      @@PBGarage Ahhhh! There’s the difference! Although I haven’t heard much negative about the XSPower KO4s. I know they use a VSR sort rig for balancing and a VSR balancer can easily cost $30-$50K vs say a basic Heins TC3 balancer which you can get for a few thousand. So, there’s that. My understanding is that XS uses genuine BW turbos to start with. I plan on getting the RS6 hybrids myself.

Water injection is definitely the way to go for extra power without octane, I need to complete my build, I installed the injection right under the throttle plate in the manifold, can't wait to hook it up completely ....

      Are those numbers calculated as wheel or crank? Likely crank as they seem representative for a 2.7 stage 1. Before I embarked on the stage 3 build my s4 had a stage 1 tune and it was a ton of fun. My winter / summer beater daily car is a B6 Avant 1.8t but I would love for it to be a 2.7t stage 1 like your allroad. Perfect amount of power (can always use more i suppose haha)

    Funny, I lived down the street from this place from 13-17. Had a red URS4 back then. Stumbled on your channel and the scenery looked familiar. There was a yellow B5 S4 Avant on my neighborhood down the street from our old house. Great project, watching the videos as I get my house keeping on!
    What happened to the 20vt B3?

    • @PBGarage
      @PBGarage 2 года назад

      Thanks for the comment! The B3 ended up being stripped for parts and the shell sent to the scrapper. A main bearing in the engine failed and locked the engine up, and it was at the point where the body was getting pretty rusty / my priorities were changing (I say that after just completely overhauling a B5 haha). But at the time it made sense to move on from the car into something else (~2011). I picked up a E34 BMW, had two kids and got married, then several years went by before I scored on the B5S4. I'd love another B3 or even B4 for nostalgic reasons, but practically it doesn't fit in my line-up right now. Plus the B5 is such a nice chassis compared to the B3.

    Still running my Ming Blue Avant in factory spec (engine & tune) and very happy. Now covered 295k miles with no major issues. I did replace the worn out suspension with an H&R coilover kit which transformed the handling, however, recently replaced all the suspension bushes with Powerflex street bushes and the ride is now a little to firm. Thought the car does handle superbly when pressing on. For me the weakest aspect of the B5 S4 is the gear change (both feel and operation) which doesn't like to be hurried. A JHM short shifter kit did improve it considerably, but for me it is still the one aspect of the car that disappoints. Does anyone have any remedies for this?

    • @PBGarage
      @PBGarage 2 года назад

      Yes suspension upgrades certainly make a huge difference. I kept my suspension bushing stock but made aluminum subframe bushings. The car feels very planted and handles well but does feel a bit stiff on rough roads.
      As far as shifter upgrades, mine is completely stock and sloppy. If I do anything it will to just replace the worn components with stock pieces. I’m not fussed about short throws or anything like that. Aside from JHM there aren’t many aftermarket options.

      Over 450 whp with k04s takes E85. With the 94+boostane we were expecting to be above 400 though. I compared my log vs a WMI log for IAT and there is a 25+ degree C difference, so that will help tremendously. That combined with E40 and I will be guaranteed to get speeding tickets everywhere I go!

    Honestly that's not terrible. I know that thing moves! I have a B5 A4 1.8T with all the "stage 3" stuff plus methanol injection. I'm around 250ish and just need the time to put my gt28 on and shooting for the numbers you just got... 350-375. Definitely set up that methanol! On a 90°F day driving down the highway (75mph) IAT sit about 105° but when I get on it and the meth kicks in they drop to between 60 & 70°! I did all the tuning so I know there is definitely power left in it as I'm by no means a tuner but it really woke up! Pre meth I'd go from 105 to 150 IAT in 3rd gear alone! Now I never get close!

      Sounds fun!! The b5 chassis will make a great race car. Not sure what makes it a stage 4, though?
      For racing, my opinion is to keep it simple and reliable. Tons of power accelerates wear and tear on everything, adds a lot of heat, might make it difficult to drive “right” (follow the correct race line)… it could lead to a lot of headaches. A stock engine with a simple tune might be a better choice for the track, with some heat management added (better intercoolers, brake cooling, oil coolers etc)
      Disclaimer: I’ve never raced an S4 on a track so the above is just my opinion!
