you are right: Live video recording with sound on a backing track dubbed over. It's pretty easy to spot the videos who actually have live audio, since BM usually puts (LIVE) in the title when it's live 😄
⚡ 💕 / 💃 This is BABYMETAL's tribute to Japanese Dance music of the '90s. The "Whoa!" in the background is a famous sample used in many '90s dance hits. The guest guitarist on the studio version of this song is Tak Matsumoto. He's best known for the group B'z. They're the best selling artists ever in Japan, and one of the best selling worldwide. It was quite a score getting him for the 'Metal Galaxy' album, but as Su has mentioned in interviews, they were able to get all of their first choices as guest artists. Matsumoto was very influential in Japanese Dance music from the '90s, so I think he was a great choice for this track. Moa's lyrics in her rap section are direct references to dance songs of that era. She's literally listing song titles from that era. I was there for the world premiere of this song at the LA Forum on October 11th, 2019. About half the footage in this music video was from that show.
Great reaction. This video is a mixture of footage from their concerts at the Forum in LA in October 2019 (octagonal stage) and Osaka Jo Hall in Japan in November 2019 (big triangular stage) and, as you thought, it had the studio audio dubbed on top of the live footage. The rap (Madonna Vogue?) part was Moametal. Guest feature on this track was, as you know, Tak Matsumoto. He is the founder and guitarist with Japan's biggest ever (by a very long way apparently) selling band B'z and getting him to collaborate was a really big deal for them - of course he provided the guitar solo.🎸 As you are finding, each song is different to the last ... I'm not a fan of dance music like this by any stretch of the imagination (it was impossible to avoid when I was in my late teens, much as I tried) but somehow they make it so much better and, while it will never be my favourite BABYMETAL song, I can enjoy it (and my younger self wouldn't have thought that could ever happen).
Sonisphere 2014, their first big performance outside of Asia, also known has the miracle of Sonisphere, they absolutely won the crowd over. Also Megitsune is quintessential BM and a lot heavier than Da da dance.
One of the great things about Babymetal is that they continuously leave you going "Not what I expected, but I like it!", no matter how much of their stuff you listen to.
Great reaction, thanks! This official video has the studio version over the live visuals. As a general rule for the videos on their channel only the videos with the word "live" in the tittle are actual live performances (for the audio and the visuals). "Da da dance" is definitely not among my top favorites but I got it live in concert earlier this year and it was pleasantly surprising. I enjoyed it a lot. 🤘🦊
Great reaction! I think "Da Da Dance" was by design meant to be danced along by the audience, just like you did 😆 That was fun to watch! I´m a bit out of the "common opinion" about this, I believe... I absolutely LOVE "Da Da Dance"! 🤣 So freaking energetic, very poppy, but heavy at the same time, and the "Wooh!!!" including the choreo is just great! I would love to watch this live myself 😄

I like your attitude and your very observant comments. I particularly appreciated when you mentioned their commitment. When Babymetal go into a song they go all in and it's one of the things that makes them so beloved. The audience understands they're giving their all. Tak Matsumoto did the short but amazing guitar solo in the middle. He is a rock legend in Japan and has been rocking hard there for years and years. So it was both a coup and homage to get him on this song. Great job on this reaction.

First of all, welcome down the foxhole to the metal galaxy that is Babymetal. Second, you will need a separate Playlist for all of their songs lol.. You should be able to read through the comments for all of the most popular videos, which are pretty much live performances. I can add that Road of Resistance (live in japan official), Headbanger (Legend 1997), Babymetal Death (also from Legend 1997 tour) and Monochrome (PIA arena 2023), really were epic. *Also, the Monochrome (piano ver.) from The F1rst Take RUclips channel, is a stripped-down masterpiece lol* To showcase the band, there are live performances titled Kami Band intros and Mischiefs of metal gods intros, that introduce certain songs. Catch Me if You Can, Yava, and Rondo of Nightmare are great videos for that. Been loving these reactions. I like Moa's crazy dance in this song. So fun! I would recommend Akatsuki (Red Night), or Rondo of Nightmare with Mischief of Metal Gods intro for something a little heavier. Note: Both of those performances are only Su and the Kami band.
The whole concept of Babymetal is mixing metal with Japanese pop and Idol Culture. Hence all the cutsy cloathes and dancing. It will come in different degrees in every song but most of the time there will be electronics in there.
Great song as all of them are. I suggest metalizm for something really different and really showcases the band as well. Babymetal always produces music like this, all are great leaving mainly personal taste as to which are the best. Another group to check out from japan for metal is Nemophila, insane metal especially the singer and they do a lot of covers usually western music, For hard rock the best Hard Rock band from japan and at the top with the best of the best in the world is Band Maid, those ladies are top musicians equal too neophila and lovebites for skills and even more for the fact they write everything do for the last 8 years and they also are a live performance band.
You should react to the band passcode. They are similar to babymetal but they have a member who does screams and they have a lot of electronic elements in their songs. I recommend taking you out or flavor of blue to start with. Not a lot of people react to them since they are a lot smaller but if you like babymetal you might like them.
Very cool!!! Babymetal is great!!! Every song is a surprise. You will see elements of rap, rock, reggae, pop, indian music and others, always bringing a fusion with elements from various metal trends. You might also like Nemophila, Lovebites, Unlucky Morpheus, Band-Maid, Gacharic Spin. Whenever you can, try to watch videos of live performances. The clips are great, but it's great to see them live. Enjoy Babymetal!!! 🤘🦊🤘
It's cool, this song is their poppiest by a very wide margin and isn't high on my list of favourites either. To get a sense of how their early songs mixed heavy metal and jpop I'd recommend a double reaction to Doki Doki Morning official MV, followed by the live performance at PIA Arena in 2023 ❤🦊🤘
In general, my favorite track is the last one I listened to. I love everything BABYMETAL ! everything? well, let's say everything except Da Da Dance and Meta Taro...after all, you need a little rain to enjoy the rainbow !🦊🤘
Da Da Dance is a one of their few hit or miss songs. Really depends on the mood. Sometimes I'll skip it. Other times I'm jamming. One of the best things about babymetal is that they incorporate so many different styles and genres. If you're looking for more of their heavy stuff, I would start with songs like "Rondo of Nightmare" (live version of course lol.) I forget exactly which one has the long intro, but that's a good one to show off the band itself. It's also one of their earlier songs. "Monochrome" has become one of my favorites. It's one of their newer songs. "PAPAYA ft F Hero" is a great genre mixing song that also leans heavy with the metal. Since you liked "Headbanger", make sure you check out the live versions. There's also a Moa version and a Momo version of headbanger. I recommend watching a regular version then watch the Moa and Momo versions.
Tak Matsumoto is "best known as the guitarist and main composer of the rock duo B'z, the best-selling music act in their native Japan " since 1988 they've been in the charts. If you remember acts like: 2 Unlimited who make electronic Eurobeat music in the 90s or something, at the time this music also came to Japan and some groups in Japan tried to make similar music and Tak Matsumoto was the one who made guitar music for such groups in Japan.
Megitsune live Next. The song that pulled me down the Foxhole But you aren't thinking about Dragonforce, are you? Their main themes on their songs is the gaming world.
Megitsune is my favorite song from Baby Metal. I recommend the MV for this one. Just make sure to alter the video or whatever to avoid copyright. The corporate overlords are real jerks for Baby Metal Offical videos. Another band you may like is Bloodywood. They are an "Indian Folk Metal" band. They mix metal instruments with traditional Indian instruments. They do not seem to mind if you use videos from their RUclips channel. My favorite MV from them is Dana Dan. Aaj is a great one too. Actually, I like all of their songs. lol
The instrumental video game music band... by any chance was that Powerglove? They did a lot of songs from games and cartoon themes (Simpsons, Flintstones, X-Men to name a few). If that's not them, oh well, but maybe check Powerglove out anyway!
BM is by far my favorite band, love getting to watch you react to them, this one doesn't come up often. up down left right BBAB is another that doesn't come up often, they never performed it live, definite video game feel to it though. Not suggesting it (I love their live performances too much) but if you want a really odd BM song check it out.
Ok, looks like you are headed down the rabbit hole. Subscribing. My suggestion as you get sucked into the vortex of Japanese metal is to forget about genre--it's just not relevant, you are in another universe. Japanese metal is on an incredible roll, especially the women, who are kicking ass on an epic scale. Another great band you should check out, is Bridear. Founded in 2011, they were in the second wave of all-female heavy-metal bands. They have the classic twin-lead attack and technical rhythm section. They have gone through some changes but have always kept their hard, heavy, technical sound. Their tiny bassist even does death growls! They just released their new album on June 28 (Japan time), and it’s a banger. BURRN is calling it a masterpiece. The Metal Hammer review compares them to Lovebites (an apex band which you are going to get to soon, I guarantee you!) They have posted two video singles from the album: “Still Burning” ruclips.net/video/v7UOTBAtJh0/видео.html and “Cult” ruclips.net/video/ohFf1pwwoz0/видео.html
Wow didn’t expect you to like this one, but awesome! Lol. I suppose in some ways it’s slightly “electric callboy-y”, 😆. Tak Matsumoto = famous guitarist, as in all the solos in this song. Look forward to more Babymetal! 🤘🦊
@@HeadbangersGuild If you enjoy the more upbeat stuff too, then you should check out Metali (Official Live). A fun groovy metal festival song, a bit heavier. Featuring Tom Morello on guitar solos, and one of the first few times Momometal unleashes her “fangs”. 🤘🦊
Would love to see you check out Babymetal’s “Akatsuki” live at budokan in 2021. There’s a great video of it on the “For the Fox God” RUclips channel. One of the most powerful live performances I’ve ever seen
They experiment quite a bit, so not every fan will like every song. If you want total stylistic whiplash, do "Iine". I recommend the "LIVE LEGEND 1997" version, but the MV is also great, and I believe there is a newer version with english subs on YT as well.
iine is a headache, because there is always a very good chance it gets blocked altogether, or at best blocked to people in Japan because YT seems to misidentify them as some old concerts that is completely blocked since iine basically uses the same synth across the board. I and FTFG basically had to put music underneath the audible levels of music to get them up. New 2023 performance: ruclips.net/video/RCSi1t0hQ-E/видео.html
@@Hymnodic I did not know that. But as far as I can tell the worst case scenario is you have wasted a bit of time on making a reaction video. There are channels that had a dozen BM videos blocked and are still there.
This song is enjoyed more when you know BABYMETAL completely, it is understandable that you find it different, that is why people do not usually recommend this song too much to those who are embarking on the journey of getting to know the band's music. Although that doesn't mean it's a bad song, quite the opposite. :)
I'm smart enough not to say I don't like this song in a forum occupied by my fellow Babymetal fans so instead I will say I like it just as much as Iine! but less than all their other songs. I don't even love ALL Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and AC/DC songs, so there is that. 😂
Unless an official video has Live in the title, it is always studio. Live is definitely worth checking out as live is always heavier, and just better overall. The only live version on YT currently are a couple compilations, and there is a new live version of this song on the upcoming Legend MM concerts which release on Blu-ray next week.
@@HeadbangersGuild YT is a trap on compilations. Some are hit or miss, some don't even say compilation in the title. Generally the channels who? and For The Fox God creates the best compilations. I am still somewhat hopeful Amuse will allow the upload their new Blu-rays which setlist includes new performances of these songs I am looking forward to" First Album: BABYMETAL DEATH Gimme Chocolate!! Doki Doki ☆ Morning Megitsune Second Album: Road of Resistance Syncopation THE ONE YAVA! w/Kami band intro Karate Meta Taro Third Album: Elevator Girl DA DA DANCE Shanti Shanti Shanti Kagerou w/Kami band Intro BxMxC Starlight Arkadia Distortion PA PA YA!! Fourth Album: Believing MAYA No Album: METALI!! w/ Kami band intro
@@HeadbangersGuild I'll 2nd. that. Especially if you ever react to Pa pa ya. The official video is exactly as described. Very exciting but studio audio over live concert. The Pa pa ya Live though is just on another level. The crowd is so hype and the combined energy of them and BM is incredible. Definitely look for that LIVE distinction.
@@Hymnodic Sadly on your last hope. It seems to me Amuse knows how much it makes off those Blue Rays and I don't see them releasing any upload any time soon. I hope I'm wrong but you know...money!
Another band to add to your list must be Lovebites, particularly if you enjoy the classic British metal sounds. My first introduction was a track Shadow Maker and then Rising both via their music video recording. Could give a feel before you dive into their live stuff which is just perfect.
So, while everyone else sends you further down the Foxhole, with fantastic reason, I'll recommend my favourite Japanese band, Dir En Grey. They've been around with the same members since '97, and all of them bar one were in ANOTHER band back to about '95? They're another band who are impossible to nail down to a single genre. Prog Rock/Metal is probably closest but also utterly incorrect. They are performers as much as BABYMETAL. Though, it might be more accurate to say the lead singer, Kyo is. I think the only best choice to start with to give an idea is Vinushka. The top results for the song on RUclips are live. Watch those because Kyo's vocals are.. fucking insane. His range is ABSURD.
Not a fan of this one tbh (although it seems fine as a song and has a few little moments that are great)- alongside the English version of Elevator Girl (and maybe English ver. of "The One" 😳) - but the VAST majority of their stuff is amazing - I guess they're ok to take a shot at everything- in some cases maybe only once though imo............ Do continue with them - they've done their pop/disco thing a few times now and I don't think it'll be back around for a while - and they are an amazing group.
Eurobeat could often be found in most of the Japanese racing anime as back ground music. Babymetal integrated heavy metal into it. So, shell we call this a Racing Metal?😂😂😂
Not gonna lie this is the one Babymetal song I just really don’t like at all. I have been a fan since 2016, seen them multiple times live, have watched the whole pro shot archive at r/Babymetal multiple times and just don’t like it. And that is fine. I wonder where his idea of watching old songs and progressing forward went. An$ why pick this song of all the banger songs out there?

Well we are all welcome to our opinions. I personally disagree but hey, that's just my opinion. But "worst of Japan"...really, whew. Considering-if nothing else-all the doors they've opened for other Japanese artists. Well that alone should put them a loooooong way from worst?
@@Kaesemuchacho Actually it was the declarative of "worst" that kind of got to me. For me I can like a band, not like a band or hate a band. That all fits within opinion. To state a band is the "worst" is a declaration of value. I'm completely cool with someone not liking Babymetal. But I've followed them for a while and used to be a musician myself. I have a good sense of how much work, training and prep go into one of their performances. And it is amazing. Like them or not. But acknowledge the dedication and accomplishments and just say "hey their just not for me!" Nobody should take offense at that.

APMAs 2016 Interview: BABYMETAL | PRS Lounge
Man you need to react to the Momobanger version of Headbanger. The Moabanger version too but definitely Momobanger.
I recommend it, Sis. Anger. Heavy blackened death metal song 💀🤘
Never heard of this one
It's cool, this song is their poppiest by a very wide margin and isn't high on my list of favourites either.
To get a sense of how their early songs mixed heavy metal and jpop I'd recommend a double reaction to Doki Doki Morning official MV, followed by the live performance at PIA Arena in 2023 ❤🦊🤘
I love it when they do Doki Doki Morning now, and Su-Metal pitches her voice up to be more like her 12 year old self, it's adorable and fabulous
In general, my favorite track is the last one I listened to. I love everything BABYMETAL ! everything? well, let's say everything except Da Da Dance and Meta Taro...after all, you need a little rain to enjoy the rainbow !🦊🤘
Check out *_Akatsuki_*
Its absolutely face meltingly metal and heartbreakingly beautiful at the same time.
If you remember acts like: 2 Unlimited who make electronic Eurobeat music in the 90s or something, at the time this music also came to Japan and some groups in Japan tried to make similar music and Tak Matsumoto was the one who made guitar music for such groups in Japan.
haha 2 unlimited! blast from the past for sure but I can see that yeah
@@HeadbangersGuild Also, DDD, like a lot of other songs off the Metal Galaxy album is composed for and recorded on the album with a 9 string guitar.
👍👍Great performance and reaction. 🦊 🖖❤
Megitsune live Next.
The song that pulled me down the Foxhole
But you aren't thinking about Dragonforce, are you? Their main themes on their songs is the gaming world.
Mate you have to do Rondo of Nightmare 2014 Budokan live if you love great guitar work the intro by the Kami band will blow your mind 🦊
If that's not them, oh well, but maybe check Powerglove out anyway!
you should try POLYPHIA if you don't know about them the song is PLAYING GOD
since I’m late to the party i don’t know if anyone mentioned it already: might you have been talking about machinae supremacy in the end?
The Metal Hammer review compares them to Lovebites (an apex band which you are going to get to soon, I guarantee you!) They have posted two video singles from the album: “Still Burning” ruclips.net/video/v7UOTBAtJh0/видео.html and “Cult” ruclips.net/video/ohFf1pwwoz0/видео.html
next rondo of nightmare with kami band intro
I think you should still go back to the beginning. Just sayin'.
Keep rockin’ BABYMETAL!!!
KITSUNE UP!!! 🤘🦊🤘
pls react to syncopation, its a incredible song
🔥🦊🔥
Yeah, stop looking for "a sound". Just enjoy.
🤘🦊🤘🇲🇹
Well you should go by albums and then you'd understand the evolution of Babymetal.
Wow didn’t expect you to like this one, but awesome! Lol. I suppose in some ways it’s slightly “electric callboy-y”, 😆.
Tak Matsumoto = famous guitarist, as in all the solos in this song.
Look forward to more Babymetal! 🤘🦊
Well it was very upbeat!
🤘🦊
Bro, try some Maximum the Hormone next. They just released a new song.
🦊🦊🦊❤🤘
Happy Birthday Moa🎉🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂
There are channels that had a dozen BM videos blocked and are still there.
i think you gonna love Doki Doki Morning and Iine (iine) MV or Live
This song is enjoyed more when you know BABYMETAL completely, it is understandable that you find it different, that is why people do not usually recommend this song too much to those who are embarking on the journey of getting to know the band's music. Although that doesn't mean it's a bad song, quite the opposite. :)
I'm smart enough not to say I don't like this song in a forum occupied by my fellow Babymetal fans so instead I will say I like it just as much as Iine! but less than all their other songs. I don't even love ALL Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and AC/DC songs, so there is that. 😂
if you don't like _Rocka Rolla_ , _Women in Uniform_ , and _Crabsody in Blue_ , then your not a REAL fan of those bands either 😡
😉🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
A fun song, babymetal world tour 2019/2020, this song is played more often, the first song of the show🤘🕺
This isnt the sound of Babymetal lol it is but it isnt. If that makes sense. The guitar riffs in this song are dope tho.
Unless an official video has Live in the title, it is always studio. Live is definitely worth checking out as live is always heavier, and just better overall. The only live version on YT currently are a couple compilations, and there is a new live version of this song on the upcoming Legend MM concerts which release on Blu-ray next week.
ok thanks I will try and find a real live one next time
@@HeadbangersGuild YT is a trap on compilations. Some are hit or miss, some don't even say compilation in the title. Generally the channels who? and For The Fox God creates the best compilations. I am still somewhat hopeful Amuse will allow the upload their new Blu-rays which setlist includes new performances of these songs I am looking forward to"

@@HeadbangersGuild There are a few OFFICIAL LIve videos (Road of Resistance Live in Japan, Metali Live, Brand New Day Live)
Its hilarious you believe you are an Old Metalhead.
I'm really a fan myself...just saying.
Hmmm you skipped all of the great BABYMETAL recommendations and went with Da Da Dance?
someone mentioned it was a bit different a while ago so it went in my play list
Like this:
Headbanger LIVE featuring solo by Moa in honor of her 20th birthday (HQ Pro Shot)
ruclips.net/video/MToMx6RCW-M/видео.htmlfeature=shared
@@HeadbangersGuild instead of OFFICIAL MV's That are studio audio and do not have actual Kami Band instrumentals or crowd noise suggest
HQ Pro Shot videos of LIVE performances that have LIVE audio actual Kami Band instrumentals awesome intros and actual crowd noise such as the link I just gave you plus below you will see the difference immediately
Road Of Resistance LIVE at PIA ARENA Hymnodic channel (Most epic version and very recent)
Megitsune LIVE at PIA ARENA 2023 HQ Pro Shot from Hymnodic channel
Monochrome LIVE at PIA ARENA 2023 HQ Pro Shot from Hymnodic channel
I like DA DA Dance... It would probably get a lot more requests from me if I had a live version that wasn't a compilation to request.
@@HeadbangersGuildignore that someone and go with the overwhelming number of suggestions, Megitsune, Ijime Dame Zettai, Catch Me if You Can, Death, all from the 1st album. Loved your idea of going older to newer and last 2 are DaDa and Ratatata?
Babymetal is really overrated
There good but the worst of japan in my opinions
Try some :
Passcode-taking you out
Unlucky Morpheus- Unending Sorceress
Jiluka- Venom
Nocturnal bloodlust- Cremation
Broken by the Scream-sayonara birthday
Deviloof- GouZinZanGoku
Maze- idol riot
Dexcore- saviour
Believe me .. japan is hiding so many good banda 🇯🇵🔥
Well we are all welcome to our opinions. I personally disagree but hey, that's just my opinion. But "worst of Japan"...really, whew. Considering-if nothing else-all the doors they've opened for other Japanese artists. Well that alone should put them a loooooong way from worst?
@robote7679 I like all other bands more ... So they the worst? Isn't it ?
What is wrong with this ? My opinion.. u can share your own
@@Kaesemuchacho Actually it was the declarative of "worst" that kind of got to me.
