Damerau sings well, but the overall performance is dulled by Inbal's humming. If one wishes to hear this work at its best and most tragic, I suggest listening to any of several recordings by Fischer-Dieskau.
What a beautiful recording of this relatively un-heard work. Full disclosure: I am Mahler fan, and this piece is Mahler through and through. And the soloist displayed lovely tone and a wide range. HOWEVER, I had to stop listening to the recording because of the conductor’s incessant singing/vocalizing during the performance. It was extremely distracting, and because of this I cannot recommend this recording. Unfortunate.
I agree that it's distracting, but the elderly may be less conscious of these things, even with their experience. Everyone, including the younger, has their quirks, for better or worse.
Sublime and very beautiful Okka.
Thank you for a great recording of nahlers songs for dead children. It’s beauty.
Maxmilian t
Ya hacía tiempo que no escuchaba a Okka von der Dammerau antes, no era tan voluptuosa, sigue con su perfecta dicción y su exquisita técnica.
Belíssima música
Belíssima voz
Sou muito grato
Incredible
Do you here the conductor singing????
I thought I was wrong but yeah, it's the conductor singing...
Ruins the whole performance for me.
Great voice very emotional
This reminds me of my friend Maged Hawasly
インパルのマーラーを久しぶりに聴きました♪ダムラウさん何ですね~(*^^*)
Браво!!!
Viktor Frankl’s fav piece

Hmmm, didn't some scifi films steal from this?
They stole a lot from Planet Suite by Holst and Stravinskij.
¡Que se calle ese hombre, que la cantante es ellaaaaaa!
I do enjoy Mahler and this concert - but does anyone else hear someone humming along? The conductor, perhaps? Very distracting... F.
I hear it loud and clear. It,s maestro Inbald, and its not the first time I hear him do it.
One would think an 83 year old conductor would know to be quiet... * sigh *
@@cuttwice3905 He was always a hummer. Back in the 80's when he recorded all the Mahler Symphonies he did the same.
At first I thought it was part of the piece but it got really annoying and I was like: is the conductor singing along??? Wtf???
I agree that it's distracting, but the elderly may be less conscious of these things, even with their experience. Everyone, including the younger, has their quirks, for better or worse.
I wish Mahler had not composed that horrid obligato
for the conductor. I will say, however, that Maestro
Inbal performs it well...
Inbal's humming is so annoying, nearly wrecks the performance.
