the pieces you have mentioned. As a beginner (decades ago) I jumped straight to the likes of Lagrima and Romance de amor. I have even attempted BWV 996 Bourree which at the time I have thought be a very difficult piece
Absolutely boring, sorry. If I would have to learn these pieces, I would certainly discontinue playing guitar. But probably you think about playing guitar completely different. As I play also pop, flamenco and love songs, the music is the first priority, even if it is a little bit more work for learning. I‘d rather simplify the difficult part than playing it absolute perfect as written by the music sheets. But I might be wrong. The most important thing is learn it without music sheets or tabs and play it slowly when meeting difficult parts. 🤭😋
I think I get what you’re saying but i also have no idea what you’re saying… The purpose of these pieces of music, or to work on these techniques at this point of development for the student. It is through learning these techniques on easy material that’s playing more difficult material isn’t as frustrating. So, in a way that Music is the top priority as well as the goal is to play it well, and serve the music to the best of your ability.

As a child I had to learn piano and classical guitar as it was learned in the musical universities. Very unsuccessfully. Later I played with a good friend together only guitar. This was the only time I learned music. This was the time where fun was much more important than perfection and Jimmy Hendrix was born 🤭😋 🎸 . Have fun.
I agree and also they all sound similar! Having said that I wouldn't normally have bothered to make a negative comment. Normally I would just move on.... but yeh they are completely boring !!!

I quit player for 20 years but picked it back up 6 months ago. Estudio in C was one of my favorite studies in classical guitar class in high-school
