Zooming across the plains, or meandering through thick woods. One of the best ways to see this or any other country, is from the window of a train. I have spoken. 🧐
That brought back memories. When I lived in Perth, Pemberton was a great long weekend getaway with a young family. The previous Tramway owner also had a WAGR V class 2-8-2 that was operated on the (now removed) rail line north out of Pemberton, I was lucky enough to get a "driver's experience" on it as a birthday gift from my wife, 20+ years ago. From what I can gather, that engine is now mothballed out of public view, hopefully not rusting away.
I'm not sure what happened to the loco but there are no plans for anything more than the trams as far as I know. The new owner does seem to be taking the future of the railway seriously though. I think the Pemberton tram has a good future. The rail line north of Pemberton is closed but the rails are still in place, just growing a lot of trees down the line. 👍😀
Second time we were in Pemberton, there was a steam loco,1213,under steam, went the opposite way,I was lucky enough to ride on the footplate, had the video going all the way there and back a magic ride.Got an enlarged photo on my lounge room wall.Does not run any more,Also climbed the Gloucester tree, same again, video recording all the way up to the top, don't know if that is allowable these days.Keep up the good work!
i had a go at climbing that tree in 1984. i was about 10 metres off the ground and 2 stakes next to each other were missing. i could see a lot more missing up above. i turned back. because i piked out in 1984, i had a go in 1987. there were still stakes missing but not 2 together. i did it and all the short time i was at the top i pondered if search and rescue would send a helicopter to pick me off the top. not likely. i went down the usual way. it was the scariest thing i have ever done in my life and i wouldnt do it again for any amount of money less than a million dollars. they have since installed some safety caging around the climbing stakes but not good enough for me. i think its now closed to the public.
@@IanBrodie-bg1lu , a mate was ahead of me on that first attempt i mentioned. he was talking to me all the way to the top before i returned to the ground. he was on the top yelling out,'where are you?". i was on the ground saying quietly "i'm down here". he said it was great. and 3 years later i found out it wasnt.
@TruthBomberCommentCleaner I always get permission to film. I find that most are very happy for me to video. The new owner is working on extending the trip. I think they will do well. 👍😀
@@allychat8496 Hot tip: the Whiteman Park trams will be undergoing extensions to the Drumpelier Drive entrance, with the aim of meeting up to the new Whiteman Park Railway Station that is part of the new Morley to Ellenbrook railway line.
@@driver667 I've seen them, and ridden on them. But this set is more akin to those rail motors you'll see in my Trams & Trains channel(though somewhat longer than a CPH-class "Tin Hare").
It's amazing to think that this line was surveyed to continue all the way to Nornalup where it was to join the line from there via Denmark to Albany.
I think the route was a little to tortuous and costly so only made it to Northcliffe. 🤔👍😄
Did that trip back in 1999, brings back good memories. also same year did a tour of the sawmill . Thanks for bringing back the great memories.
You're welcome. Glad you enjoyed the trip down memory lane. 👍😀

I wonder where V1213 and the passenger cars that were at Pemberton have gone to. Great video mate 👍

1213's in Dwellingup as of May last year, I believe at least some of the cars are too.

We travelled from Sydney to Perth. Glad you enjoy the videos 😀👍

Great. I would've liked to travel all the way to Northcliffe but it was finished when I got there for the first time years ago. 👍😀
