Hopefully he can end his long stint of bad luck with this win but also not too much because im rooting for Rovanperä because im from Finland. I would love to see a close title fight between the two though. And even if Kalle wins this year, Im sure there's more championships for Tänak to come
While you can probably tell this wasn’t a flat-out push (I think Ott left quite a bit of margin on the corner approach in particular, being very tidy nearly all the time), this was really good fun to watch. It’s safe to say we didn’t lose any of the spectacle with the new cars.
Indeed. At the stage-end interviews, Ott and most drivers have said they haven't pushed on this stage because of how slippery it was. There's an Ogier onboard on this stage from 2013, where he is even tidier.
I think in morning interviews there would be no one willng to admit that they were going to hold back, but considering how easy it was to end your rally with one minor mistake, the smart money was on caution and consistency.
@@zwjna Yeah your right, it seems like a pretty unforgiving stage. It’s definitely a challenge with all the tightens. It’s difficult enough in a sim. I couldn’t imagine in reality.
lol that is easy ( Estonian is read similar to Latin, Italian or smth like that, no vowels dropped or shwa-d even in unstressed syllables): "vasak" - left "parem" - right "üks, kaks, kolm, neli, viis, kuus /-kümmend (-kend), sada" - one, two, three, four, five, six/ - ty (-ty), hundred "nukk/nukiga" - crest/with crest "viskab" - throws/lifts off "hoia" - hold "kitsas" - narrow "avaneb, lahti" - opens, open "terav" - sharp "kinni" - close "pikk, ülipikk, megapikk" - long, extra long, mega long "lühike" - short "alla" - down "üles" - up "sisse" - in/to inside "seest" - from inside (cutting) "aeglane" - slow "kohe" - (now) right after "läheb" - goes to, moves on to, transforms to "hea" - good, easy, okay (surface?) "tagasi" - back "järsk" - abrupt "tõus" - liftup (uphill) "seo" - connect, link, bind "libe" - slippery
@@inkersmelodyoriginal It's a clutch. They have semi-automatic gearboxes. Those cars therefore stall at low RPMs without using the clutch pedal, but gear changes can be done without it.
@@zwjna Yes that far-left one is clutch. But I think the question was about the left pedal his foot sits most of the time on. So, yes, the left foot is on the brake most of the time.
As an Estonian, Ott Tänak is a national treasure. He's in another league entirely.

Absolutely insane. Brains, power, teamwork, and stamina. Complete package.

with all those random boulders on the side of the road - it would be race sabotage to maximum attack this stage.
Ott Tanak in attack mood is the best

Is this video fast-forwarded?
No
When he wants he is the fastest and has no rival, he is the only champion left Rally 1..
At some point I really need to learn some basic Estonian, just to understand what Martin is saying. 😅

Anyone knows what is the purpose of the left pedal? is it a clutch?
Yes it is
Yes. Watch the pedal cam from 11:15 to 11:22
It's a brake pedal, because these new rally cars also have a quick-change gear.

That seems quite a rough and hard terrain.
