    So...I'm totally thinking about leasing a 2024 ioniq limited awd. I drive a lot (between the same locations though) and will use EA as my only charging option. I know this would work for me in the warmer months, but I'm worried about the colder months. I had an extended test drive the other day of the car I want. I fully charged at one station and then did the drive I would be doing regularly. I drive 78mph, and it's all interstate. Car showed me 220 mile range with 100 percent charge. I drove 105 miles and I had about 90 miles left of charge. I had the a/c on but had it in eco mode for most of the trip. Yeah, that would work during the warmer months. But is it going to work during the colder months? I'm not willing to freeze and 'only use the heated seats and steering wheel and keep temp at like 65 degrees'. I usually keep the interior at 75 plus heated steering wheel.

    • @Rhaman68
      @Rhaman68 2 месяца назад +2

      As long as you insist on 78 mph, very inefficient speed vs 65 mph, highly efficient speed, and the AWD, less efficient than RWD, and higher trim levels that add weight, perhaps this EV model may not be suitable. I drive a 2022 I5, SE RWD, 21000 miles, and the range with AC/Heat, is either over 300 or close to 300. I use Auto Regen Level 2, there is a setting that when using the car’s navigation, the onboard computer helps with increased efficiency. I have logged 3.8 to 4.2 miles per kWh year round. SW Ohio, mostly flat and mild winters. Whatever you drive now, compare efficiency at 65 vs 78 mph and see what data you get. Good luck.

    • @wantsanewvehicle
      @wantsanewvehicle 2 месяца назад

      @@Rhaman68 I insist on 75 - 78mph lol speed limit is 70 on highway. I probably have similar winters to you but need the added performance of the awd, so awd is a must. I need the bose speakers, and lower trim levels feel extremely cheap with hard plastics everywhere so limited is also a must :/ Currently have a 2023 santa fe limited, pretty much get the same fuel economy at 70 or 80. Yes, I know driving slower uses less energy in general but I'm not willing to drive slower.

    I've had a model 3 for some 4 years now and looking to replace it (it's been a great car and I have few if any complaints; just time for a change....) and the Ioniq 5 is a car I'm considering especially with the announced upgrades. One of the things I have been spoiled by with the Tesla is the key integration with my phone. The thought of having to lug around a huge remote in my pockets in the future really gives me pause. Why aren't more manufacturers going to integration of lock with phone rather than remotes? Among other advantages and convenience to the customer, I would think that the cost for manufacturing is less since you don't have to design/build (and charge for) a separate device.

      I recently called my insurance company to quote insurance for new Ioniq 5 vs Model Y vs Mach E GT compared with my 2017 VW Alltrack (the VW was $1,100/yr in NY for comparison). Ioniq 5 was about $360/yr more than the VW, Mach E GT was $400 more than VW, Model Y was $900 more than VW. I figured all EVs would be similarly more and was surprised Tesla was double more. If you're curious, I really like the Ioniq 5, but didn't want to wait for a deal on the '25, so instead found a deal on a Mach E premium. It was a hard decision, they're all great for different reasons, I'm liking what I've got 😊.

    • @AroPnut
      @AroPnut 2 месяца назад +2

      That's just wireless charging in general, fast wireless charging is inefficient and generates a lot of heat. The only way to avoid this is to line up the charge pad and wireless charger perfectly.
      Its why companies like apple have moved to magnetic wireless chargers rather than the older free floating pads.

    Looking "rugged" isn't rugged. This looks alike nothing but marketing hype. You would be a fool to go off road in this thing. A 1"rise will do nothing more than lower your range. Have they beefed up the suspension in a significant way? It seems most of what they are doing to make this attractive is cosmetic and done without engineering purpose. Sure the software and some interior improvements but nothing to suggest off road capability. For that you have Rivian, Ford and even the Cyber Truck. This is just pablum.

    I own a 2024 model, but don't see any changes for 2025 that would give me "buyer's remorse." Indeed, there are some features that I would NOT want. I don't like front-to-back cup holders, and don't need a rear window wiper with my digital rear view mirror. I do wish Hyundai EVs had "pet mode," but perhaps that will come via an OTA update…? I do think it will prove useful to have a J3400 charging port, but it worries me that Tesla has yet to include Hyundai in its list of automakers whose access to Superchargers is "coming soon." C'mon, Tesla: get the lead out!

      Bigger battery, new infotainment (black trimmed, way better than white), wiper, manual recondition control, NACS/J3400 that everyone is switching to, physical buttons for common controls...

    good improvement but still not enough to knock out Tesla's 3/Y. Range has to match or exceed the long range/performance models. Also needs full $7500 tax rebate. I know a lot of tesla owners who genuinely said they wouldve got ioniq 5 if it wasnt for the lower range, no tax rebate, tesla supercharging network. So hyundai is getting there but not quite. Also that XRT is a joke, looks ugly AF, like a car that had an accident and owner decides to fix bumper themselves but never paints it. Paying that amount of money for that is ughh. Will make hyundai look like a joke seeing those cars drive around like that.
