- It's about life. It's about love. It's about us.
Academy Award winner Whoopi Goldberg, Danny Glover and Oprah Winfrey star in director Steven Spielberg's adaptation of Alice Walker's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel The Color Purple.
From 1909 to 1949, Celie, a Southern Black woman, gradually gains self-respect as she strives to educate herself and to find love--despite an abusive spouse and a society biased against her race and her sex.

...one of the most beautiful (if not the most beautiful) film I have ever seen in my 60 years on this planet... cried the first time I saw it, and still bawling to this day...
This is my favorite scene!
This scene 😢❤
Maravilhoso filme.
I never watched the movie but fun fact: This was the last movie directed by Steven Spielberg that wasn't composed by John Williams until Bridge of Spies in 2015, 30 years later
It was also the first as well
Quincy Jones
@@Friendomations It was actually the 2nd (after Duel). But yeah. It was the 1st theatrical movie without John Williams
You are missing the greatest movie of all time.
❤
It might just be me, but I feel like the girl they keep focusing on might be Shug's granddaughter or somehow related to her as they ficus on her a lot
why did wbe and wbp switch pfps?

Yes they past some view of the old film 📽but It's not that bad
It is a come down compared to this original majesty of a classic. They keep POSTING clips from this magical film to remind you how SUPERIOR this one is. 100 million overspent on the new one only for it to be a flop. Embarrassing.

I watched both movies, but I still don’t understand why she was crying at the end
Her father was a preacher and she lived a wild life (drank, sang in seedy bars, and slept around). He wasn't pleased with her doing this, which caused him to ignore her or refused to talk to her over time. They reconciled at the end when she came back to his church singing, and then said "See daddy? Even sinners have souls too."

The remake is so bad, they keep showing clips of the old one
That's why remakes of any movie 🎬 is always bad.
It's not a remake?
The movie hasn’t even come out yet so how would u know and every review I’ve seen has been a positive one.
Its a musical
If you didn’t like the new version that’s fine but stop making stuff up. This is basic Hollywood business. anytime a newer version of anything comes out they ALWAYS replay the originals. Especially for people who never saw the original. I saw a special early viewing and this musical is great! The book, movie, broadway & now musical stand as individually amazing.
