The WRC is the FIA World Rally Championship, a tough motorsport using rally cars on real roads around the world. Watch the best rally drivers battle on gravel and asphalt roads with mud, rain, dust, ice and heat! Watch high speed action as the rally drivers power slide and drift round narrow corners, go flat out over a big jump or through a watersplash, handbrake turn round a hairpin, survive a big moment, or have a massive crash! Rally requires maximum attack and careful tactics to become world rally champion.
Each rally has timed sections called special stages, on closed roads. Drivers complete these stages as quickly as possible. A co-driver reads pace notes that explain the hazards ahead. Rally drivers use the same rally car to travel to each stage on public roads, following normal traffic regulations. The crew which completes all the stages in the shortest time is the rally winner. Championship points are won using the same scoring system as Formula 1. The championship is administered by Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), motorsport's world governing body.
Over 30 countries have hosted WRC rallies. Rally Monte Carlo, Rally Argentina, Rally Finland, Rally Portugal, Tour de Corse on Corsica, France, Rally Sardegna on Sardinia, Italy, Safari Rally in Kenya, Acropolis Rally in Greece, Rally New Zealand, Rally Australia, Rally Japan, Rally GB, Rally Catalunya, Rallye Deutschland, Rally Mexico and many more.
Some of the world's greatest drivers have won the FIA World Rally Championship for Drivers, like Colin McRae, Carlos Sainz, Walter Röhrl, Stig Blomqvist, Petter Solberg, Ott Tänak. The list of world rally champions includes many Finnish rally drivers like Juha Kankkunen, Tommi Mäkinen, Ari Vatanen, Marcus Grönholm, Hannu Mikkola. French drivers have had success with Sébastien Ogier, and 9 times world champion Sébastien Loeb. Famous drivers from other motorsports have come to try rally driving like Ken Block from Rallycross, and Robert Kubica and Kimi Räikkönen from F1.
Car companies compete for the prestigious FIA World Rally Championship for Manufacturers awarded to the most successful WRC constructor. Winners include Citroen, Hyundai, Volkswagen and Peugeot. Ford have had success with the Ford Escort, Ford Focus and Ford Fiesta when the M-Sport team won in 2017.
The 1980's featured the iconic Group B rally cars like the Lancia 037 and Delta S4, Peugeot 205 T16, MG Metro 6R4, Ford RS200 and Audi Quattro.
Japan dominated the 1990s with the Mitsubishi Lancer, Subaru Impreza, and Toyota Celica and Toyota Corolla. Toyota returned to the WRC in 2017 with the Toyota Yaris WRC, winning in 2018. The 2019 championship was won by Hyundai with the Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC. Find out about the latest winners and champions at www.wrc.com
4:53 big watersplash, 12:05 small watersplash, 19:20 fastest part of the stage maybe, Famous BIG jump MIcky's Jump at 20:26. (This video suffers from a few jump cutsin the recording at 4:12,12:32,17:35, 20:59 and 31:03. Our apologies.) Paddon stage time was 39 minutes 26.8 seconds
it's amazing how the driver is so focused that he looks bored.
He's such a great driver, but I've always thought Paddon just naturally has a look, like he is totally baked. He also kind of looks like young Elvis.
@warren mann Indeed. He seems to be driving just with the pacenotes; that's why the driving looks (and is) quite careful. But when they drive mainly with their memory, they drive like mads and those onboards are pure joy - specially of those with aggressive styles, such as Latvala/Ogier/Tänak/etc.
@@zwjna I wouldn't say Ogier has an aggressive style
@@fenwa592 I mean, "big slides" are not all there is in terms of aggressiveness. Watch this video as an example; pay attention to the revs sound; to the throttle/braking/steering inputs, and the scandi flicks; specially in the high-speed sections starting at 3:14; very fast left-to-right movements, as well as up-and-down: ruclips.net/video/dlaAgX_Se_0/видео.html
@@zwjna He's driving on the limit, but he is still known to have a a very smooth style, like the French drivers typically do. You're right though that people like Latvala and Tanak have aggressive styles.
2021 still reliving this 2014 WRC onboards.
Thanks WRC...!!
Want a stage like this in Dirt Rally
indeed, they feel short and most of them repeat some parts or it's simply backwards...
maybe your talking about dirt4, anyway WRC7 has this rally and has the best stages way better than DR in that department
@Hill get RBR and you can download endless km of stages...
get wrc 8, that is a good rally sim
@Damar Fadlan unfortunately dirt rally 2 isn't as good as I was expecting
Hats off for that co-driver. Brilliant delivery sir! And the driving? Well. We all watched it...
Gracias. Q placer ver estas on board!
Mickeys Jump: 20:25
What a co-driver! My new favorite in-car.
This video is what I´ve been waiting for all this time. I´ll go make some popcorn and nachos and sit back and enjoy.
Stop waiting and sign up for WRC+, it is quite cheap.
@@jendabekCZ People prefer to whine and cry on every video that they aren't given for free what others pay for.
Great! It's amazing when you look at the whole stage and empathize what the drivers are doing.
And just won his first WRC Rally, this really was the point where the talent in him was discovered by the masses, however if you've followed him for a while you'd know he was to be a top level contender when he won the PWRC with ease.
That's good video. How bad ass are you to be able to read in the car like that without getting a headache or car sick.
Great driving! I have a pace note for the editor of this video...Don't cut. :-)
Zatracenec hahahahahhaha
Finally someone who speaks English! XD
Beautiful and mesmerizing. WRC i love the history and evolution of it. Marcus Gronholm in the Peugeot 206 and Paddon will become synonymous with a particular make and model over time.
The master of the World Rally Championship stages!
very impressive driving I love this and the navigation was very good
playing RBR without visual pacenotes really helps you follow and understand his pacenotes in real time XD. have fun and i challenge u guys.
im waiting for the eally game that lets you edit the notes
@@jackclass5446 i know im late but, with the pacenote plugin for RBR, you can do that.
This popped up on my recommended 10 years later Lol
Excelente video 👍Rally lo mejor de lo mejor
Best stage ever :) go Sardinia
Wonder how many pages does those notes take
Thanks!!!!!
thanks for sharing!
I love this videos
Proper rough stages like this don't exist anymore.
Please, put the SS05/ LOELLE onboard cam !!!
So real!
Thanks for video!. is it possible to se SS 6 TERRANOVA NORD 2 form Ogier or Latvala, thanks a lot
Wohohoho, really reliable car!
the negatives can get fucked our kiwi boy is going to be another Possum Bourne legend! way to go mate.
Sick!
When John Kennard says "...into K left", is that a 'kick'? And is there a difference in a crest vs. a kick?
JesterHead K = kink
7 right is just a straight road??
I always wonder: What makes you become a codriver? Id always want to be the driver! Are most of them retired drivers?
no they are not retired drivers
if you want to be involved in rally and cant drive it put you in the car if you too scared for that you can be a marshall etc...
Some people just prefer it. It still takes a huuuge amount of work and talent regardless.
He looks a bit stoned :D
me too
It was tiring to look through!:) Whit all due respeckt to the competitors!!!
7 corner ? Never heard that before
7 video cut :(
why O'h why?
Hayden Paddon - MonteLerno PART1 and PART 2
It's so long that they had to cut bits of the video out
When the codriver says “K right” is that shorthand for kink right?
Not really, but at the same time yes.
It means that the corner's k shaped - as in the second, v shaped part of the the k (enter at the bottom right and out at the top right of the K)
That's skill!
anyone watch this in 2018?
who was it that said kiwi's can't fly ? These two can
Are all of this people hitchhiking? I mean... they all start waving as soon as they see this car... But driver is so mean... never picks up anybody :( so sad...
Also the passenger is so demanding! :0 Just keep telling where to turn and how to turn... No wonder the driver never stops for anybody...
The video has 4 to 5 cuts, what gives??
I noticed that too... maybe people flashing? I have no clue what else would warrant being cut...
why shortened??
I guess, it would had been too long to get under the YT video-Lenght restrictions etc!
nice!! :D
Right side camera(
We miss San Remo.
WHat??? f**k Sanremo
Ogier is 2 minutes 11 seconds faster lol nice
To be fair, the car is relatively new, the driver hasn´t driven on WRC level before, and their set goal was to "make it to the end". And I think, keeping that in mind, this guy was pretty darn quick.
Jeremy J. i see. obviously, Paddon was doing it very well. but isn't it still interesting to see how he's lost 2 minutes? for me he was quite fast. race is long no doubt, but it could also outcome from certain mistakes that were cut in this video. no idea. at least it would be just interesting to see someone else's run, like Ogier.
You forget to mention he stopped when he saw his teammate Thierry Neuville having his car set aside, Neuville had done the mistake of not putting up any sign telling everyone there is no need for any help. Paddon stopped becuse he had no idea if it was some serious accident or not, I think that contributed to 90% of his slow time, also he have never ever driven this rally.
yeah, you can't really compare VW Polo and Hyundai I20 at the moment, because of the differences, like car being still relatively new etc.
***** You definitely have a point, road-safety or performance upgrades from WRC are constantly being translated into onroad technology. The constructors are finding out a lot about efficient lightweight solutions, stiffness and durability.
However, the tyre compounds are not under the constructors control. They are being deployed by Michelin, with every team getting the same variety of tyres from the same batches.
So, with Ogier, he either is some kind of puncture-evading autist-savant - or luck has been constantly on his side.
