As a Bruce Springsteen fan for over 40 years, this cover of Atlantic City is one of the best I have ever heard. His own stuff is absolutely fantastic- a real genuine raw talent- something which has been missing for years. Sam Fender I hope you conquer the world.
He deserves more recognition, i mean his voice gives me chills every time he sings. Hope you to get popular because you gonna blow up the roof when that happens 😁
I'm kinda torn between a love for the band (especially deano) and his solo stuff like. I definitely prefer his solo stuff cos his voice isn't overpowered by the drums but maybe if he just keeps mixing it up between band and solo he will be onto a winner. A lot of people know he's got talent like. I hope he sees this comment eh Billy, son 😉
Agreed. The only voice that connects with me is Dave's, But this guy has a voice of an angel..Quite adapt given the climate! A breath of fresh air and a superior voice. Bravo 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Now look at him 😍 I seen him post about someone setting his tent on fire at Leeds festival when he wasn't famous, someone came along and peed on it and put it out, he then said I don't know your name but just to thank you because you saved the Leeds headliner for this year. What a feeling going from getting wrecked and in the normal campsite, to headlining the same festival years later 😍
My 7 year old son said to me "Dad why you always playing Sam Fender" I smiled and thought "You'll thank me when your older son".....smashing cover btw....raw emotion in the voice can't be faked.
@hazelmoore2976 It is....love it.. Good sound this lad.... Live @reading Festival borders...n from tunnel..I'd not heard this track even̈...ever...fucking embarrassed 😂
Listen to this all the time. It's a deep tune. Bold statement but prefer it to Bruce's. Love that you can hear Bruce's influence in a lot of Sam's music. Best music artist to come about in along while. Respect Sam Fender. Thanks for the music
Saw Sam at the Ulster Hall Belfast tonight playing support to Jake Bugg, two guitars and a mic blew me away with his vocals! song writing and his performance-last song was on a keyboard and his voice resonated around the hall-echos of Jeff Buckley in the air!
Rightly so Aidan, Sam's incredible! Did you see he mentioned Jeff Buckley as one of his big influences in his 5 Essential Tracks? You hit the nail on the head with that comparison 🤗
This does it for me,this guy just has what it is people are looking for in music,he's one of a kind.. enjoy him.. music is special and you need the right people to deliver it..Sam is someone who can do that and has the personality to go with it..
The power and feeling in your voice is unreal, as a previously settled North East couple now listening to this in Australia you are dynamite son, the lyrics in 'Leave Fast' could be about many UK folk out here, keep going fella and would love to see you gig on the other side of the world some time soon
Soooo much talent, I've only been listening to him for a couple of months and my god this kid is good, I'm vibing so much to his music I'm literally buzzing!
in this song and hypersonic missiles his voice reminds me a little of Brandon Flowers from The Killers. Sam Fender is the perfect musician, so much grit and power in his voice, his song writing is amazing as well, it was interesting to read about his writing process.
Serena Hussain singing sounds like flowers songs sound like Springsteen, especially hypersonic missiles. It even has that sax and guitar bit that sounds just like dancing in the dark. Can tell who his influences are.
Love Bruce Springsteen since I've been out the womb, and my mum and dad brought me up on him, and I've loved Sam Fender since he started releasing his amazing music. Keep going, lad. "Everything dies, baby that's a fact, but maybe everything that dies someday comes back. Put your make up on, fix your hair up pretty, and meet me tonight in Atlantic City.." 🖤
David Strafford have you listened to the songs Sam has written? The lyrics have such meaning and his music is so different to most modern songs. Highly recommend you give them a listen, I’m hooked!
Have been listening to this on repeat since discovering it yesterday. I'm a big fan of Bruce but this version is actually better then his. So much emotion in his voice. Love love love Sam! So talented and gives me hope for this generation
Poetry in motion. Great original track, but F me what a great cover. spine tingling stuff 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Bravo Mr Fender. Hairs on the back of my neck officially standing 🧔🏻👌🏼
Only 400 thumbs up??? God I am thankful that this beautiful piece made the way to Germany to me. I love this song, even if I don't know the original version from the boss
This is my favorite Springsteen song, and this is by far the best cover I've seen. With respect to Levon Helm's various versions, as much as I loved his work, he missed something key about this song - Atlantic City is a song about giving up your last bit of integrity out of complete desperation. The tonality should reflect that. I suspect the Northeast of England where Sam Fender is from isn't dissimilar from this section of the Jersey Shore. It's a natural alignment between performer and subject matter. It's a bleak, spare song given a bleak, spare treatment. Great work.
How did I miss this, Springsteen I've seen live and it was at St JAMES PARK in Newcastle where Sam hails from bloody hell. However they both have a way of conveying their emotions in lyrics and very powerful they are. After listening to Sam covering AVICCII Waiting for love and blown away Sam is one of those artists you are not going to see with some dolly bird on his arm you will see him with his band only I love him
Well, they blew up the chicken man in Philly last night And they blew up his house, too Down on the boardwalk, they're getting ready for a fight Gonna see what them racket boys can do Now there's trouble busing in from out of state And the D.A. can't get no relief Gonna be a rumble out on the promenade And the gambling commission's hanging on by the skin of its teeth [Chorus] Well, now, everything dies, baby, that's a fact But maybe everything that dies someday comes back Put your makeup on, fix your hair up pretty And meet me tonight in Atlantic City [Verse 2] Well, I got a job and tried to put my money away But I got debts that no honest man can pay So I drew what I had from the Central Trust And I bought us two tickets on that Coast City bus [Chorus] Well, now, everything dies, baby, that's a fact But maybe everything that dies someday comes back Put your makeup on, fix your hair up pretty And meet me tonight in Atlantic City [Bridge] Now, our luck may have died, and our love may be cold But with you, forever, I'll stay We're going out where the sand's turning to gold So put on your stockings, baby, 'cause the night's getting cold [Chorus] And everything dies, baby, that's a fact But maybe everything that dies someday comes back [Verse 3] Now I been looking for a job, but it's hard to find Down here, it's just winners and losers and "Don't get caught on the wrong side of that line" Well, I'm tired of coming out on the losing end So, honey, last night, I met this guy, and I'm gonna do a little favor for him [Chorus] Well, now, everything dies, baby, that's a fact But maybe everything that dies someday comes back Put your makeup on, fix your hair up pretty And meet me tonight in Atlantic City

I agree 100%
I listened to one of his songs Play God, and instantly recognised an influence from Ben Howard.
If you like this check out Jamie T - Atlantic City cover, so different but also so Springsteen by another British artist.
Not to take anything away from Sam, but as you're a Bruce fan, have a look at Carson McKee's cover of this.

Sam Fender needs to release all his Springsteen Covers because they are bloody amazing!!!!!!!
Yes like the dancing in the dark and Atlantic city
Can we just appreciate how well the sound engineer did on this recording.
❤
Fantastico
You are definitely the sound engineer in question...
Word
Respect to this guy for covering the boss!!! There’s Brucey fan’s amongst us kids I knew it!!
He deserves more recognition, i mean his voice gives me chills every time he sings. Hope you to get popular because you gonna blow up the roof when that happens 😁

Your hopes came true, he's absolutely exploding at the moment and well deserved.
This aged like a fine wine mate!

Watching this video of a young Sam singing his heart out…he’s accomplished so much in a short time. Now officially opening for The Boss in May 2023….
Shame he's not going be on with Bruce in Barcelona on Friday - or in London in June. Hope he makes a surprise appearance
Saw the show at Circus Maximus...Sam was fantastic! First time seeing an opening act for BS and the ESB...BRAVO
love SF❤
Oh man! When he sings the chorus, that sweet voice is otherworldly. It would even give The Boss the chills. Perfection.
Isn't it,sweet as..that sound....brook@the musicshed@atlsoundsystemsnprop.a.rentals...

Isn’t it amazing how the raw talent of a new artist can make you fall in love with songs you’ve loved for 30+ years?
The feeling he bring into these lyrics is everything. I felt every word, made a legends song his own
He's just one of those artists that makes the lyrics make sense
True...I think so..
Sounds like somethin ov myself..😂😂...you okay anyhow...
He's got the emotional connection to the lyrics in his voice, like Bruce.
3 mins 15 seconds is such a great emotional moment in this cover... totally agree... class act
Yes. Totally 🥰❤️
My 7 year old son said to me "Dad why you always playing Sam Fender" I smiled and thought "You'll thank me when your older son".....smashing cover btw....raw emotion in the voice can't be faked.
Have you heard his cover of 'dancing in the dark'? Equally as good 😍😍😍
@hazelmoore2976
It is....love it..
Good sound this lad....

I love this song by Bruce, Sam Fender is the realest there is. What a beautiful cover
How am I just seeing this and Sam for the first time! Been under a rock. What a talent, love your work mate.

I love love love Sam Fender....incredible talent, incredible voice and genuine and truthful values and clear connections with his roots...
When he goes up an octave in the chorus, wow!
Listen to this all the time. It's a deep tune. Bold statement but prefer it to Bruce's. Love that you can hear Bruce's influence in a lot of Sam's music. Best music artist to come about in along while. Respect Sam Fender. Thanks for the music
It's just so cool that this Geordie covers The Boss as well as anyone ever could. Sam Fender is one of the best I've heard in many years.
Didn't think this song could get any better ... this is amazing.
As a huge Springsteen fan this is one of the greatest cover Ive heard...
Saw Sam at the Ulster Hall Belfast tonight playing support to Jake Bugg, two guitars and a mic blew me away with his vocals! song writing and his performance-last song was on a keyboard and his voice resonated around the hall-echos of Jeff Buckley in the air!

There's a lot to admire about Sam but his voice is like a gift from the gods...truly spectacular.
This does it for me,this guy just has what it is people are looking for in music,he's one of a kind.. enjoy him.. music is special and you need the right people to deliver it..Sam is someone who can do that and has the personality to go with it..
Straight fire!! I can't believe i just discovered this!
Was already pretty sold on Sam Fender. Finding out he covers Springsteen was just the cherry on top!
Watched this hundreds of times now I'm sure. Stunning
Same 😁
At least 6 times in the last few hours alone
The power and feeling in your voice is unreal, as a previously settled North East couple now listening to this in Australia you are dynamite son, the lyrics in 'Leave Fast' could be about many UK folk out here, keep going fella and would love to see you gig on the other side of the world some time soon
Still here in 2024 love this cover
I hope people watch this in 50 years time and appreciate it as much as I do 💚
Better do...then again...ya never know what music..or maybe lack ov....x-factor...😂😂😂😂

where did you read about his writing process?
I thought the same, sometimes he sounds like Brandon, sometimes Bruce, and sometimes just himself. Such an amazing voice
Serena Hussain singing sounds like flowers songs sound like Springsteen, especially hypersonic missiles. It even has that sax and guitar bit that sounds just like dancing in the dark. Can tell who his influences are.
@@theshed3641 I always thought hypersonic missiles sounded more like Born to Run than Dancing, but yeah, I agree :)
Edit: typo
As much as i love Brandon and the
Killers. Sam Fender's voice is so so so much better!

Brilliant cover. Gets the emotion and sentiment of the song spot on with his voice. Great talent

OMG this is on another level. Album now please.
August 9th... if you didn't already know 😉
How perfectly apt that his surname is Fender when he can play his 'Fender' so well. It's like it was meant to be. Fair play Sam 👌
Have been listening to this on repeat since discovering it yesterday. I'm a big fan of Bruce but this version is actually better then his. So much emotion in his voice. Love love love Sam! So talented and gives me hope for this generation
I agree! Better than the original 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳
Absolutely not lol. But it's a nice cover.
Wow. Flying high in 2022 but this proves how good he is, what a talent. Looks like there is hope for music in the future.
More talent in sams little finger than 99% of the artists out there at the moment.... quality!!!
Poetry in motion. Great original track, but F me what a great cover.

Old school classic mr fender sir xxx🎉
I’m always finding my way back here.
I love Sam Fender and his music. He's a genious, my favorite male singer.
He's a real singer. His music conforts me when I'm alone.
Brilliant cover of one of my favourite Springsteen songs.
My wife kept telling me to check this guy out and I'm glad I did
Awesome version.. he's killing it.
Still absolutely obsessed with this cover!

One of the the few artists that actually covers a Springsteen song well whilst also making it his own
I am so glad as a 22 year old that someone has real taste in music at this time, that i can listen to..
Cor I bloody love this geezer what a voice e has!!
He make me cry for his talent for what he really trasmits
I hope this guy can join the Boss on the stage one day! He's very talented
Still coming back to this and seeing this vid hasnt blown up calms me. Makes this a bit more of a special one after Sam got so big ♥️
This is what music was desperately needing. Sam Fender..the guy is just talent and real..Go on lad🤩🤩😉
Love those Bruce’s covers, and Sam himself is a fcking good musician, with his voice, lyrics, authenticity and passion!
Superb cover version. This guy is brilliant. So much talent.
This is not just a cover. Sam is a great talent. I hope he can make a career as Bruce did.
Loved Bruce since mid 70's never really listened to anyone else all those years , this young man is very good 👍

Exactly I’ve heard the Band version many times and it just doesn’t fit the songs message.
Courageous choice. Well done kid!
Saw him in Bristol and he was outstanding - his voice is flawless!
A fantastic version of one of my favourite Springsteen songs. Love it!!
Quality great voice good cover of the boss with a jeff buckley style
Totally agree! 👏
Stunning cover👏👏👏 Take a bow young man👍☺
Chills man. This is the latest cover of his I've heard and he always makes it feel like his own.
Can't stop coming back to this
Outstanding! Love this guy absolute talent 💙
And the award for the highest capo goes to...
:)))
Capo is on 12 so that the key of the song stays true to the original but an octave down. Creates a beautiful octave chorus with his voice
I couldn’t even fit mine on 12 ahaha
Flying Sock wrong the original song is capo’d on the 2 fret not open tuning
It is used to get a mandolin type sound on acoustic guitar
How did I miss this, Springsteen I've seen live and it was at St JAMES PARK in Newcastle where Sam hails from bloody hell. The riff at the beginning is life
Absolutely tremendous kidda, your doing the toon and shields proud laddie.
Well, they blew up the chicken man in Philly last night
And they blew up his house, too
Down on the boardwalk, they're getting ready for a fight
Gonna see what them racket boys can do
Now there's trouble busing in from out of state
And the D.A. can't get no relief
Gonna be a rumble out on the promenade
And the gambling commission's hanging on by the skin of its teeth
[Chorus]
Well, now, everything dies, baby, that's a fact
But maybe everything that dies someday comes back
Put your makeup on, fix your hair up pretty
And meet me tonight in Atlantic City
[Verse 2]
Well, I got a job and tried to put my money away
But I got debts that no honest man can pay
So I drew what I had from the Central Trust
And I bought us two tickets on that Coast City bus
[Chorus]
Well, now, everything dies, baby, that's a fact
But maybe everything that dies someday comes back
Put your makeup on, fix your hair up pretty
And meet me tonight in Atlantic City
[Bridge]
Now, our luck may have died, and our love may be cold
But with you, forever, I'll stay
We're going out where the sand's turning to gold
So put on your stockings, baby, 'cause the night's getting cold
[Chorus]
And everything dies, baby, that's a fact
But maybe everything that dies someday comes back
[Verse 3]
Now I been looking for a job, but it's hard to find
Down here, it's just winners and losers and "Don't get caught on the wrong side of that line"
Well, I'm tired of coming out on the losing end
So, honey, last night, I met this guy, and I'm gonna do a little favor for him
[Chorus]
Well, now, everything dies, baby, that's a fact
But maybe everything that dies someday comes back
Put your makeup on, fix your hair up pretty
And meet me tonight in Atlantic City
