@brathaitranslate9888 makes sense as a few of your vids went viral for some reason, despite people apparently not liking it enough to even subscribe... I mean, if any of my vids would have received 78k views I'd probably be looking at at least 2-3k new subs as well from that video. Goes to show how weird the youtube algorithm can be... not saying your videos are bad (I didn't watch them), but the audience retention isn't all that great, so why did the algorithm love them so much?.... So I guess you just got lucky?? A few times? I dunno...
I'm currently at nearly 2.5k subs, but my watch hours has been more or less the same for months at around 1,100-1,200 hours.
Awesome video. I am small RUclipsr, and I think that for small channels the most important thing is to get good presence from the beginning. If you are not popular, people won't care even if you have the best videos and the best content on platform. I am not beginner anymore, but I know how hard it can be (and honestly if I didn't use a lot of Fame- ster, I would have quit a long time ago. It made everything much easier for me, especially getting to 1000 subs and view hours).

Not for every niche... I've made great videos and most of them flopped. I also made a bunch of videos specifically for the algorithm, and they led me to my current 2k subscribers... even though they weren't great videos (and shorts) tbh. Only issue now: watch hours... no clue how to ever get there and honestly done with the constant battle. Now just working on great videos for the fun of it, knowing they won't get a lot of views
Don't lie! We all knew why we watched this video, right? If you're starting a new channel like me, don't give up and just keep grinding. Just remember, "Rome wasn't built in a day".

Literally JUST hit 700 subs. This video is so helpful. Two things I’m incorporating into my next video. 1. Better preview of what you will learn. 2. Goes with one. Use BIG. words in the first 10 seconds to do this. Your editing is so simple yet engaging. I can’t even imagine the planning that is involved.

@@EpicDeathRider I picked a topic and focused down and became so intentional about who I was speaking to and WHY. I got crazy fast growth from an outlier video in March then I really got my head down and focused in. I’m working 7 days a week on my channel right now with the intention of providing the very best content for my audience (not me). I’m planning to hit 100k by November.
My advice is this: Thumbnail and Title FIRST, Get to know your subs, they will be the first to watch, then based on their reaction your video will be pushed out wider, no engagement from subs means no reach to wider audience = no growth. Cut down your intros then cut them again. Make the most entertaining videos you can no matter the content. Finally be 1% better every upload.
Keep focused some days videos tank and you simply can’t understand why. Get good at moving on to the next. Good luck you can do it!!

I uploaded 2 RUclips videos consistently for about a week and still didn't see any massive improvement. But when I started posting shorts it jumpstarted my channel tremendously. For long videos, I post myself and not anyone esle. YT shorts bring in more subs than long form content.
Well, guess I'm gonna give that a try, even if RUclips's probably changing the algorithm before I get anything done.
Whoa. I take back what I said earlier. It actually worked! None of my 2 normal length videos get a mentionable exposure, yet as soon as I make a silly short, BAM! 6 likes for the short and 2 subs for the channel. The shorts seem to work like how the normal videos SHOULD work in my opinion, but hey, if this is how to get seen, then... 🤷♂

But dancing at a very high level (European championship, dance education, theatre performances), but the algorithm just throws it in the same category with the three million girls doing some tiktok choreos ... so we don't get impressions and, therefore, no views.

Retention rate is 2 minutes. I’ve even heard huge channels say this. This means almost everyone reading this comment will watch something in the range of 2 minutes then their patience runs out.
It has to be such a will written and produced for it to keep the viewer till the end.
For example I have a video that struck gold I uploaded it about 8 months ago and 4 months in it started taking off and hasn’t stopped. Just keeps expanding.
It’s a 10 minute video and my average of several months and thousands of videos is 2.5 minutes watched.
Here is the thing the ctr is 6% and it’s the only one with that high of a ctr on my channel and it’s driving engagement and I believe this is what’s helping that video to keep expanding.
It’s the not the watch time because it sucks. But it brings engagement and has brought in a ton of new supporters to my channel.
These year I’m working on trying to through everything at it to try and keep viewers hooked all the way through and committed to the video.
I hope I figure it all out.
Mr. Beastification of RUclips is dying. People are getting tired of it. RUclips is slowly changing. And I'm here for it.

I have a question if you don't mind. I have a gaming channel with 3500 subscribers in MMO niche (related to New World), but I stopped uploading videos 2 years ago. Now I want to start making videos about a different game in the same niche (another MMO game). Should I create a brand new channel or continue on my existing channel? Will a 2 year break affect the discovery of my videos, taking into account that not all previous subscribers may be interested in new game? (However, there may be a certain audience overlap).
