      @@NewYorkActingCoach Growing up on the other side of the canal (Nederland) I was used to the British accent (that's what we learned in school) but the films on the "telly" were mostly American with Dutch subtitles. Still, I automatically fall back to the British accent. It seems to come more naturally to me and I've always liked the way it sounded. Thank you sir. Stay safe and sound.

It's strange that we should 'like' feeling part of a country, and enjoy certain British phrases and sounds, - it's something to do with wanting to be part of a community, I suppose, and of course no accent matters nowadays, - even with American actors trying to do usually not-very-good British accents - what matters is that we speak clearly and with some kindness n our voice sometimes. I still think that - nowadays - an accent doesn't need to be perfect, that all accents are a mixture, and that audiences and friends DON'T REALLY CARE what accent we have: and that what matters is that we speak clearly, with some touch of kindness in our voice, and - if we are actors - with the real meaning BEHIND any lines. That is what makes a star. J.

      @@nadiaramirez9293 You may be able to enjoy it as a hobby, while doing another job, and not have the worries of a thousand auditions, and expensive classes, OR you may be serious for a while but that means working every day for hours on acting BECAUSE you will be competing with others for jobs who HAVE decided to spend every day they can manage working on scripts and getting 'ready'. It is incredibly hard, but if you try seriously then you will find that you can't stand it or that you don't mind the hardship . . you will "know" if you want to continue. But you have to start working hard now probably. Find classes online. Not with me, I'm not pushing myself AT ALL - you need to work with others of your own age, not with one coach. And yes, being able to 'enjoy' an accent can make a part more fun to play, and to remember, of course, that nobody nowadays cares about listening to an accent for long, what they want - and you're probably already doing this as well - is to know what their lines really means, that "Good Morning everyone" - for example - may really mean "Don't I look wonderful" ( ! ) John

    It was fun not being able to pronounce my r’s right as a kid so I’d end up getting asked if I was British whenever I met someone new.

      Going along with this the r section of this video goes against everything I was taught on how to speak right, so it was quite a mental struggle to attempt.

      my dads a Brit but I’m raised in the us so I have a bit of an accent but I also just couldn’t pronounce my r’s right so it’s like yeah I’m British but I also just can’t talk right

      @alphadawn2015 lennon You are right of course, - there are dozens more British accents, but this video is for American actors, and is the UK accent which casting directors in the USA most want for the hundreds of productions of Shakespeare, Stoppard, Shaw and Wilde (yes I know he was Irish) in the USA each year. If people want the wonderful Northern, Welsh - or other accents - they can come for coaching, but this one is what they most ask for. Sorry if it caused any offense. John Windsor-Cunningham

    I’m German and learned to speak in an American accent but ever since consuming a lot of British media it has become very mixed. This helps so much to go for a full British accent

      I have a North-Eastern American accent and the R thing is what we do here, too. It really depends on where in the US you are from.
