    I recently bought a Lanshan 2 branded as 'Flame's Creed'. I'm sure they also make the single person version.
    That could give you a third option to choose from.
    BTW: thanks for your modification videos, I applied some of them and they worked out great.

      Another version of the identical tents just with different names? Makes you wonder why they bother!
      Anyway, I’m really happy that some of my modifications suggestions have worked for you. Cheers

    Great tent great review I have had the Night Cat for over a year completing many over night and 7 to 10 day hikes in the UK and Ireland . I have never had a problem with the Rams head but do have a mini carabiner on my bag as a fall back . Also I have on a couple of windy occasions lowered the trekking pole down to 120 not used the rams head and just used the loops on a couple of extra pegs so the front is much lower. The other thing I suggest is replace at least 6 of the pegs for longer hook ones as I have had the flysheet ties slip off or pull out the pegs provided

      That’s a good suggestion about the pegs. I did consider including peg choices in the video, but it’s a contentious subject and it really deserves a video of its own!

      @@longsufferinghiker just with the ground being so wet this year the short pegs did not cut it when it was windy too. - great video on your tips and tricks too

      @paulpeopleperson3594 I used to use Delta anchors for the main guylines, but they’re just too bulky and heavy. I’ve also used Titan ground anchors in the past. Now I use titanium pegs with a nice wide ‘V’ profile, which seems to be the best of all worlds

    Late to the party here. Both 3FUL and NC are made on the same factory. The Lanshan isnt possible to seam seal at the factory - which seems quite odd, when the Night Cat IS seam sealed. At the same manufacturing factory..
    Besides that, the only difference is that the Nightcat is made of 15D Silicon nylon on the outer (20D inner) and the Lanshan is 20D both out and in. Well, yeah. And the zipper you mentioned 😄
    How has it been this past year or so? Does it compete with your Lanshan? Thinking of buying it instead of a much bigger Nordisk Halland. It only needs to fit me anyway. Packed it 1/3 of the size and weight of the Nordisk.

      My impression is that both the 3FUL and NC non-pro versions are seam sealed at the factory, but the Pro (single-skin) versions aren't?
      TBH my tent of choice this year has been the 3FUL Lanshan 1; I recently completed the Cleveland Way using it, and it was great for the warmer weather (it outperformed my friend's Big Agnes Copper Spur).
      The Nordisk is a great looking tent, but a bit heavier and much more expensive. But for bad weather/4 season use it would be a better option, I think, because the flysheet is closer to the ground and that vestibule is massive!

    This is a great review, Thank you. I just can't make my mind up as the Vango Heddon 100 is also a contender, any thoughts on the Vango? You see hardly no reviews apart from one on RUclips, looks great for the money as does this.

      @longsufferinghiker  Месяц назад +1

      Hi. The Vango is certainly an interesting alternative. I particularly like the extra space over a Lanshan 1 because it uses 2 poles. But I don’t understand why they don’t give it full doors on both sides. And it is significantly heavier, too. Personally I’d take a Lanshan 2 in preference to the Vango; similar weight, much bigger inside, and it has 2 identical vestibules. And slightly cheaper too 🙂

    I have the Lanshan 1 Plus with the J door & I sleep with my feet at the door end (head at the mesh end) To get out, my feet go out first on to my sit mat, I then sit up, pop shoes on & stand up. Getting is just the reverse, shoes off, feet in last.

      @longsufferinghiker  11 месяцев назад

      Good comment; I guess that will work. But I have my head next to the door for easy door opening, cooking, and reaching into the vestibule, etc., so it's more tricky for me, which is a shame :-(

    It's a really good price and quality great too. I have found it restrictive due to my height so is a struggle with the j zip so I passed mine on and now just use the lanshan 2 all the time. Outdoor gear essentials is great for UK stock and I use them whenever I can

    • @longsufferinghiker
      @longsufferinghiker  11 месяцев назад +1

      Yep; I think exactly the same.
      I’ve got a 3F version with 3 season and 4 inners, which is much more versatile.

    Good review👍a great tent for the lightweight hiker, but not enough room to be comfortable in wet conditions for drying/ storing gear. In wetter conditions I'll stick to the Lanshan 2.

    Can you use the 3ful 4 season inner in the night cat?

  • @ulperformance4087

    The tent is disappointing weighing in at two plus pounds. My DIY Dyneema floorless tent is the same configuration as the Night Cat tent. It weighs a mere 6.24 ounces, is 9 ft long, 4.45 ft. wide at both ends at the length, 5 ft wide at center and 3.74 ft high. I used glue construction throughout making it integrally waterproof. It has a 3 ft long waterproof entry/exit zipper and waterproof vent zipper w/mosquito mesh and hood. I have a loop at the peak of the tent so that I can set it up by eight or more means in wooded environments or a pole for interior support.

    • @longsufferinghiker
      @longsufferinghiker  11 месяцев назад +4

      Wow, that's extremely light! But presumably if it's floorless then there's no groundsheet, and it's a single-skin shelter, so it's not really a fair comparison. For the UK I would prefer a double-skin tent, and a groundsheet is usually best for the ground conditions. Having more headroom also works better for me.
      I'm very impressed that you made it yourself, though.
