Asmongold WON'T play WoW again!
he turned wow into another variety thing it has been two years now, he'll play occassionaly on new big updates but not everyday
This is why I watch older WoW sessions & comedy WoW sessions. Person playing WoW to spread their anger, rage, depression.
Hating WoW then falling in love with it again when something new launches. Thats the eternal cycle

The only thing I’ll miss about Asmon playing WoW would be his transmog and mount off streams. Some of his best content.
It got stale tbh, he was doing it weekly when he used to stream wow. Was better when he did it monthly or longer
Only speaking for myself here, but I rarely watch streamers who quite obviously don’t love the game they are playing, if you don’t like the game anymore, quit. It’s really not worth your mental health trying to get through your day doing something you don’t enjoy. I started watching Xaryu because he genuinely likes the game, compared to asmon
Agree with you, I've stopped watching certain gamers who play aggressively angry, extreme cursing, throwing hate remarks, can't seem to like anything. Why watch & be depressed? Gaming should be enjoyable, fun playing in actions.
Penguinz0 definitely enjoys the games he plays, I really enjoyed his recent Deformed playthrough and thats a game I would never play myself.

Xaryu plays 1 game, not "games." That 1 game is 20 years old. I can not imagine someone so obsessed playing 1 game for the rest of their lives, its certainly time to move on and enjoy actual good games.

The community is what ruins WoW for me. Between the gatekeepers and the proud AV afk’ers, nothing turns me off WoW more than the people playing it.
Yeah, I feel that especially in SoD and Cata classic. I'm a more dedicated hardcore player but I don't like sweaty forced meta play.
On retail I just don't interact with people, so I wouldn't know.There my biggest turn off is the game itself. Blizzard only caters to completionist collectors and and masochist elitists. If you look foreward to any different kind of content you won't find it on retail anymore.
Specially in classic, im very surprised to see the classic community being 10x worse then retails. What a shame. Its honestly tiresome playing classic because of people.

Even though I still play playing wow alone is just not as fun.

Asmon didn't say he wont play WOW again. He didn't even say he wouldn't stream WOW again. He only said he wont go back to JUST streaming WOW.
Yeah this dude had 80k viewers the other day when he was commenting on Trump rally live events. His reaction content is better than his gaming content. I usually just switch it off when he starts gaming.
That isn’t even the reason, WoW in itself has reach a state of being repetitive, poor choices by the developers. After 20 years it’s more or less the same game. That’s a long damn time, each season Oh have to refarm gear.

I think his love for the game passed away when his mother passed. I bet he can’t go into playing it without reminiscing great memories with her.
It happened way before. He left WoW when the huge mass of players left around 9.1. When someone starts playing a variety of games instead of maining WoW, it's very hard to return. There is no strong attachment anymore to the character in the game and exploring a different game every month is super fun. I feel the same way, tried playing WoW a couple times but I simply can not do it for more than 2 weeks.
His love passed away for everything not just the game losing your parents is very heartbreaking
@@szilardenyedi2855 Yup, I'm the same way i quit a few months back. Not because the game wasn't fun for me anymore but because of real life. Work takes up allot of my time and I started going to the gym now about a year ago. Also recently added another gym day and more hours to my gym time, so my gaming time is limited. I also like playing different games so I had a choice, either quit WoW and play other games or make WoW my only game. And while WoW is a good game, it feels like a job sometimes and after playing it for almost 20 years I've had enough. There are so many good games right now and on my steam backlog. WoW is good sure, but it's to old to compete with games I haven't played yet.
I think Shadowlands just killed his passion for the game. as it did for many other people.

It's a 20 year old game. Imagine only playing and streaming Halo 2, which was also released in 2004. You would have to be obsessed/addicted to play that long.
@@Raine1990Bad comparison. WoW is a totally different game compared to 20 years ago with constant new updates. They just took a wrong turn and for someone like Asmon retail isn't fun anymore. He literally said he will play SoD and that is a spin on the 20 year old version of the game. So age has nothing to do with the fun you can have with the game.
@Furellus the game was fun 18-20 years ago, when most of us 30+ year old started, now it is only a shell of its original. Asmond loved vanilla/BC and shows interest in playing that era of the game, but deep down, he knowns WoW would never return to the game it was.

I dont think he quit wow only for time reasons. He doesnt play the game because it sucks. The World of Warcraft we used to know and love is dead - just like the company that produced it.

he's just gotten older and changed. If you look at the numbers, it's not negative for his career. I loved the wow streams from over 5 years ago that were so cool and entertaining. But I haven't been a watcher for a long time, even the RUclips videos don't interest me anymore. he has a different community now and that's okay. He accompanied me for years and now he hasn't been there for years. the old days were great. But this constant crying that wow is bad just because you're no longer 17 years old and everything is new and cool was also really annoying.

Not really a big surprise, he has said for many years already that he really dislikes the way blizz has structured the retail progression is horrible and it has killed his enthusiasm for the game. He really has no interest in nolifing it anymore as long as the game plays the way it currently does. At this point even if they did fix it he is busy doing alot of other things in his life, he dosnt have time to play as much as he did before, so its not gonna happen.
He’s just way too big to ever play wow in a way that’s fun. At least streaming.

I remember on any given day he would have 2-300k people just watching him farm old content on retail. People would just throw money at him as fast they could it was insane. Dude use to be a good player. The fun part about wow is earning things. When you become famous and are given free carries, rare mounts, gladiator carries..... ofc he ruined the game for himself. Now that he isnt as as great he wants the game dumbed down more cause ground mechanics are too hard for him, and if you its a him issue he will say youre a shill lol.

Yeah i have watched Asmongold on and off for as long as i can remember.
At start ofc because he was very good at the game, so i had something to learn by watching his stuff.
But i continued watching because he is quite intelligent and have very logical and sensible takes on many various topics.
He is also brutally honest about what he thinks and i completely vibe with his non censored approach to delivering his opinions.
I hate censorship of any kind and i love honesty and truth.
So his intelligence in combination with that is what makes me still watch him.
He's done enough. He' played the game since like 2005, it's almost 20 years ago, he clearly doesn't enjoy it as much anymore. Like the last 3-4 years it's been a downhill for his interest in wow, the last expansion where he was fully engaged was like Legion or Bfa, after that he played sometimes.
Damn, I guess we all better quit too now. Let's be honest, he hasn't really played wow in a long time and it's no big deal. Most people don't watch him exclusively for that anyway.

Side note, the time periods you pull will show wildly different numbers. Comparing his peak WoW numbers over the last 5 years is not fair, it's cherrypicking. Today, he is a more popular Just Chatting streamer. I'm not debating why that is, but it's the case.

Unlockable mounts, weapons are mostly lame.
Only the fluid gameplay has held up WoW, and even that is slowly becoming stale because of the above is too heavy for it to carry.
