Real skills talents and efforts are deeply appreciated great job people you should be proud way to go very impressed to the lone ranger the musicians deserve a lot of credit tons of it keep on playing music to my ears much love and respect and appreciation job well done you should be proud way to go very impressed appreciate you guys thanks !!! Joe
I’ve never seen so many elderly people in black suit so happy for 3:15 seconds in unison ever in my lifetime nor will anyone 👍. The only thing missing are the horses, where are they? LEGENDARY!
Classic music at its very best the musicians deserve a lot of credit keep on playing job well done you should be amazed and proud love and appreciate you guys thanks you guys rock a real masterpiece of music still going strong Williams tell overture would be proud appreciate you guys ! Joe
One never sees anyone playing this without looking like they're loving it. Whether it's Glen Campbell on a 12 string guitar or Buddy Greene on a harmonica, or the Grimley brass band, this is a fantastic piece of music. It lifts my soul no matter when and where I hear it. Wonderful performance, thank you very much.
Bravo ! What energy from the band, and the drive from Maestro Harper. Seriously fantastic stuff, Ian Roberts on Soprano too, that top A 0:10 - 0:12 would love to see him back at Cory on Sop. Tom H solo was sublime **clappy hands*
Wow. Just wow. Every so often when I need a lift...or something to smile about, I search this out. Thank you...maybe someday, will see you on the "other side of the pond". I'm in charge of a venue just as beautiful as yours there...but...keep giving us reason for home, Maestro!
First thought: That tempo is way too fast for this music. But it actually does work, and not just in a "look how fast we can play" way. That is impressive.
No. You're not used to someone taking the time to read the score and the tempo correctly. 160 crotchets a minute equates to 320 quavers a minute which is BLOODY FAST.
@@isopath1 Yes, it's supposed to be fast, but Cory is closer to 180 here, and clearly above the usual tempo. (I don't know where you're getting the number 160? This brass band arrangement? I don't know if Rossini wrote metronome markings, but I've looked at two editions of the original and they were both marked ♩= 152 Allegro Vivace. 152 is not much different to 160, so not much to argue about, but you don't have a leg to stand on if you're arguing for original intent of the composer, as this is played at a notably quicker tempo than either.) But as I initially said, this is well played, and they are making their tempo work. That is the important thing.
Three thoughts: 1) Now THATS how you freakin play the William Tell Overture! 🤤🤤 2) I think this is the best Conductor I’ve ever seen. He truly understands that his role is to get out of the musician’s way, direct traffic and have fun doing it. That’s what it’s all about. 3) I can’t help but feel like this version is like the song from “That Thing You Do,” where the drummer starts playing the song TONS faster than they usually play it, and the rest of the band is like “Eh screw it. Let’s just for it,” and then absolutely CRUSH it. Haha
I was at that concert. It was really good! (By the way, the choir standing behind the band were the Treorchy Male Choir. There aren't many places where you can hear a world class brass band and a world famous choir perform in the same beautiful venue on the same evening.)
This is one of the better performances I have heard. Aaron Copeland conducts the New York Symphony Orchestra with Leonard Bernstein standing in the wings, but this is far superior due to the bad quality of recordings then.
Really enjoyable to both watch and listen to. First class brass. I think the only time I have heard the William Tell Overture played at that tempo was on the soundtrack to the film A Clockwork Orange. Stunning, nevertheless.
Christianity is closely connected with Western people's life. Very impressive. Very nice churth this is. I love this Overture of Williiam Tell by Rossini. I have not heard the Italian orchestra, why not??? Rossine should be Italian. They are more famous for OPERA.
That is honestly the best William Tell I have heard.
It's the Cory Band, that explain all
Yessssss 🙌🏾
Listen to Abbado and the Berlin Phil...
Really? You hear the first mistake at 0:04 ...
@@GupStar and the soprano at 0:39.
Why do they play so fast? Because they can! Bravo 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
And because the score says 160crotchets to the minute.
at this rate, the horse won't be able to run 😵
I don’t think it is played well. It’s needlessly fast. Impressive but it loses majesty at this tempo.
@@isopath1 This is way over 160. More like 170 - and at that speed, a small increase is exponential.
@@ThomasJPitts agreed but I dont think that was the
Brings tears to your eyes , i keep thinking how LUCKY is that audience to witness these world class brass players at their finest , sheer brilliance .

I’m a brass bander and i think the most impressive part is the speed combined with the precision.
Hi Ho AG.
I love how he conducts! It's just so clear how he want the piece to sound like.
thats philip harper for you
The conductor is a GENIUS. He LED perfectly, so that the band could actually follow his directing. Amazing, gifted man. Doctor George Whitehead
Well that has to be the most amazing William Tell I've ever heard, incredible!
The cornet soloist was just awesome
The conductor was a decoration
WOW! That was absolute perfection 👏👏👏
Hell of a tempo, well done Tom on that awesome solo part.
No!!!. 160 crotchets to the minute is not a funeral march
I like this conductor
Well….there’s fast and then there’s SUPER FAST🤣😂🤣. Only the Cory Band. Brilliant, absolutely fantastic! Keep it up everyone, you are the best. 🩷🩷🩷👏👏👏
I think this is the first time I have ever heard the WTO at Flight of the Bumblebee tempo. Well done.
Y0u mean first time you've heard it played at correct tempo
r u related to the late sir Gustav Holst ? ☺ ♫♪
I like it but it is kind of nuts
Read this as WOT (wide open throttle) at first.
LoL
i play the trombone and this has inspired me to join the band of the royal marines I have been in the band for 2 months now!
Eb cornet working their butts off! Well done! Bb solo - fantastic!!

Bloomin BRILLIANT. THE VERY BEST BRASS BAND EVER!🩷🩷🩷
They all look so modest as if it was nothing special .................takes your breath away as simple as that .
It’s so fluid! Like water rushing through the rapids and over the waterfall! Astonishing and glorious. Thrilling every time I hear this performance.
One of the best versions I've heard 👍🏻
As a long ago tuba player, I keep coming back to this amazing performance by all, especially those four big brass masters!
Hahaha, the choir after the long note at 0:14 got me speechless.
And that, kids, is how you double tongue.
Wow. Fast AND tight. Outstanding
Brilliant, just found you guys after watching BBC Breakfast News. Will be an avid follower xx

It is fast for it to sound like a cartoon chase song.
Something similar to Wallace and Gromit or Looney tunes or animaniacs.

Goosebumps, bravo Solo cornet, lovely sop just sitting on the top. Really enjoyed this x
WOW!! Just plain WOW!!!!!!

not only incredible playing but incredible Dynamics
Why didn't the audience give the band a standing ovation for this song?!
Awesome Performance 🎉
Beautifully executed. Stunning performance. Thank you Cory Band!
The cornet player in the middle section is totally awesome!

Excellent sound. You should be proud of your performers and your video producer.
That triangle player was giving 'em hell, too. Lol.
I was bouncing up and down in my chair, and I'm almost 70 :)
Just wonderful, what can I say?
BRAVO !
Being an american I embarrassed to say I first heard it on the Lone Ranger TV show. I loved it then and still love it now!
Someone once defined an intellectual as a person who could hear the overture to William Tell without thinking of the Lone Ranger.
@@antwerpsmerle1404 Good One!

Freaking phenomenal ...did catch an intonation tick here and there, but Holy merde!!
Wow, Cory means business!
Hear the full overture to William Tell. Prelude, Storm, Finale. Fine listening. 🌈
Check out the Grimethorpe Colliery Band version; it's even better.
High, Ho Silver Away!!!!!
as a solo cornet player, after hearing this (and tom's solo) i'm scared
