Goodness you're brave getting in that cold water. That Akela is a stick loving guy. A beautiful place there. Thanks for taking us along. Be safe. 😊👍
Actually, the swim scene was from this summer when it was 95 outside... I just though it would add to the video! LOL
@@GoingNoWhereFast LOL 🤣🤣👍
I really enjoyed the pace of this video. I would watch you saunter around giving tours of boondocking sights all over the country!
Well thanks! I'm sure not one of these all energy excited guys who yell about everything. Its hard to tell if that's more appealing. But it doesn't really matter, because I am what I am!!
What a beautiful Shepard! They make the best camping/adventure buds.
He certainly Thinks so!! Thanks for the comment, I'll let him know his fans are active!
Awesome! I will add that to my list!
Its VEry nice, and there are more around the corner, I'm going to do them in a few weeks!
My brother and I use to camp there a lot but we camped down the very long road where the primitive sites are. The site I am talking about you actually drive through the creek driving in. But of course the have the area paved where the creek crosses the road. It's been so long I can't hardly remember how to get there but we use to walk along the water and trout fish.
That's mostly still there, though its now a bridge over the water and the primative site are up front now. Its a nice area for many reasons!
That's awesome! Thanks for sharing
Thanks for the comment, I like your Channel too!
@@GoingNoWhereFast you're welcome! Thanks 🙂
There is a nice swimming hole upstream from the cement bridge. There is a trail leading up to it, I go try to keep the tree limbs cut back every few years. Also, you can take your vehicle up to the top of the mountain.
Yes, but I was trying to keep that one secret... for just me and Akela !! LOL. Also, its just a little tricky to get to. There ae even better one up stream of there, and they are rarely used
That is where we camped as kids with the Boy Scouts. I'm 70 now and have some great and really cold memories. Let's say that the gear we had then was not as good as what I now have. There is an old graveyard up on the hill, and there used to be (stories) of areas where the moonshine was being made. The first time I ever got struck by lightening was at Mortimer. I hope you stopped at the little store at the intersection and looked at all his Scout patches.
Yes!! That little store at Mortimer is awesome. Like the entire area is. We are slowly exploring the area. This year it was so crowded on the river rd the State police were chasing people out. Thanks for the comments,! Weren't the boy scouts the best fun you could have back in the 60's !! Awesome times !! ThanksYou !
I'm past those days of skinny dipping, more like chunky dunkin'. : - )
I can relate to that!! LOL
I was on a dive trip where a bunch went skinny dipping
You know your getting old when you don't get an invite 😞
Looks like a great place to boondock.thanks
Its one of my favorites, especially if you like to explore the hiking trails!
Hello from Albania. I will be camping in NC in April. I will stop by for coffee and donuts.
Sounds Good To Me!!
Wow!!! I know that was cold! Great video!
The magic of the camera!!
Great info!
Thanks !
Thank you for the great video. I live over on the ocean side of the state but my heart is in the NC mountains. Finding myself alone, I am heading out solo camping as much as possible to "reset" in Gods great creation. I will try and head out that way this fall. Thanks for your video.
Sounds like a similar plan!! Maybe we'll cross paths !
Those camp sites look great. You are saving us the leg work of finding them and this way we know what to expect. Thanks. How cold was the water?
There was some shrinkage !!
Looks like a good spot.
They were a little crowded this year, usually not bad. Always an Open spot!
Awesome spot...
It has some very nice attributes! Thanks for the comment !
Thanks for sharing new to your channel
Welcome! Hope you find it interesting and useful
Isn’t Pisgah wonderful?! We have not been to that location as of yet so enjoyed your tour! Take care!
Yes it is! We spend a lot of time exploring it. Best time is from Now to Easter !! Thanks for the comment !
Man that's alot of leaves on the trees for winter time at the swimming hole lol
SHhhh.. People might figure it out!!
Nice, headed there in May. Hope I don't see any loose dogs.
Only if they are playing in the water! Check their website, I believe they open April 1, but make sure!
Its 6:41 p.m. here , Minnesota, it is 7 degrees. Can hardly wait for spring. A lot colder up north. Wind chill is supposed to get to -40. Brrrrrr.
You know... Wind chill is over rated!! I lived in the furthest Northern Part of NY. At the 45th parallel, and it was regularly -30 below zero F. Yes if you had exposed skin, it froze, but if you were bundled up, the wind made no difference. Wind chill is only for exposed skin, stay bundled up and stay WARM!! Enjoy the outdoors, and Love the indoors !! LOL.
@@GoingNoWhereFast I will, its sunny and 9 today, that sun really makes a difference.
Yes it does!! Sometimes it makes you think its a great day to be out, but its really very cold!!! LOL
That water sure looked cold to me, you're tough. Another thing we Agee on, I too did not care about watching the Super Bowl. Stay safe.
Ya, It more hype than good sport !!
thank you for the tour. i hope one day to make it to N C one little request..if you get my message. when you speak about thr "privies" bathhouses could you add please if they are handicap or wheelchair accessable in case we dont or cant see the signs. some of us need to be aware of handicap amenities before we go places. THANK YOU!!!!
Every regular Flush Bathroom I have Reviewed is "Handicap Accessible". Now some seem more so than others, but they are all labeled as such and do seem to be a bit larger. But, Yes, I can mention that. Thanks for the help with the channel
Thanks for the video Rick! I always enjoy them, could I get my Aliner back there with my Subaru Outback or do you four wheel drive to get back to that campground? Thanks
You could get a Prius towing a fifth wheel in there. Its a full size, fully maintained road.
@@GoingNoWhereFast Nice Thanks Rick!
Another great video but what are you going to do when 7000+ subscribers show up for coffee and donuts?
That would be so awesome!!
I stoped by, but the sign on the lawn said " by appointment only"
Lololololololololol
Right
Blowing Rock , the Vail of NC
And the place that has some very nice bars and restaurants!
Looks like a neat place. Not sure how I feel about the privy.
While Privy's are subject to being dirty and gross, these are cleaned by the forest service at least two or three times a week during COVID. Not sure what they will do after that, but they clean several in the area at least weekly so it may stay nice once all the Idiots are out of the woods and back on the couch watching Netflix
I would rather watch your video than the supper bowl
Thank you.. And if my Video is bad, well at least its over in 15 minutes!! LOL
What’s the nicest place near Charlotte nc you think please and thanks love the vid
There are a ton of places near Charlotte. I haven't spent that much time around there except Kings Mountain and Crowders Mountain State Park. Both are great hiking places. And tot he east is Uhwarrie and Peedee. Both great places you can get lost in for a few days and really enjoy!
When this place is open it's full of 4 wheelers and such. So be prepared for the noise and dust.
Well ya, That is what its for. Its an Off Road Vehicle trail system. Though the trails are mostly for Motorcycles and ATV's. I think I'm told one of the trails you can get a jeep through, but not easily...LOL
Me and my dog will be on a moto camping adventure once I feel like we can weave around weather… 1300mile loop from Lexington ky, to harpers ferry, down blue ridge(for the first time) into the Smokey mountains, a few places we had in mind for sightseeing was new river gorge, Washington DC, then wheels through time museum in Maggie valley, on over to clingmans dome, then pass through Gatlinburg heading north home.definitely would like a doughnut and a short conversation.
That would be very cool, do you have dates when you'll be on the blue ridge Parkway? Or reservations at any campsites? We'll shadow your reservations and meet you there!
Hopefully July 1st, I’m still waiting on a few more camping essentials to get shipped here and looking for a window of opportunity with the weather. This will be my very first solo camping trip far from home so I wanna make sure I got all my ducks in a row. I’m hoping to be somewhere in that area for the fourth, I’m a huge American history fan and really wanna see as much historical monuments/areas I can fit in.
Oh and as far as camping I plan on disperse camping as much as I can if it starts to rain I’ll probably look for an airB&B or cheap room.
Designated or Public Dispersed camping or even ABNB will be tough to find in the middle of summer as the pandemic winds down and everyone is getting out and about. But if your tent camping there is a lot of open woods to set up and sleep in. Don't seat the weather.... there is always Mcdonalds to hide in and they are all WiFi connected for free. Just travel and have fun. There are 100 helpful people out there for every A--H---. Just ask and be friendly and yo will be amazed how people will want to help you out. Just stay away from saying anything political..LOL
Absolutely great advice. Thank you hope to see you down the road.
Post a grid coordinate of the general area so i can find it, thanks for the video
In the description
Great sites, I'd like to come visit there, we want to travel.
Time will come!! I hate to tell you it was 62 deg here today.. Awesome nice!! But a bit muddy with the dog !!
@@GoingNoWhereFast I love swimming and just love water, did you lose your other dog? I would love to have a dog, my husband is allergic. But were thinking about it.
I have lost many dogs, none are easy to think about. I have videos on my channel about them.
@@GoingNoWhereFast that's a problem with dogs, you love them so much, then they die. I grew up with so many different types, cats too, but dogs are really companionable. The one I miss most was a collie, she was sweet and smart, followed me around. They really shed in big clumps! So 60's for you, that's just about perfect. When it gets so cold here, you just can't imagine that it can get like a jungle in summer.
@@susanpremo8068 You know winter is too harsh when you can't remember how hot it gets in summer !
Are most these sites capable of having a small camper in the parking areas or are they tent only
There are just 2 sites where you can actually get a camper trailer in and off the road. Unfortunately the forest service has dropped huge boulders at the entrance to the other 4 sites due to people leaving so much trash and doing damage getting in and out with a mid-sized trailers or RVs.
When they say "off-highway vehicle" what do they mean? Would a Subaru Outback cut it or do you need a true off-road vehicle? Would be towing an Aliner.
The Main Rd to the Camping areas are regular roads. Dirt, but good for anything. They don't open until April 1st though (I think)
Do you know when they open that campground to the public?
April 1st. Most of the forest service dispersed camping site that are closed, are only closed from Jan 1st - April 1st down here
Is this on the Brown mountain road Near Wilson Creek headed toward Mortimer?
It is on the road at the south end of the brown mount beach road along Wilson Creek. The road runs from Rt 181 to Adako. I think it called the Adako Road? Just Google Brown Mtn OHV.
@@GoingNoWhereFast thank you so much!!
Do you need to reserve or is it first come first serve.
First come first serve.
Does it really reach 90 degrees there? According to elevation and weather report of past? Only reaches the 80s. Plz lmk before I plan a summer camping trip at pisgah forest. Thx
No it never gets 90's. Its air conditioned! 🤣 🤣 It gets over 90 on the rocks and tops of the mountains, though usually there is a nice breeze. But these is lots of water to play in !! 😀
Yes, this summer was especially hot.
What's the latitude & longitude of the waterfall area?
No Idea, but the road into the Brown Mountain OHV is marked on Google Maps, and its roughly 1/2 mile up that road.
What is the Name of the is Campsite? I have looked through the description and comments with no luck........
There are a bunch in different places, this particular ones are at the Brown Mountain OHV area, near Morganton, NC. Google It!! They get pretty well used in the main summer months/Weekends.
What’s the distance to the Town? Thanks for the video.
Which Town? 😂 Charlotte, NC 105, Asheville 65, Boone 35, Morganton, 18, NY City 650.
Need to get you a Honda generator
I would accept it, but I doubt I need it !
4WD vehicle needed to get to that campground?
No, Not in the least. Its a very good road.
Sorry, just now seeing this. I've been to Pisgah to vacation quite a few times but didn't know about this location. I'm a dog freak and wonder if your dog is a Dutch Shepherd. If not, what breed?
Regular German Shepherd. Sable coat from East German Area. He was supposed to be a police dog but we stopped training during COVID.
Thanks for the info. I’m going on 38 years with German Shepherds and love the breed.
@@112wade You just can't argue they are the best of all dogs !!
They lock the campground area ? Why ?
This is actually a off-road vehicle use area with seven campsites. So they locked the road to the area to keep people from using the trails during the wet seasons.
Can you stay there with a class A?
Can you take your class A down a washed over forest service road and back into a forest and tree dotted lot? If its a very small Class A
Any water?
Just the Clear Blue Mountain Stream!
I imagine those free sites are first come first serve?
Yes they are, and certain times they are full, but mostly there is room in a pinch
@@GoingNoWhereFast well it's just my tent and jeep, I will make room, being near that little swimming hole seems fantastic!
@@henrys2957 There is another one up stream a little ways. It id more like a big hot tub. And Way away from most people. I did another video on it this summer.
@@GoingNoWhereFast okay I will have to find that clip. I might make the driver from eastern NC this spring, after I do my long weekend and cape lookout!
@@henrys2957 There are a surprising number of great places similar to that. Especially if your tenting. Check out my play lists.... free free to ask me anything !
Can you send me some free spots?! I want to go tomorrow
Find any Forest road in the national forest and there will be camp spots. But the roads maybe rough, or the sites maybe full. If you go to the National forest website, they will have established campsites on their maps. I can't give you a particular site since I don't know if its taken or not.
Better than football anytime
I think I might have seen Brady win a game before anyways.. whats to watch!!
😳wow... wasn’t expecting a strip tease at the end!! 😁😂🤣
Absolutely beautiful place! What’s the boondocking rules there? 14 day stay? and how long til returning?
You know, this year I have seen the same 3 trailers there for most of the summer, so not sure they police it much, but ya, 14 days and then 7 days away.
I HOPE YOU SEE THIS COMMENT. FIRST TIME EVER GOING CAMPING. ILL BE COMING ON THE 1ST! WOULD YOU GO WITH ME PLEASE! IM 27 FROM TEXAS. AND HONESTLY IM SCARED.
What would you be scared of? The trees and the flowers? and maybe a few other campers. Life is good and easy camping. No worries!! A lot safer than skydiving! Thanks for the comment!
@@GoingNoWhereFast Bears lol
@@GoingNoWhereFast skydiving is a blast! You gotta go!
@@GoingNoWhereFast what's a recommended spot if any there where it's beautiful and safe. Also where I can try fishing, never been as an adult so trying to catch and cook
Bears have all gone to sleep for the next few months.
Thats not dispersed campsites
Ya. They are. They are designated, dispersed, campsites. It’s just nice they have toilets so you don’t make a total mass of a stream area.
