I had the great honour and pleasure to sing with the Prague Chamber Choir, accompanying Ewa in a series of concerts in Valladolid and Léon in the year 2009, an experience that went to the marrow of our bones and one that we will never be able to forget ... She sang mostly Rossini which is no surprise as she was, still is and probably forever will be remembered as one the greatest Rossini singers, along with the legendary Marilyn Horne ... Ewa´s voice was deeper, darker and slightly less agile than Marilyn´s, however the sheer volume of her voice and her overwhelming personality and stage presence cast a different, darker and more dramatic light on the music that we know mainly thanks to and in the interpretation of those two unforgettable operatic heroines ... Rest in peace, dear Ewa, and thank you for what you gave to the world of music with your precious gift of beauty, you will never be forgotten ...
It's too sad day to listen it. I'm grateful I had that opportunity to listen this performance live.
R.I.P. Mrs. Ewa.

Mein Gott, das ist eine richtige Bildungslücke, dass ich diese großartige Sängerin nie wirklich wahr genommen habe! Muss gerade überlegen, ob ich jemals die "Kindertotenlieder" so zu Herzen gehend gehört habe.
Ich hab dir doch gesagt, hört dich mal durch Podles` unglaubliches Repertoire und du wirst Dinge finden, die du so noch nie gehört hast. Auch wenn sie immer mal wieder lispelt ;-)

...almost unbearably sad. There is something about hearing these songs sung by a true controlto that gives them an almost heroic cast which seems to amplify their tragic quality. Podles is of course a great artist and at her best here.

Ciclo de Lieders entre los cuales es el KINDERTOTEN LIEDERS (ciclo de canciones para los niños muertos)....cuando se les había muerto un niño y su esposa enojada le recrimino esta decisión de componer este lieder de una música impresionante, especial el tercero.

I don’t think so. I sang it, it really does break your heart,you do not need to act. You live through it, believe me. The first time I only murmured it with a pianist in a classroom, the magic already started. And when you have people in front of you, you weep it out to them,and they respond and help you. I cannot explain it. There can be more “ Nordic” interpretations, but it is the magic of the music and your own emotion that does it all. No need to act at all.

was soll jetzt das, diese grimmigen Gesichter der Musiker sprechen Bände wohl zerstritten bis zum geht nicht mehr!!!
