At 84 years old i have lost track of time, but many years ago I flew from my hometown of Coffs Harbour NSW Australia to Sydney to hear this marvelous band Play in the Sydney Opera House. What a night to remember that was, this brilliant group of performers had me sitting on the edge of my seat for the whole performance. The most memorable performance was by a very young musician who came onto the huge Opera House stage to perform a euphonium solo. WOW, what a brilliant musician he was, and i can still remember him as he walked onto the stage and looked around in what seemed to me amazement at the Opera House full of brass band lovers. I consider myself a very privileged Australia to have been able to see this great band live.
I am a classically trained musician (flute, clarinet, recorder, piccolo and saxophone) and I can tell you the skill of most brass bands is astounding. I love it.
I remember this brilliant piece of music 🎶 from the 50ties always jumped on the arm of settee, hi ho silver away 😀 grimethorpe band fabulous 👌 😀😀🏴
Our Dad Who Passed Away Two Years Ago Aged 94. Had A Vast Collection Of Brass Band Music. Grimethorpe Colliery Were A Favourite Of His. Thank You For This Treasured Memory. I have That Collection Now. God Bless Dad You're Now With Mum.
That was a FANTASTIC performance !!!! Absolutely delightful and total precision and brilliance of sound !!!! Congratulations to every member of this very , very fine group !!!!
I love the sound of all the brass bands . Their instruments create a unique tone that can be resonated to create a unique sound that warms the heart of their fans. There's nothing better than watching them march down the road, or even on the bandstand in the local park. I have spent many a Sunday afternoon listening to them, and it is impossible to tire from hearing these bands. The music is very early material, but will live with us forever.
10 years old outside the city hall in Sheffield, before leaving the bus our teacher warned us not a word or a sound. First piece was the William Tell overture. Listened for a while as the slow move ment progressed and the the clarion call and chase sequence. Barbaroli turned and conducted the school kids as they shouted Hi Ho Silver. Now we all know it was the teachers humour. Have been hooked on classical music since that day.
Played by Brass its just so Majestic. I was born in 1950 and was brought up with the Lone Ranger and Tonto (on an old Black and white TV in the neighbours house). I'm a huge Brass Band (and Grimethorpe) fan - and this music just makes me relive my youth every time I hear it. Awesome !!!!!
The film editor should be strung up by his own drones. Just because he could, he didn’t have to. The playing is just first class. Wonderful, just wonderful.
Roy had one of the best soprano cornet tones he was one of the best and possibly not recognised as some other cornet players but listen to some of his other solo’s and judge for yourself.
In Great Britain you are not squat unless you are a brass band musician. Coal mining is their hobby and music is their occupation. Kudos from a brass band relic from the past here in the USA.
Spine tingling and foot-tapping with emotional roots of that Albert Hall performance in Brassed Off, surely one of England's finest films. Don't ever pay lip service to supporting brass bands...go to their concerts, make a small donation or lobby your council for live performances in our town centres. There can be no other music capable of filling the eyes of the roughest and toughest guys than the wonderful music of brass.
I always heard (jokingly) that the definition of 'culture' was being able to listen to the 'William Tell Overture' and NOT think of the Lone Ranger. :)
A few years before Brassed Off, I had the honour of taking the seat Alan Morrison had just vacated when Grimey finished their set at the 100th Yorkshire Miners Gala in Barnsley. They'd been absolutely spellbinding. Then we kicked off our set with 'Girl from Ipanema' ... sublime to the whatever!
These guys are great, but what you’re about to see and hear is the very, very top of what’s possible in brass choirs today (in my humble opinion). ruclips.net/video/s4l7pW6oOQY/видео.html
This is a fantastic piece of music, whether it's being played by Grimethorpe, or Glen Campbell on a 12 sting guitar, or Buddy Greene on a harmonica, it's just hard to get enough of it. Listening to this fixes almost every problem I ever have, even if only temporarily.
magnifique Brass Band mondialement connu ! nous avons eu le plaisir d'assister à un concert hier lors du " Limoux Brass Festival " un très bon moment !!!
Fantastic can't beat a good Yorkshire brass band 😉 I left Yorkshire when I was 9Years old (63now😋) still got family their and visit. As the saying goes ya can tek the lass outa Yorkshire but ya can't tek the Yorkshire outa the lass
Still unique on brass band area. Beautiful film, well acted, the atmosphere is properly displayed, and the music is beautiful, and .......... a tribute to Pete Postlewait, as conductor. Too bad he's gone. This film is a monument to the brass band music! Martin Hammink, a fan .
John Peddubriwny Brass band do not have strings I also see there are no real horns only alto horns. Then again brass bands don't have real horns either.
great ♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪ ♫♪ ♫♪great sound! ♫♪♫♪ ☺ ♥ ♫♪☺♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪☺ BRAVISSIMO @bisbis 🎶🎵🎼 great music! a well tuned ensemble that sounds like an organ ! Fabulous banding
Took me over a year over 40 years ago. Don't play anymore but can still tikatikatika. What was almost as hard was learning to roll r's. It's still a crappy flutter tongue with an American accent, Guey.
Incredible movie. Balled my eyes out at the end when the band plays "Land of Hope and Glory" on top of the double decker with Danny conducting. Awesome Brass band with awesome talent - what a joy to listen to - gave me the chills🎺🎷📯🎶🎶🎶
I defy anyone to compare these working-class heroes with ANY world class Professional Orchestra or Elite College Marching Band!

Thoroughly enjoyed the all brass band with this high quality performance!!
Brilliant, good ol Yorkshire
Wow! Pure perfection. This is a lesson in musical elocution. So pure and precise. I could listen to it over and over again.
OMG, they are great. Perfect music to show off there versatility. All horn players were excellent. Very impressed! Thank you!
Watch the film!
In Great Britain you are not squat unless you are a brass band musician. Coal mining is their hobby and music is their occupation. Kudos from a brass band relic from the past here in the USA.
Absolutely true extraordinary people living ordinary lives. Remember them well from my youth.

I still see the Lone Ranger and Tonto galloping along. Memories of a family now all but gone.

What about Micky Mouse? ruclips.net/video/7lz9gxsgAJI/видео.html
ben eseguito e Rossini non è facile e poi a memoria bravi
excelente ! magistral apresentação e execução musical . . .
Who couldn't smile listening to this!
Love the band. And the cornet soloist is tremendous.

Great sound.
Great band!!!🎉🎉
Saw these guys live in concert when they came to Christchurch New Zealand - brilliant!!!!!
WOW! I think I'm going to have to make a trip to Jolly on England just to hear these lip buzzers live.
Be wel worth the trip.we are a welcoming bunch in UK. Though at the moment a little too welcoming methinks.
They are playing this without charts!Exceptional band.
DANG! Loved those cornet flautists. That's great brass! Loved it all. Wish you all lived and performed near me somewhere so I could hear more.
A young Richard Marshall now of Black Dyke fame!
The sight of Lesley Garrett and comments about triple tonguing take me down mental paths I really should not go.
This is a fantastic piece of music, whether it's being played by Grimethorpe, or Glen Campbell on a 12 sting guitar, or Buddy Greene on a harmonica, it's just hard to get enough of it. Listening to this fixes almost every problem I ever have, even if only temporarily.
Bravo 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻 com brio; Perfect harmony!

I'm Scottish and these guys are awesome.

Who on earth would give this a thumbs down?! That was brilliant.
Considering that this is played without a string section, it's probably as good as you will ever hear.
John Peddubriwny Brass band do not have strings I also see there are no real horns only alto horns. Then again brass bands don't have real horns either.
@Sylvia: I did know that. My point was that I had never heard this piece before without a string section. But thanks anyway.
I figured that you did know. I play the horn in orchestra and when I see Eb Altos I cringe. To me, THEY are FRENCH Horns!
@Sylvia: Thanks for the reply. Being the Philistine that I am, I had to look up "Eb Altos". Best wishes.
Going to see this band on Sunday. As a brass player myself I am VERY excited
Smilers and whistlers gone wild.
Sharp as!👌🏻
flat caps whippets and brass bands the pride of yorkshire long live us tykes
And green cheeks.!!

Liked over here in Lancashire 👍
Accordian for the willam tell ove
I love brass band music. It’s brilliant. I’m a Southener so no affiliation to either York’s or Lancs.
Don't forget the Scottish pit bands! I was a member of Buckhaven and Methil for a few years. Only 3rd section but a great bunch of people.
Thank you for sharing! 谢谢您的分享!
If most folks knew what difficulty it takes to double and triple tongue a horn. Amazing talent.
Tom Greenough not only that but to be able to do it all in perfect unison.
Took me over a year over 40 years ago. Don't play anymore but can still tikatikatika. What was almost as hard was learning to roll r's. It's still a crappy flutter tongue with an American accent, Guey.

Wow! Very nice. Thank you!
Absolute champion
Brilliant. Simply brilliant!!
Wonderful...thank you....
Being a Barnsley lass I love this band ...
Fantastic Band!! KKB
Wow. What great camera work and editing. Right with the music. Yeah cornets!
Incredible movie. Balled my eyes out at the end when the band plays "Land of Hope and Glory" on top of the double decker with Danny conducting. When they played this at the competition, I jumped to my feet. Couldn't help myself. If you haven't already, see this film ! PS I understand the Grimethorpe Colliery Band is in financial trouble and some of the stars are trying to help.
Fantastic
Great!
Brilliant beyond words! And no music! (The 68 "thumbs down" would have come from very jealous bandsmen!)
I LOVE Brassed Off!!
We might talk a bit queer and we might seem a bit daft but there's not much we can't do up here in Yorkshire and when it comes to brass bands we have the best and second to non so says the Yorkshire lass.
One of my favourite marches, lad, "Yorkshire Lass", ruclips.net/video/IOQSBUDePDQ/видео.html
Are any of them from Yorkshire ?
How wonderful that a group of ordinary working men found the time, talent, and desire to achieve above and beyond anything they probably ever dreamed of! You certainly are a credit to your families that supported MANY HOURS of practice, and work, and how proud ALL of your community must be of you! You are a symbol of what ordinary people are really capable of if they have the desire to rise above their dreams! (and work for them!)
I think Yorkshire people would struggle to be born somewhere different to where they actually where
Never a truer word said! 👏👏👏
Reminds me of the Salvation Army brass bands which I had the honour of playing in as a teen to young adult.
