@@MakaylaLysiak I'm going to write my own monologue and send it my question is afterwards can I do another and send it to you for more feedback. P.S Can the emotions and placing yourself into the characters shoes and while reading a script or a book you can see how the writer intended for the character to be played everything about the character the emotions, the expressions etc I'm asking bc all this just comes naturally to me practically instantly I have tons of passion for acting my goals are making a mark for myself and most importantly is bring enjoyment and happiness to people that are fans of the characters that I've done and to prove to myself and others that I have what it takes to become a actor. This is my saying Every rejection is another opportunity to excel so for me once I start auditioning and I get rejected it won't set me back it will drive me forward. Sorry it's so long I've never been given advice from an actual actor and it would mean the world to me to hear your thoughts.

Keira: Good facial expressions and emotion. Very confident and engaging. Talked too fast through it, maybe because of nerves. There was no time to breathe or to make words stand out.
Aubrey: Amazing that she could cry and add that to her monologue. Her voice could have been more precise, and there wasn't a lot of visual emotion shown through her facial muscles. Also her tone never changed, so it felt like there was no emotional progression, and therefore no story progression.
Jack: Good performance and facial expressions. It's great that he's not afraid to show his emotion through different volume levels, made it really engaging. Although he relied on his hand gestures too much, and that really distracted me from what he was saying. Maybe out of nerves, he feels he needs to move around to keep us engaged, but I find there's more power in the stillness to show how serious a scene is. With one or two key moves to really emphasis the words.

here are my thoughts on each of the performers :)
    1. (keira) - they have SO much potential. even just based off of that, i can tell that that monologue is a really great fit for them. i think they just need to focus on not only slowing down, but using their diction. and since it was so fast, it very felt memorized. which of course it is, but in real life, this student wouldn’t have exactly what they’re going to say to the teacher 100% planned out. so taking the time to think about what they’re going to say next makes the whole thing just feel more natural. even if it’s just a pause to catch your breath. but overall, the acting was not bad at all and will definitely feel more natural with practice, time, and playing around with different choices. great job keira!
    2. (aubrey) - loveeee this monologue. even though it’s generally a sad story, it can show off a wide range of emotions. i think my critique for this one is almost the opposite of the above. when someone’s sad, (close to tears in this case) their voice changes a lot. it speeds up, slows down, gets louder and softer, cracks, etc. aubrey stayed at the same pace and volume the whole time. they definitely gave a convincing performance, and i could almost believe they were on the brink of tears. i love love loved how they did a little smile when talking about rue, it was like they were remebering a memory with her. play that up a bit more. the highs, the lows, and everything in between, especially in such an emotion-driven piece like this. overall, wonderful job aubrey!
    3. (jack) - this was such a powerful monologue. when someone is fighting with someone, especially a parent or someone who means a lot to them, they usually don’t yell at them the whole time. it’s usually quiet, then talking level, then the very climax is yelling. so pick one, maybe two lines that you think are the very most important, and are the emotional climax of the fight. also, in any sort of conversation, but especially an argument, you don’t make eye contact with your counterpart the whole time. there’s a lot of looking away, looking down. etc. but overall, dang, great job
ending thoughts and comments: amazing job to everyone who submitted. a general note for everyone is to take the time to think about what your character is saying. like, in the moment. 90% of the time, words don’t just come spilling out all smooth and neat. humans are awkward and messy, especially in our most emotional moments. watch lots of videos and performances of other people performing similar pieces to take note of their movements and mannerisms. amazing job to everyone!! also last thing, like mikayla said, acting and art is subjective, so these are just my opinions, and stuff i’ve picked up over time.
    - a fellow aspiring actor :)

For the 1st one: amazing performance! Like Makayla said, the lighting needs some help-I think that she was very fast when she was saying her lines, and that she should slow them down and really give time to make facial expressions
2nd. I loved it! The tears were everything-I think she should have had more facial expressions and turning into the camera but looking to the side (What Makayla said) And more volume and tone and flavor to the voice
3rd. Omggg I loved it! I think the hand movements were a little much with the chopping, maybe pauses in between lines but not too big to create emotion and make facial expressions
    Overall, everybody did amazing!

My THOUGHTS (As an actor is musicals)
#1: I thought she had good expressions but at some points I could only understand every other word.
#2: I think she did good but I think her fake cry could use some improvement? She did a nice job making her voice sounding like she was crying, it really did make me believe she was heartbroken.
#3: I think he did a good job of showing how angry he was and it really made me think he's been doing this for a while, however I think it would be better if he used less hand movements. It really distracted me from what he was saying.
Anyways those were my thoughts! They all did really good, this is just my opinion.

I've taken some acting classes, and based off of my very un-professional training, here are the only things I found that needed help. (I wrote these without hearing Makayla's comments, then I went back to listen to her. That way, I was trying not to copy lol, but then I basically ended up. Acting's the same ig)
Kiera: Talk slower. That was the only problem I found really.
Aubrey: A bit more facial/head movement. I got the holding-back-tears stare, which was spot on, but I would have loved to see a little more movement. Even just looking down once.
Jack: Less hand movement. Use it when needed, not for every sentence.
They all did an amazing job! Really impressive, especially being so young.

The FIRST monologue I felt as if she needed to take her time to get into character before doing the scene. See her surroundings and see the person she was talking too. A lot of people do that, even the people who have trained at Drama school for years. But doing so just makes the character come to life and allows you to show difference between your actual self and character.😀

The first thing I would say for the first monologue submission would be to slow down. There were definitely some great moments in the monologue such as the expression but just slowing down could have a huge impact on the performance. There were points where I thought the pace worked well with the dialogue but slowing down would help to make those moments stand out more.

I feel like for monologue #2, it would be more realistic and touch the audience more if throughout the monologue we see her slowly get more and more sad and THEN the tears come down (though i'd only do this if I genuinely feel it, we can tell when it's forced). I often hear from acting workshops that starting with a lot of emotion right off the bat isn't always the best choice (though ofc there are exceptions)

Oh wow, I didn’t even realize this was a new video until I started reading the comments. I got really confused at the 99 views 😂
Anyways, The first monologue was good, but I feel like she should’ve slowed down the words a bit so the audience could hear better. I liked her facial expressions though, she did a good job at acting out the comedy, just needs to work on her speech.
I really liked the second one, but I agree that the eye line should’ve been higher and closer to the camera. Her voice was around the same tone most of the time, and I would’ve liked if she had more emphasis on certain parts. I liked the fake crying, too; She did a great job on that.
I feel like in the third monologue he could’ve used more pauses, and maybe sprinkled in some quivering in his voice. I also feel like he should’ve looked around more, because just looking in the same spot made it look a bit stiff. Other than that, the facial expressions were on point.
Anyways, I love your videos and they’ve given me some great advice on how to further my acting skills. I will continue to watch your videos for more and I hope to see a part 2 of this!

I think that Keira's monologue would be really great if she slowed down not only to make the words clear, but also to take time to emphasize for comedic value and do little pauses. I know her character is giving a long rant, so it's her choice how to portray the character. Her face/eyebrows/eyes is very expressive, but I wish there was a little more expression in her intonation so there was more variety, beats, changes, etc. Overall I really liked hers, she'll grow to be a great actor!
I think Aubrey's was very emotional, well done, but she could've used her face more, particularly her eyes and eyebrows. I know she might be looking down because her character is talking about something very hard, but I think looking up and having intense eye contact with the imaginary person would be a really great choice. I did hear some tone changes in voice, just wish it varied more. But she was tearing up, it was intense!!
Again, both of them did such a great job, they're both young and talented, it took a lot of courage and nerves to submit their acting to be out in the public, i hope they never give up :))

I think Kierra did a good job! The only thing I would say is slowing down. This is something I really had to work on as an actor. It’s hard but you have to really take time to live in the moment and let the audience live in the comedy or the drama with you. But I think everyone did an amazing job!

Without a doubt the best performance was Keira's! I am a voice actor & Audiobook Narrator- I grew up with a stutter (a different kind) I highly suggest Keira slow down when she speaks because her articulation isn't clear enough & it helps with the type of stutter she has. Also there is a phenomenal youtube channel called IMPROVE YOUR VOICE (bald guy with glasses, he's AMAZING) & his last video is actually for actors. I recommend his channel to any & everyone, his exercises are top notch & you'd normally pay hundreds of dollars for the warm ups & techniques he teaches for free on here. Doing vocal warm ups before acting will make ALL the difference for any one, but especially those who rush their lines or stutter ♡

I just have to say that although I’ve considered what it would be like to be an actor - who hasn’t? - you really convinced me to give it a try. You and Henry Cavill, that is.
I’m in a (5 week?) acting class where there will be an agent showcase at the end. I’m by no means perfect of course, but I’ve gotten a lot of positive feedback from the teachers. (It’s mostly the little things I have to work on.) And now I’m certain it’s possible.

@@in3pired9 I think the biggest difference between online and real life classes is you don’t really get (training?) for your entire body. The only thing that’s important is what’s in camera view, which is something you’ll have to be especially conscious of - and perhaps on conscious - if you intend to do movies. It helps you focus a lot on the camera work itself - and remembering not to look directly into the camera 😹.

I hope one day I can become just like that guy and you Makayla, when I started my first acting last year in 2023 or 2022 I did such an amazing job with my singing for all the musical theater that I've done in my old school. Great job too both of the monologues that had a lot of timing in their work to bring out the sadness and anger

Oh my gosh, I LOVE acting and as I watched your video I was kinda thinking up this scene in my head that I would write for a monologue... It made me really excited to like try acting out that scene I made up in front of a mirror and or whatever, but I have three older brothers who don't appreciate my skillz so if they heard me I'd never hear the end of it. And besides that, I'm only 13, it's Summer, and I'm homeschooled so I NEVER get a chance to act unless I'm upset in front of people lol. But if I catch a time I'm home alone, I'll definitely try it. How did these people get these videos to you?

    Thoughts on the submissions 😊:
#1. Love the scene, really getting the sass and irritation from you and your in the perfect position. Advice is to work on your diction and pronounce the words clearly. Take your time with the scene and for those fast time twisters, practice them over and over until they're super clear. I love the huff and walk off at the end.
#2. Love that scene and Jlaw is a hard act to follow! You are definitely displaying a LOT of emotion and in the verge of tears which is great. That lip wobble was great and you were really feeling it. Advice is to vary the tone. The whole thing was the same flavour and you don't want it all too be one note. Try and vary up sections and isolate lines you think are most important. Change the tone up and that verge of tears shift voice will be even more impactful.
#3. Absolutely love your expressions and hand movements you were doing. The tearing up at the end was really great and I could feel the anger. You took your time with the lines and had pauses which was great. Advice would be to take it a step further. Really shout some lines so when you go quiet we can still hear those. The only thing about your performance that was distracting was when you weren't doing the hand movements it was like you were holing your hands under the camera view. Like your torso was kinda stiff and didn't give off what your voice and face were. When you moved the hands it was better, so you need to work on a more natural neutral position. Use your whole body to perform even if we can't see waist down.
It's takes guts to put your work out there on an actors RUclips channel to be critiqued by the public, so you guys are dedicated and should have good careers. Good luck! Xx

I think the first girl definitely needs to work more on enunciation and in general just pacing. I understand that in the scene her character is kinda supposed to be blabbing and ranting but pacing is still important as the viewers need to understand what you’re saying.

Ok for Kira, I think she should've slowed down a little bit, because she was talking so fast it could be why her words were all jumbled. For Aubrey (sorry if I spelt that wrong), I think she did a very good job, she just needed to use a little bit more facial expression, her btw that scene in the movie is one of my favorite scenes and she preformed that so well! For Jack, I think he did a good job overall and I can't find any critisism for me to say. Luv U Makayla!

I'm curious- and I'm a new viewer, so it's possible you already did a video on this- but what do you audition through (like, is there a site you use, or an acting opportunities website, etc), and/or stay in the know for things you possibly COULD audition for? I feel like this is a crucial part of being an actor, but I really can't find info on this anywhere else.
