Some places you can do it. We did New York to Charlotte on the train and it was great in business class. You can't really go out west with it though, just up and down the east coast and even then they only go like once a day at really awkward times.
Your description of your fear of flying really hit home with me. The flight that started it for me was a "fully loaded" flight out of Vegas. On takeoff, during the first part of the climb, there was a loud bang and the plane dropped what felt like 20 feet. Then just kept climbing. To relate it to a car ride, it felt like we "jumped" railroad tracks or something. I think MAYBE something huge shifted in the cargo, I don't know we weren't told. I almost hyperventelate from stress on most flights :(
Haha! I love those pressure things when the aircraft drops. I remember on a trip over the Southern Ocean where we were travelling through dark clouds, the aircraft suddenly dropped over 200m - I could see the difference on the screen on the seat in front - and everyone freaked out in the plane as our stomachs crept into our head. Yeah, i can understand why someone might not like flying after something like that.
TB for the radio play/comedy idea I have a plan. Crowdsource it. Write a play, put the audio file on your website, and then when someone creates a good animated version you favorite it, playlist it, perhaps they would allow you to upload it yourself. I mean look what this had done for GameGrumps!
Also, methods most certainly show the priorities and personalities of those who try to teach. It's not just about them, it's about you too. Teaching is a twofold experience in that regard
When TB mentioned chinchillas sometimes fight to the death I couldn't help but chuckle. I imagine something like a scene out of Gladiator or maybe a gentleman's duel involving two chinchillas.
This is so true. English is not my native language (I am from Ukraine) but I've noticed that my speech has drastically changed after I've started listening to TB. He even inspires me to learn English idioms that sometimes are hard to understand but anyway I'm still learning :) On topic though: great video TB! I like these series, keep it up
your reactions do get better because the gameplay is smoother. It is kinda hard to explain but, for me personally it is about an extra 2-3 kills and a couple less deaths per game so it does help
You could try using Bandicam, I think it's excellent quality and it doesn't eat your harddrive space. You can select sources of audio too, so with colab work you just record as normal.
Best variety gaming channel on RUclips. Topic? Chinchillas :). Also, any insulation on wires is great for chewing. Happy you're back and got this series running again.
I can say that I can relate to the fear of flying thing. The same thing happened to me, and the only real difference between me and TB is after a flight, I feel really pumped and a little paranoid for a couple hours, before I calm down
Artemis missiles load faster and bypass shields, which makes for a better emergency weapon than a laser; those are the kind of weapons you should put in the earlier slots, there's no benefit in using them for less costly weapons.
I believe TB that if you take the train to Chicago and from there you can take a train to East Coast. Since Chicago is still one of the major train hubs in the US.
I am sincerely sorry to hear that. I once tried to take a train from Chicago to L.A. to visit family in San Diego and noticed it would take nearly a week, at very specific times and had limited seating/ super expensive tickets. I may suggest that a 5th wheel ( large size R.V. like trailer) may also be an option. It will increase travel time by a few days from location to location, but may save you money on hotels and reduce anxiety. I hope this is helpful.
TB would it help if someone could explain, in detail what likely happened to your aircraft? and some other procedures that mean you don't need to worry in situations like that
We had chinchillas once. Two of them. But while the pet store said they were both female, this turned out not to be the case. We moved to a new home, during which the female that we thought to be male escaped, and a few days after moving the female gave birth to two baby chins, in a cage unsuited for containing chins of such a small size. We spent the following two months chasing tiny chinchillas and finding them EVERYWHERE around the house.
I suspect this was done because air from a room drains slower if the doors to adjacent rooms are open. However, once it's fully drained of oxygen there is no point in keeping the doors open since it won't fill up again until you fix whatever caused the leak. It just becomes more dangerous since your crew has to walk through more rooms where they lose health before getting to the medbay. I've lost my entire crew this way once =\.
Chins are great. We rescued a mom and a baby, and they were hilarious. They liked to cuddle up in both ends of a cardboard tube (big one), and when I had to clean their cage, they wouldn't come out. So I picked up the tube. All of a sudden - pop - the baby comes flying out the tube, and I see the mom sneaking back down. So she tossed her baby out at the potential monster, sacrificing it to save herself. Not exactly "mother of the year" material.
Yes, I know. I never said they were fandumb. It's just that in Minecraft they're always willing to look past the bugs (which I don't have a problem with) while in other games they don't stop cracking down on them (which is where my problem starts).
When I was about one I had a similar flight experience to TB's. I don't remember it but apparently my family made the new because me and my brother were the only children on board.
haha tb i think we are well past being imature about what content and change with the channel, i think your one of the only youtubers that has most of the control over his channel without the viewers going mental, so no need to worry just incase you did:)
What is frightening with flights I think is the fact that you lack any sort of control, your life is entirely in the hands of the pilot. In a car it's usually up to you, if you are the driver, how safe you wish drive. Of course there are external factors like other reckless drivers but at least you can potentially avoid disaster with quick reflexes.
i thought you could do cross country trips via rail, but maybe it is the mid west that stops it. i know there is a route from portland to salt lake and up and down the west coast.
I have the same problems with flying. Came out of nowhere though, betwen flights, you seem to have a more valid cause to fear it. That kind of experience would make anyone nervous, sheesh.
I'd still say, not really. Mailbox was game and game industry related questions only. This video series was based on one AMA (Ask Me Anything) session on Reddit, a pretty popular format there (Obama did one). As the name (AMA) implies, TB answers questions outside the scope of the Mailbox. Another major difference is that it's real time. So answers are shorter and not as in depth as with the Mailbox. Of course, if you don't find these differences to be of consequence, then you are correct =)
About the first question - Look at ChimneySwift11. He's been doing The Minecraft Files since he started. Literally! His first video is The Minecraft Files Ep 1. And he still does it. And he started doing other stuff after a while and people watched it.
All I know, is that while we didn't start the fire, we sure as hell keep it going. Combat ignorance with as neutral of knowledge and as much compassion as you can muster, not knowledge with a large dose of anger or condescension. The medium is a large part of the message. People DO note the ways in which they are taught, and are as likely to be molded by the methods they're taught by as much as the lessons themselves. That's Pavlov and his canine coming to save the day for you.
I have a copyright related question about using game images on a website. How can I make sure I don't violate the game's copyright, knowing that the articles are directly related to the pictures, like game reviews, or first impressions?
as an animator i have to say that for one person to create 1 minute of animation is a lot. for films it is "usually" around 6 seconds of animation per week. depends on the quality offcourse.
Some League of Legends lore that TB managed to prove with his chinchillas, Teemo and Tristana met in unusual ocasions and started to get along pretty well... cuddly.
These are TB's chinchillas. Of course they'd fight it out like true gentlemen (or rather gentleladies). Top hat, monocles, old flintlock pistols and all that good stuff.
Hey, TB, have you explored the possibility of travel by rail here in the U.S.? It can be quite expensive, but perhaps it may help with you're anxieties. Just a thought. The bus can also be used, but I personally find bus travel to be uncomfortable.
And that's the reason I could only watch their Minecraft videos, when I still had interest in Minecraft. They didn't go on and on about the flaws but just had a good time.
We're using Soulcalibur music in the background? Heheh. Many hours of character creation come to mind with it. I suppose if FTL had a composite ship construction mode, complete with rudimentary aesthetic choices, this would be both appropriate and cheeky.
It only takes a couple of months to get a chin to clime on you. My and the wife's 6 love to clime and jump off use. Also they sit on our shoulders and go for walks around the condo. I so love the the heard but 4 cages is a lot of cages to clean a week
TB, I know all to well about those negative pressure pockets... flying to the UK from Canada into Heathrow. Half way across the Atlantic, plane hits a pocket falls 2000 feet in our sleep. Was unsettling, that and watching that show Mayday on the Discovery Channel... should not watch that show before you go flying... and being cooped up in a plane too long is just so damned claustrophobic... I know that feel bro.
4:20 Hope this doesn't happen with the end of the Mailbox. Love the AskTBAnything series! I like having something that isn't just game related from you, PLEASE carry on.
in regards to the comedy sketch show, i would be willing to try an audio only format, as i normally listen to your videos in another tab anyway, just my two pence
Hey TB, have you ever considered seeing a doctor for some sort of a prescription to help you with the fear of flying? I had an incident which sparked a phobia as well, indeed it was the same thing; the aircraft dropped about a thousand feet. That was five years ago, and I stopped flying for two years. I was only able to bring myself to fly with a benzodiazepine script. They're powerful medicines, but if you use them properly, you'll find flying is far less worrisome.
lol, first thing i thought off when "Do not get them Wet" was "And dont feed them after midnight".. Apparently Chinchillas (or how you spell it), is code for Grimlings :)=
my family had a dwarf german shepard when I was a kid. cutest thing ever. unfortunately some of it's organs grew to normal size, so it had an oversized heart end died of heart failure at a young age =(
Er, what? Of course there are writing classes. I'm in high school right now and I have the option to take a class called "creative writing." And normal English class can be considered a writing class as well.
When you mentioned the lore channel I thought I would check if they had posted any videos. It turns out that none of their videos in the past 2 months have shown in my sub box. Thanks RUclips!
Chinchilla's will chew... on anything and everything that can be chewed. Don't let them run around freely TB, unless you have something against the electric cords in your home. They are also nocturnal and loud when they get bored. Not a good pet for most people in my opinion. Cheers TB!
Some places you can do it. We did New York to Charlotte on the train and it was great in business class. You can't really go out west with it though, just up and down the east coast and even then they only go like once a day at really awkward times.
There's a short video on Gennas channel and there's a photo album on the subreddit.
I'm glad this is series is continuing. Really enjoying hearing more of your thoughts.
This is epic of Epicness, I MUST SHARE MASSIVLY to share this awesomeness. Thx TB for making me more knoweble. and for the honesty ofc. Yay.

Love how the nice music kicks in when TB talks about his Chinchillas getting along well.
I agree, one of these every now and then would be cool as a mailbox replacement too!
I love how intelligently you speak, wish I talked like this.
Also, methods most certainly show the priorities and personalities of those who try to teach. It's not just about them, it's about you too. Teaching is a twofold experience in that regard
I love this series.
Some interesting observations/insights in this one.
When TB mentioned chinchillas sometimes fight to the death I couldn't help but chuckle. I imagine something like a scene out of Gladiator or maybe a gentleman's duel involving two chinchillas.

You can take trains across the US too, they're just a bit more expensive than flights is many cases.

I believe TB that if you take the train to Chicago and from there you can take a train to East Coast. Since Chicago is still one of the major train hubs in the US.
Awesome TB. Really enjoying this series.
70 degrees Fahrenheit is about 21degrees Celsius. im cold on that temperature.. 23+ is what i consider a room temperature
Hey Cabin in the woods was awesome imo! Probably because I'm amazed by Lovecraft.
i experienced a negative presure drop as well, it was exactly like you describe
I am sincerely sorry to hear that. I once tried to take a train from Chicago to L.A. to visit family in San Diego and noticed it would take nearly a week, at very specific times and had limited seating/ super expensive tickets. Faster Than Light (known as FTL), a rogue-like available on their website for 10 USD

So its not an accident that your content is designed to fit nicely into my routine of watching RUclips while taking my morning shit. You evil genius.
You gotta admit is good to look up to TB vocabulary wise!
love the inspirational music that came on as he was talking about the chinchillas
i thought you could do cross country trips via rail, but maybe it is the mid west that stops it. i know there is a route from portland to salt lake and up and down the west coast.
its under the options menu i didn't see the option until i saw TB's video. Its number in the options menu Show beacon paths on hover
I have the same problems with flying. Came out of nowhere though, betwen flights, you seem to have a more valid cause to fear it. That kind of experience would make anyone nervous, sheesh.
Charlie! I remember watching the livestream with Charlie the badass Mantis died a hero, RIP Charlie.
Loving the TA music in the background

i used to have rats as pets, they were awesome, they never bite at all and are so cute and able to climb on u and stuff

my thought exactly! i only just watch yogtrailers now, it is most reminiscent of the yogpod
I have a copyright related question about using game images on a website. How can I make sure I don't violate the game's copyright, knowing that the articles are directly related to the pictures, like game reviews, or first impressions?
FTL: Faster Than Light. It is a new Indie game that is fantastic and is great fun.
as an animator i have to say that for one person to create 1 minute of animation is a lot. for films it is "usually" around 6 seconds of animation per week. depends on the quality offcourse.
why not? its just a Q and A
TB, wondering if you were consider going to PAX East in March seeing as its in Boston and closer compared to most if not all conventions
The first thing that popped into my head when you said to not get the chinchillas wet was the Gremlins movies lol.
wow i just found out you can show beacon paths on ftl i had no idea you could do that thank you tb
Amtrak runs trains from New York to San Francisco daily, and very scenic routes
I love "Hit It With A Car." It's pretty funny. So's that parody of The Twilight Zone that Filmcow does.
Some League of Legends lore that TB managed to prove with his chinchillas, Teemo and Tristana met in unusual ocasions and started to get along pretty well... cuddly.

The chinchilla story was possibly the cutest thing I'd ever heard
Yes, it is.

Love the AskTBAnything series! I like having something that isn't just game related from you, PLEASE carry on.
Glad it's back
Where did this show go? I really miss it
AMA TB:
Hey TB, will you be attending Dreamhack 2012 Winter? And if so, what will you be doing there?
Having not seen these animated shorts TB is talking about makes me go "lolwut" to the names.
in regards to the comedy sketch show, i would be willing to try an audio only format, as i normally listen to your videos in another tab anyway, just my two pence
Soul Caliber music in the beginning!
Most likely the baggage was crated and the handlers didnt tie them down that happens when the handlers are rushed sometimes.
yay! TB is back!
Hit it with a car is totally the best series on youtube =D
Wondering.. when are we going to see ep.9 did I miss a twitter post about or anything, or (my guess) did you just not have the time to do it?
When you were talking about the Chin's it reminded me of the film gremlins lol

I hope he shows the rest of the ftl play-throught next time, I want to see Cox and Charlie fight the rebels.
That air pocket sounds like wicked fun.
It's apparently a very common name for them. I've had three myself and I've also seen one pop up on one of JefMajor's videos.
lol, first thing i thought off when "Do not get them Wet" was "And dont feed them after midnight".. Apparently Chinchillas (or how you spell it), is code for Grimlings :)=
I feel like an old crazy man for being entertained by your videos since the wow cata beta.
Anyone know what the background music is for the first part of the video? I know it but I cant quite place it!
The way you told the story about the flight that made you into an aerophobic amused me to an unhealthy amount.
Besides it being rather enjoyable.
So do you guys think lets plays would be a bad idea for running a channel?
my family had a dwarf german shepard when I was a kid. cutest thing ever. unfortunately some of it's organs grew to normal size, so it had an oversized heart end died of heart failure at a young age =(
ive experienced that negative air drop about 7 years ago and i actually thought i was going to die not a great thing to feel when you are 15
I Hear Soul Calibur V character creation music in the background from 0:06 to 1:23 -ish. Why?
He actually tweeted about it a few hours before you commented.
He's given his support to 2Bucks.
Er, what? Of course there are writing classes. I'm in high school right now and I have the option to take a class called "creative writing." And normal English class can be considered a writing class as well.
