@@henrykim4230 I know 🙂 As for this Cube, do the inside lock controls also depend on electric power? Worse than not being able to get in your car, is being trapped inside it without electric power - especially after an accident! On my friend's '05 Audi, the key only unlocks the driver's door. The problem with CVT flushes is that no dealer wants to perform that service! They don’t wanna be responsible for even touching the transmission because there’s so many failures. Our rogue is due for a CVT service.
My 120k Cube was given back to the dealer for 1k. CVT is dying. I got whatever I could for it. I did CVT fluid changes every 30 to 40k. Too bad, it was the most practical car I have ever owned.
Off topic but I think Nissan should revive the Datsun brand. A very simple, reliable, durable brand. No direct Injection, variable valve timing and in my mind, no overhead cams. No infotainment system. You should be driving, not playing with a computer!
I really hate it when they don't put a key lock on the passenger door. I slid off the road in my Pontiac G6 and smashed the driver's door and damaged the wiring harness inside the door, which meant the key no longer worked. So I had to leave the car unlocked until I could find a replacement door at a salvage yard.
Am I the only person who thinks those things are ugly as home made sin? Nissan must have cornered the market on ugly because they were building the Juke at that time too. The Scion xB, which was the Cube's competitor, was very nice looking.
On nissans when you do a cvt flush as a certified nissan tech you go into consoult>tcm>work support tools>cvt deterion reset. If you forget this step the cvt will function thinking that the new fluid is as worn out as the last reset. You are welcome for the free nissan info screw them for paying 17 a hour for being a tech. Mcdonalds hires for that around here.
In the US there are places that do not require emissions inspections. Kansas is one of them. There isn't a single county or municipality in Kansas that requires emissions testing. So you can get away with a check engine light for quite some time, especially if it doesn't affect driving quality. In my home state of Georgia, there are only 13 out of 159 counties that require emissions testing. Of course, those 13 counties are where the vast majority of the population live, but still... I live in a rural county that doesn't require emissions testing, so I could legally register and drive an emissions-failing vehicle, no problem. *Technically,* it's a violation of Federal law not to have a functioning emissions system on a vehicle that was equipped with emissions controls from the factory. But the Feds simply don't enforce that. They leave it up to the states, and as you can see, many states just don't bother.
Wizard I disagree with the service interval in a guess a good way because I think it should be done every 12k miles not the 30k miles, but that is how I think it should be done on any automatic transmission.
We bought a CUBE new and loved it. It was the easiest car for my 6'1' frame to get in and out of.....lots of head room too!!! We gave it to our daughter when she needed a car. Don't some Honda Civic have a Nissan CVT trans??? 2014 Civic
Dang I bet the Car Wizzard got at least $5000 if not more when he sold "cubie" less than a year ago. Now he's going to take in another $1500 or so. If the customer would of been listening to the Car Wizzard he never would of bought a Nissan in the first place. How ironic. Amazing David can keep a straight face thru out the video
I would have gladly paid a few dollars more to get a key cylinder on the passenger side of my Nissan Titan but in guess the bean counters thought it wasn't that big of a deal ; )
Nearly *ALL* automatic transmissions these days, not just Nissan CVTs, are sold with "lifetime" fluid in them. Of course, the manufacturer's definition of "lifetime" might not match yours. Their definition is "until the warranty period ends." If you want to have *any* transmission last 200K miles or more, at the very least drain-and-fill the fluid every 30K to 50K miles like the Wizard said. If you *can,* you should also replace the filter in there -- of course that depends on how accessible the filter is. The owner's manual might tell you that you don't need to service the transmission. That's ridiculous. Anything with moving parts and lubrication needs that lubrication refreshed periodically. It's well worth it to extend the life of your vehicle.
I service the CVT in my 12' Altima every 2 years or 25,000 miles whichever occurs first. I just do a drain and fill. Bought it brand new and still has the original CVT transmission.
Push button or keyless ignition is one thing ,but why do companies have o take it a step further? At least my Toyota has a mechanical door lock. Works with or without the battery (in the car or the key FOB). now starting the car may be a different story but at least I wouldn't get locked out of the car (I know it works because I removed the battery from my fob since I have push button start -- prevents the key from transmitting the signal). Aside from flushes you need to not whale on the CVTs either . I see people dong this, and while the flushes help, eventually beating on a CVT will also catch up to you. They basically have rubber bands in them that can stretch and that's one downside to the CVT design is the belt can be stretched to a point where it can slip (sometimes in earlier Nissans this would just happen over time, with say the 2010-2016 Nissan Versas it was pretty common for those transmission to fail before 100k, but just outside of warranty so between 60-100k, even if you did the services as you were supposed to - fluid changes every 30-50k).
Did you see the clip on the fords, you pull the driver handle twice, than the resr door hande 3 times, than the right rear twice, than wate 30 seconds, then pull right front handle 3 times, then it unlocks. It a borg, as one? Unknown.
I would try that cat cleaner they have at AutoZone and drive it around for a while see if that does anything. If not if you don't have emissions testing in your state I wouldn't fix it
From what i can see, there has never been an episode of Buy this, not that for MINIVANS. My mom is in the market for a used Honda odessey or Toyota Sienna, a video looking at the minivan segment as a whole would be awesome!
I'd add a hidden hood latch cable under the bumper, or at least a battery charging port.

What type of engineer misses the practical use of a mechanical operated door lock
One who has no common sense.
Probably an echo chamber thinking it was a smart decision
A Renault inspired one
Likely it was thought of but was dismissed for whatever reason
those senseless decisions are often driven by budget. the engineers' ideas are filtered by program management.

I have a 2017 maxima has cvt i service cvt every 30k mile currently have 112k miles have no issue been good car just gotta maintain it it will last.
I have a 99 Jeep Grand Cherokee, have been told many times that the transmission will never last. I change the fluid every 30k and now have over 200k on the SUV. I guess there are maintenance heavy in that regard but some vehicles are and some people aren't maintenance people.
Mindis car is around 116k miles now. Sure am glad you had me do that flush! 😊
I'm amazed that they made it in left-hand drive for I thought that it was a right-hand drive only car
i bet theres a secret key hole behind passenger door cap, seen it in another video on another car somewhere, where the car only had drivers door key hole. think it may have been a mini, not sure. anyway they popped the cap off where the lock should be and hey presto a key hole for emergencys
My '20 Blazer has it in the drivers' door end cap, you pull out the key from the "fob"....
@@TheOzthewiz yeah minis are the same, key is retractable, wizards point is the drivers door is the only door that has a key hole for the key, im saying if you take the blank cap of the passenger door there may just be an emergency access keyhole
The problem with CVT flushes is that no dealer wants to perform that service! They don’t wanna be responsible for even touching the transmission because there’s so many failures. Our rogue is due for a CVT service.
Anyone who doesn't put the aftermarket Renault 4L grill on their Cube, doesn't deserve it.🧐
when the QUBE went up on the lift i smiled
My 120k Cube was given back to the dealer for 1k. CVT is dying. I got whatever I could for it. I did CVT fluid changes every 30 to 40k. Too bad, it was the most practical car I have ever owned.
Don't know why, but i love the look of this car. Been seaching for a manual but never could find one neaby. Settled for a Versa hatchback with a 6spd.
That Foxbody in the background is looking real nice!
I wanna make an aquarium out of one of these
Off topic but I think Nissan should revive the Datsun brand. A very simple, reliable, durable brand. No direct Injection, variable valve timing and in my mind, no overhead cams. No infotainment system. You should be driving, not playing with a computer!
My work van, a Chevrolet City Express, same as Nissan NV200 clone, has a Jatco with 203000. No issues.....serious anomaly.
I want a Nissan Cube so bad, but with the 6 speed manual transmission. They look so goofy driving around and i am very goofy so.
I just bought a 6 speed, it's awesome!!!
I loved both my Cubes! Called the carpet Cubic Hair.
"I loved it, so I sold it". 🤔
Dime that recently with a hj60 i loved but couldn’t afford to fix…
I could install a mechanical door lock for that car, so I'm sure the Wizard could, too.
Wizardd i can see the front bumper on Mrs. Wizard’s Ferrari is missing 🎉 cant wait for an update
Got tired of telling my friends. That nissan cvt's need maintenance. I always hear it, lifetime fluid.
I have a nissan also with only a drivers side keyhole. Thankfully it is a physical lock not a micro switch.
Same here. 2018 Versa note. Had a dead battery one morning, and I was still able to manually unlock my drivers door.
In Australia not only is the driver on the right side of the vehicle but for this car the rear door design is reversed also.
This carpet on the dash is Cube-OE accessory for this car.
Love the Alfa 75 in the background.
Borg insignia in Nissan Cube, i actually like this one! Yep I'm a ½ Trekkie !
The window frames , combined with the asymmetrical windows, destroy any dignity/class.
If Gumby owned a car….it would be this one
In the UK a cat warning in the annual MOT (legal examination) test would be a fail and would make driving on the road illegal.
I wanted this as my first car so bad lol. So unique compared to anything else
We bought a CUBE new and loved it. It was the easiest car for my 6'1' frame to get in and out of.....lots of head room too!!! We gave it to our daughter when she needed a car. Don't some Honda Civic have a Nissan CVT trans??? 2014 Civic
No Honda makes their own CVTS. Chrysler and I believe ford uses Jatco CVTS that's owned by Nissan.

That guys should get bumper stickers for his corvette and lotus: "My other car is a Nissan Cube ... really"
I just got it. The Borg, the Cube... Took me a while.
I would have gladly paid a few dollars more to get a key cylinder on the passenger side of my Nissan Titan but in guess the bean counters thought it wasn't that big of a deal ; )
my 02 Sentra had no door handles
y’all ever replaced door handles on a sentra? it sucks.
I have a P1778 error for the stepper motor have you ever had to replace it? Should I replace more than the stepper motor?
Nearly *ALL* automatic transmissions these days, not just Nissan CVTs, are sold with "lifetime" fluid in them. Of course, the manufacturer's definition of "lifetime" might not match yours. Their definition is "until the warranty period ends."
If you want to have *any* transmission last 200K miles or more, at the very least drain-and-fill the fluid every 30K to 50K miles like the Wizard said.
The battery charging point can charge the battery from the outside so you can get it ..
The key function is crazy. Do owners know that it is electrical and not mechanical?
Nice new intro music 👍
11:11 "lets forget about the catalytic converter for now"
California be all:
"Like hell you will"
Love my Nissan cube it is older w every option
Probably one of the few cars where there is a massive body difference between right hand drive and wrong have drive.😅
🤔my 2 cents, Honda and Toyota would be the A list, maybe Chrysler and Kia Sedona are B-C list
certain years those honda vans had very bad transmissions
I know I have shared the 1st video with a lot of folks buying Nissans so they can learn early to service them.
A broken Borg Cube? Sounds like another season of Picard is on the way....
