@@peperino25 I got to meet G W Bailey twice. My friend attended the same church and was good friends with his son Martin. The first time I met him we had stopped by his to pick up Martin, on our way to see Iron Maiden. When we walked into the house GW was sitting on a Lazy-Boy Recliner and before Martin could introduce us he turned to us and said, (LOUDLY in his gravelly voice) " NO!!!!! My head did NOT go up the horse's ass!'. The second time we stopped by to pick up Martin, We were in his living room and GW walked out of the kitchen and handed us sodas. When I said thank you. He said, "I'm not being generous! I'm trying to fill you little bastards up, so you have less room for beer!".

there's an airplane 2 that's pretty good, and then the naked gun series would be good, it stars the guy who played the doctor in this movie 🙂

I think more one-line quotes came out of this movie than any other movie. Classic.

It was a different era. Movies could push the envelope then. Today, a lot of the stuff would never get past a censor.

The Mayo clinic is a well known medical medical center in Minnesota, in the US
During the 70s and 80s, it was common to see members of religious groups such as the Moonies or Hare Krishnas soliciting donations at US airports.
The joke about the coffee was a reference to an old tv ad campaign, where a man at a restaurant or party would accept a second cup of coffee, and his wife would think "That's strange, Ed never drinks a second cup at home."

"Can you fly this plane, and land it?"
    "Surely you can't be serious."
"I am serious... and don't call me Shirley."
Classic comedy. Laugh a minute and very quotable.
Fun Fact: Theatrical movie debut of Julie Hagerty.
Celebrity Pilot Fact: In a 2008 interview, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar told the story of being on a European flight and asked to sit in an empty seat in the cockpit during takeoff so the crew could say they flew with Roger Murdoch.
Better Living Through Chemistry Fact: At one point, a woman (Nora Meerbaum) refuses alcohol in favor of sniffing cocaine. Although seemingly righteous and indigent at being offered alcohol, she is correct in refusing a depressant (whiskey) if she was going to take a stimulant (cocaine).
White-Red Zone Fact: Regarding the argument between announcers concerning the white and red zones at the airport, the producers hired the same voice artists who had made the real-world announcements at Los Angeles International Airport. At the real airport, the white zone is for loading and unloading of passengers only, and there's no stopping in the red zone (except for transit buses). They were also married to each other in real life.
Casting Notes Fact: Jim Abrahams, David Zucker, and Jerry Zucker chose actors such as Robert Stack, Lloyd Bridges, Peter Graves, and Leslie Nielsen because of their reputation for playing no-nonsense characters. Until this film, these actors had not done comedy, so their "straight-arrow" personas and line delivery made the satire in the movie all the more poignant and funny. Bridges was initially reluctant to take his role in the movie, but his sons persuaded him to do it.

This has to be Seth MacFarlene’s favorite movie because I’ve seen countless references to it on Family Guy.

The only thing with spoof movies and comedy in general is you need to let go of logic. These movies are meant to be outrageous and nothing in them is meant to be logical and that's the fun. You get to let go of your preconceived ideas or beliefs for an hour and a half and just go with the flow, which is how we used to live back in the day. We never took anything too seriously unless it was genuinely something serious. We respected each other for the most part and the only thing working against any of us was our governments who succeeded in turning us against each other. Even our news back then was just the facts with documented support for those claims. We never just gave opinion and said it was a fact. That just started happening in the 90s and nothing has been done to stop it.

    1. I guess I picked the wrong week to stop watching "first time reaction" Airplane clips.
    2. This movie requires more than one watch in order to catch as much as possible. Little things to look for:
Ted was in the Army Air corps but at the bar he's wearing a Navy Lt. uniform.
Elaine's trombone at the bar sounds like a trumpet.
One of the fish was a freshwater catfish in the "From here to eternity" scene.
A woman throws a baby into the air when the plane crashes through the window.
Two Hari Krishnas actually fly out of the airport.
There are raindrops gathered on a high speed airplane.
Captain Kramer steps out of a mirror before leaving for the airport.
The woman with the horse in bed is the creepy Captain Oveur's wife. She is also hitting on to Captain Kramer.
It's a jet but the background noise is of a prop plane.
The ambulance crashes after the plane lands.
    3. Otto/Auto pilot has his own webpage on IMDB
    4. Elaine has permission to sit on MY face.😍😜😈
    5. IMVHO Airplane II is good too, destination moon.
