  • Join this wide ranging discussion with acclaimed authors Terryl and Fiona Givens as they chat with Ganel-Lyn & John about the following topics:
    - Reframing how we view the Restoration and Christ’s true gospel, the loss of the plain and precious things in Christianity
    - Disciples of the “Second Sort”: Joseph Smith laid the seeds of the Restoration, but we are responsible for expanding, developing, enriching, and reframing Christianity
    - The various versions of the First Vision and the invitation for our own Sacred Grove experiences for revelation (individual faith journeys)
    - Understanding who God is and the common misconceptions about Him, and our relationship with Him
    - How the Atonement is more about HEALING us from our mortal woundedness rather than saving us from our wickedness
    - How theology impacts mental, emotional, and spiritual health
    - Healing from mental illnesses like depression, anxiety, and scrupulosity
    - Viewing this mortal life as a test (pass/fail) vs. a classroom/educative process with God as a mentor with whom love NEVER ceases
    - How to respond when loved ones (or ourselves) wrestle with organized religion and/or when faith feels ambiguous, when it’s not based in love
    - Ideas for continuing the conversion process on a daily basis

Thank you So Much for this podcast!!! I am a convert of the church not privileged with living in the cocoon of the Utah corridor.
Life circumstance has crushed me. I sorely needed to hear these truths on this early morning dawn of 2023.
Many, many, many thanks for resetting my focus on God’s love and the purpose of being wounded.
I can go on. I will go on. I have taken my first tremulous steps into the New Year.
Thank you, from the depths of my soul.

I almost didn’t listen to this but I’m so glad I did. So many of these types of guest speakers make me feel so guilty that my testimony isn’t quite worth going to church but I grew up in the 80’s church where guilt was woven into my Utah upbringing. I am so grateful this conversation with the Givens! Thank you so very much!

I have not doubt that your comment warms the hearts of Fiona and Terryl. The last thing they would ever want is for someone to feel "less than" or ashamed of where they are in their life journey. Hang in there, Travis, and know that you're probably doing much better than you think!!

Terryl and Fiona thank you for helping us heal from our traumas. In Jesus though my great grandmother was abused I can be whole again and not pass on the self defeating behaviors to them. I am enough. All are worthy of all in Christ. We just get to choose to receive Him.

Thank you so much. As I listened to your lessen the 1st time and I do intend to listen to this again, I was impressed with many thoughts. Sin as a trauma, as a wound - Injury, causing illness, infrematry, etc. Gaining healing through forgiveness and repentance. Trauma being passed down through generations and so on.
The fact that it has been said that death is the wages of sin. And we hear about healing the inner vessel, being clean through repentance and forgiveing. The refiners fire and fullers soap.
Learning and living The Gospel is a cleaning experience. Thank you for this conversation.

"If love ceases to be love, it wasn't love" Is that the quote? I loved my ex-husband, but I don't think I love him anymore. I did, I wanted to be with him forever. He chose to leave and move in with a family wrecker.
