20 years and that whole scene with uncle rico on the porch talking about throwing the ball clear over the mountains and then hitting napoleon with the steak still kills me.

I've always liked that Napoleon Dynamite somehow felt relatable to me, even though at the time is saw the movie I was in high school in the north of England. There is a real connection to this slice of life and the genuine characters I enjoyed. I guess that really speaks volumes for the movie's quality :)

8:23 I disagree. People are watching it again for the plot, and the iconic quotes. It's not just to see Napoleon, Pedro, and the gang. If that was the case, the Napoleon Dynamite animated sitcom they made for Fox, would've been a smash hit. I think people watch The Simpsons, just for the characters. But the Napoleon Dynamite sitcom aired alongside the Simpsons and Family Guy, and it failed to bring in the huge Napoleon Dynamite fanbase the movie has.
Also, the sitcom wasn't that good. But I feel if it had time to grow, it would bring back the charm of the movie. Which is such a shame, because it was very first movie-turned-tv show in the history of television to have the _entire_ original movie cast return to reprise their roles. That has never happened before, or since. And may never happen again.

Probably not because nobody was a big star in the cast… Heder got a boost of fame, and Haylie Duff was known but aside from that….

The down side of being a fan of this movie that lives in Asia is I can't find Rex-kwan-do pants anywhere.

Love this movie! I made my grandparents watch it one time and they didn't get it.. 😭 it was probably 2004 - 2005.
Actually I made my great aunt and great-uncle watch the first episode of spongebob the bubble stand.
They had never had cable so this was the first time we ever watched cartoons at their house out in the middle of nowhere Missouri.
I think the problem was they did understand what the jokes were and I didn't. 😂😂
Turn it off turn it off turn it off!!! I definitely remember my dad or uncle saying.
Boy howdy that was the best revenge of the boring can't bother with the kid karma I ever had
