In this home-recorded video, for the sake of contrast, I played the Menuet in-between the Bourrée and Gigue. I can only offer my apologies to those that prefer the Menuet ordered differently.

Una esecuzione di grande pregevolezza sia tecnica che estetica ... sento qua riecheggiare le esecuzioni bachiane al pianoforte di Glenn Gould ... soprattutto il suo tocco sulla tastiera M° Barton, mi ricorda Gould ...un tocco mai pesante, sempre leggerissimo sulla tastiera come se le dita stessero danzando come farfalle leggiadre ... Thank you for at least acknowledging the problem regarding the order of the movements. I prefer it in the order that makes the most musical sense to me, not in the interest of contrast - there are other works in which the performer has taken a personal initiative on altering the movement sequence, and there are works in which this is regularly done - I'm not saying for the better, but that is the situation.
The matter of a "historically informed" rendition doesn't interest me whatever any more than the use of instruments as they existed in the composer's time. Instruments over the years have considerably improved over the years, and if Bach had available the instrumental facilities as they exist today, there is not the slightest question that he would have taken advantage of using them.
What Alicia De La Roccha does is entirely her perogative, but I would not instinctively turn to her anyway if I wanted a definitive performance of this excellent suite, written as I understand it some time later than the other five.
Now that the posting is complete, I will listen to your rendition, but from the separate postings, so that I can partake of it in my preferred order which, as I have stated, makes more musical sense to me.
