My first husband worked the soundboard for Willie on tour down south for a bit in the mid-eighties, filling in for the regular guy on paternity leave. People ask him for his reminises, and he says, "I....really don't remember too much. There was a lot of smoke in that bus...."
It's why we love Willie he don't lie about himself. It's why government was happy to put him in jail. But our dedication put him on top again. Look what he did for farm aid cut his hair for charity so government needs to pick the right battle
Why, for all that's Holy.., can't I give this video more than ONE like!! I loved the look on Willie's face when he heard this song for the 1st time, and was even trying to play along, while listening to the words! He LOVED it!!
He passed away in 2008. Though he helped the local doctor to get several teenagers treatment for theirs. For a test that my dad had the doctor knew that they should see an oncologist. They were able to find the source for their cancer sooner.
I was lucky enough to do just that when he played at Pine Knob up here in Michigan back in July 1999. My cousin from Texas flew up for that show. He was good friends with Willie's late stage manager. Not only did we get to hang out with the band before the show, but we were the last people on his bus that night after he dealt with all of the VIP guests. He and I talked about golf and his buddy, PGA Tour Pro, J L Lewis. I inhaled frequently. What a night with a living legend! Love ya' Willie
This live version seriously kicks some ass. Shoulda sang this one on Colbert. Love that guitar riff during the little solo! Long live Toby Keith, you're the shit!
We went to Willie's picnic every 4th of July in Texas,it was always different, his old ranch, the cotton bowl outside Dallas, all throughout the 70s,a fine time,a rite fine time!
What a fantastic occasion, what a great celebration of a great human being (with all his many faults and weaknesses) and what a fine, humorous song. Nothing less for Willie Nelson.
Gotta gotta gotta got'to love this tune, especially these two with Willie there make'n three, caused me to sit down, and fire-up my own round...looking forward as always to smoke'n weed with Willie again.
They play it like this because Willie likes and allows it. You know it by the bungee line...Willie knows he is loved here. He has been Grandfathered in. God Bless that Man. Legalize Smoke today for the the afflicted,
*giggle* I don't listen to country often but i adore this song. When i pass on, i plan on having Willies best in my system...heck prolly won't even notice :D Namiste to a great artist. He is and ever will be awesome. I light one in your honor Willie.
I absolutely love this song. Cracks me up. Have you seen him being interviewed about smoking weed on top of the White House. He is hilarious and quite the Rebel still.
I'd spark one up with Willie..prolly wouldn't remember much after that, but I'd do it,lol. Pretty sure he could smoke me under the table. Much love,Willie! Love what you're doing for the farmers, and our shared passion, horses!
I stumbled upon this song quite by accident and I'm glad I listened to it. I have been in pain for ten years now, from a hit and run by a drunk. I've tried everything the doctors have told me and nothing works. My daughter keeps telling me to try some weed. At this point I'm ready to try anything and why not something that grows naturally? If I ever get the chance to ever meet Willie in my neck of the woods I will send out a plea to him and hope I get the chance to smoke weed with Willie. I no longer care what others think of my statements anymore. No one should live like this and if it works for medicinal purposes then by all means make it legal. I don't know if it would work for me but I would like to be given the chance to try it without legal reprecussions. But, like I said, I no longer care. If I were busted for smoking it and it had given me relief I would go down fighting and become the poster women for weed to become legal.
I hope you can find some relief. My wife tried some liquid cannabis after knee surgery. She's never taken any drugs or alcohol in her life and after taking the pot syrup and being relieve of her pain she wondered why this would ever be illegal.
I would like to thank you both for your posts. It will give me something to look into. It's a terrible thing to have pain but it's even worse to get a hold on it or find anything to get it under control. And I agree with you Bill on the why part. Why, if something works isn't it legal? A good question that needs answered.
Victoria Reel sad but true....its illegal because of money. there is more money to be made in man made medications than in natural remedies. for example...they can cure cancer but in north America alone caner meds bring in $160 billion per year. and yes in several medical studies cannibas has been show to kill cancer cells. you should try to find a movie called " the union : the business behind getting high ". very informative and very , very disheartening. the short of it is that the money is more important to politicians than the people who voted them into office :( things are changing for the better though. people are educating themselves and are starting to see through , beyond and past the government bullshit.
skullmonkey062369 I know that the Pharmaceutical Companies stand to lose a lot. I also know that in the states where Marijuana has been made legal there has been a drop in prescription drug us by 25%. Also, in those states the use of heroin and cocaine and meth as well as the rest of the top illegal drugs have declined as well. It only makes sense to make a naturally growing herb legal. But then the government loses out along with the Pharmaceutical Companies. And, with it being legal in some states is only making people move to those states where they know it's legal just to get relief from their pain. Oh and I didn't vote any of those people in the government today. I will look for that movie though. Thank you.
My wife says I don't listen to country when Toby died shared her an entire playlist of country musicians and rock n roll country music a whiskey and a joint was needed to mellow my mind
My first husband worked the soundboard for Willie on tour down south for a bit in the mid-eighties, filling in for the regular guy on paternity leave. People ask him for his reminises, and he says, "I....really don't remember too much. There was a lot of smoke in that bus...."

My dad would smoke his weed listening to this song while he was going through his cancer treatment for Mesothelioma.
How is your dad doing now?
He passed away in 2008. Though he helped the local doctor to get several teenagers treatment for theirs. For a test that my dad had the doctor knew that they should see an oncologist. They were able to find the source for their cancer sooner.

I got to meet Willie around 96’ or 97’ in Albuquerque. Nicest guy in the world.
Played this for my mother before she died and she got a good chuckle out of it and she was a very religious and devout Christian. LOL !!!
