Thank you, thank you, thank you! I heard "of course DotA is very old..." and was thinking "Please mention AoS, please mention AoS" and you did. So thanks, TB, for being informed and working to make others informed too.
TB, the second question gives the text of the third question. You can fix it if you want or just don't be botherd. Best of luck and remember your making great video's.
I just wanted to thank you TB, for bringing Rhapsody of Fire to my attention. It is right up my alley along with Avantasia, Freedom Call and Blind Guardian.
Note on the XBOX LIVE player grading system, it doesn't seem to do all that much, but at the very least you can mark other players as Preferred or Not Preferred and you will less likely to encounter them in matchmaking. Well, provided there are more than enough other players to fill the lobby of course
@Question 3: SW:TOR also had a simular system in pvp. Each player could desinate 2-3 players as a mvp which gave them a slight boost in pvp points. I know this system encouraged me to play objectives more, encourage team, and be vocal and try to organize team better. I knew by doing so I would earn mvp votes by doing so.
Actually a lot of 360 -> 1080p can be 1 channel mono, while 240p usually resorts that. Though that's normally a tendency of old RUclips videos, I've seen a few new ones having it too.
Not that I know of, but the honor you can give to the enemy team is called 'Honorable Opponent' and the description is that you can give that to a player that you would look forward to playing with or against, so maybe?
Getting the augment in FTL that allows all activated weapons to be ready to fire as soon as a battle starts is a very easy way to beat FTL; problem is, you've gotta find it, you've gotta buy it (its expensive), and you've still gotta get a good deal of weapons.
I think that the honor system is one of the best things to happen to LoL. So many times after a great game I have wanted to thank my teammates for their good play, but can't. It also brings out the nice people inside us instead of the trolls because we want to be honored.
As additional information for the third question, being a League player myself, I can say that the amount of people raging in full caps about how bad people are playing has decreased dramatically from my perspective. I think I only had one game since the honor system was introduced where someone was raging. Just if some of you were wanting to get some more info about said subject.
i think they are talking about the The Game Station Podcast. Its a Podcast about Gaming, that TB hosts. You can find it over at the the game station channel.
in awesomenauts, gold or more acurately "solar" is only dropped when someone or something is killed by creeps or turrets. when a player kills someone or something, i.e. has the last hit, he automatically gets the solar for the kill. so the only difference to LoL is that there is gold to be earned too when a creep/turret kills another creep/player (by collecting it after it dropped).
So I was the anonymous asker for the LoL Honor question. I probably should have signed my email, didn't think about it and it's fair to not just take the email address (although it was right in this case) Just wanted to say thanks for answering! :)
I will actually counter TB on the third question comparing it to xbox live. On live you have to go out of your way to actually give someone a report; you have to open up your dashboard, go to the correct list, find them on that list, go to their profile page, click a button then click your reason. In league you can easily do it via 2 clicks and you're done. They also said, it is meant to help nudge the direction of the community, not wide spread joy and in that, it has done well.
As a response to the difference between watching the Lets plays and playing the game yourself. I find it very different. As for example, I love watching TB and Jesse fiddle around Teraria, while I myself, couldn't bare with it more than half an hour. What is more, I like to play with fire myself, not just watch others play with fire. I like to make my own shots and experience the game for myself, not from other people's perspective.
Faster Then Light reminds me of the Eisensteins escape from Horus' betrayal it's the same concept basicly, you're trying to outrun rebels to deliver a important message
HoN uses a fully cosmetic model now. (Except for a new hero grace peroid called "early access" but that hero becomes free when the next one comes out.)
480 and 720 there is a difference in audio and video for sure. I'm not audiophile but I notice a difference in audio; video isn't a problem if you don't watch it in full screen, if you do it's HUGE difference you kidding me ?
Quite curious on the whole Microsoft issue. Does this also effect videos that have been out previously, or just new video contents coming out? Not too long ago did a video with Halo 3 story section. Though we were talking at points and interacting with the series as a whole and not just the singular game. Would that then cause me to go back I edit in the declaimer or remove the video completely?
thats not what i meant, i mean like one map were over a thousand players can play on. that i think is what battlefield should be well it is in the name
4:05 Can someone explain what TB ment here? Valve arnt only dealing with cosmetics for tf2, they also sell guns if you want to skip the random drop factor for the game. But also most games on the pc thats come out in 2012 sell cosmetics on their ingame stores. Im a bit confused what he means by this
Hutch (shaun0728) did a very good explanation video about this, summed up the devs ignore that the rule exists because they understand that youtube is very good free advertising and does promote sales. Though some companies (in particular those who have very story driven games) do take down videos which contain spoilers and only allow the content up once the game is so many weeks/months/years old through a big Machinima or TGS partner.
Also goes for JRPG games like the Persona series... Some people suggested in forums to just watch Persona 4 Golden's new content instead of buying it...
Microsoft have since said that the change was just a change in wording and will still allow for people to make a bit of cash off of commentary. The word change was to clarify that big companies cannot use the IP to make big cash.
Also, they did not "just" steal the system - a quote from the forum thread discussing the honor stats: "We didn't just contact them, we hired multiple PhDs related to psychology full-time at Riot. Three that work closely on Team Player Behavior are: davin, who has a PhD in Human Factors Psychology; stinkytofu, who has a PhD in Brain & Cognitive Sciences and I'm a PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience." There was a lot more thought put into this system than just "lets steal from Dota2".
So says the LoL wiki (snipped for length): "When a case receives a certain number of "punish" votes, they receive a punishment including a warning, suspension, name change, or permanent banning. Every action taken against the player is automated, with very few exceptions. Under special circumstances, Riot Games can even veto the verdict of the Tribunal, but appeals are not possible as customer service responds to requests for information with premade messages."
No, the Honour system can't be implemented in a MMO, I think. The thing about Honour is that it is policed by the players themselves and it's applied on a match per match basis. On a MMO, where private, direct communication is easy, it would be much harder to policy against honour trading. However, implementing it in SOME aspects of a MMO (Such as Guild Wars 2 PvP matches) would maybe work well. This is best suited for a MOBA though.
i actually watch videos at 360p and i can't tell the difference between 480 and 360 audio-wise. the only time i notice a difference is, like you said, when it's at 240p. 240p is horrible, 360 is really all that i can stand. my internet is shit however, so i take what i can get and what will let me watch a video in a reasonable amount of time.
DoTA sells ONLY cosmetics, and other games sell things in addition to cosmetics- LoL sells Champions and bundles and boosts (XP or IP, not power boosts), SK sells Energy which is literally a second currency nessecairy for everything, etcetera. TF2 sells weapons, yes, but most of the game's money comes from hats and boxes, NOT weapons.
On this video there isn't much difference between 480p and 1080p because the game in the background has basic 2D graphics. On any 3D game, especially FPS, I'll always wait for 1080p. I want to see all of the quality, most of those games are really nice to look at.
Rooster Teeth works with 343 industries for releases and is one of the main reasons Halo is as popular as it is. Not too forget they already have Halo 4 content on their channel :P
I usually watch a let's play to see if I like a game or not. If I do like it then after one or two episodes I will go buy it. The problem with me is that I get bored of a game very fast so I never finish them. I like to watch a full LP after I have bought the game because then I don't have to take the time to play through it myself. I have been tempted to just watch an LP before without actually going and buying the game though, so I can see where that comes from.
I do the let's plays because I enjoy making them and it gives me something to do that doesn't require a lot of focus. I'm on 60MG of Fluoxetine and the side effects are quite strong making me very drowsy most of the day every day. So I doubt I could focus on something more editing intensive or creative than let's plays. I'll keep making them I suppose but now I feel rather less enthusiastic about it all. ~_~ *Sigh*
most people can google it. It's not really hard to find what first ever fps was or where doom is similar to say wolfenstein 3-d and in what it's similar to the game I forgot the name of, before him. It's not that hard to find what first computer game ever made was, and that was some impressive piece of programming (there were no programming languages at the time).
Just to reinforce the point regarding LPs: I considered purchasing Darkness 2 but due to YT footage I passed it up and watched that instead. Now that's not to say I'd do that with every game. Just as in piracy you can't prove that every stolen game is a lost sale, neither can you prove that every view on a LP is one either. But it does certainly drive sales down on newer titles. I'm hoping older titles would be exempt from a ban, as people who haven't purchased already aren't as likely to now.
The DLC from Tripwire Interactive is comestic only as on Killing Floor. All other content is free. Rising Storm is going to be a full addon but a free basic verison is being included as well so not to spilt the community.
I've noticed TB sometimes uses a 'stock' photo of LoL gameplay. The question that's presented, 'is there an age to cut back on gaming time', is something I'm genuinely interested in hearing more about. What episode was that from?
Saw a tweet yesterday that said the podcast will be a day early, and some others talking about it too. Didn't watch it, though. I know Myndflame was the guest again, because he was streaming before it.
Might as well keep going :) I don't know why you aren't getting ads on TB videos as they are ad enabled. RUclips earns a revenue from each ad seen on their website. If you are partnered with RUclips then RUclips pays you a share of this revenue directly, if you're partnered with a network they pay the network and in turn the network pays you. TB's money (on youtube at least) comes from the advertising networks that pay RUclips, RUclips then pays the RUclips network TGS, who pays TB.
Its a Valve game for one, and a hd version of one of the most popular pc multiplayer shooters of all time for another. I think it's safe to say CS:GO doesn't qualify because it's part of an already established franchise.
I watched a full let's play of Condemned: Criminal Origins. No commentary so all you got was gameplay and story. I bought the game after. That said I can see TB's point.
When I beat the game on Normal it was my second or third playthrough, so it wasn't so rare to me. But I'm starting to appreciate wins now, when after 20 or so games I got to last sector only 2 times and beat boss once =) I like it being hard tho.
I don't know if MOBAs will get rid of items. Bloodline champions is pretty mich what Tb described (not item focused, skill shits, etc.) and that is not exactly as popular as other MOBAs.
The thing is, you don't NEED more than 2-3 MOBAs, because you can never really finish one. You can finish most FPS games relatively quickly, so having 20+ is a good thing.
I honestly can't watch 480p, I used to because my internet sucked and I didn't want to have to wait for the video to load, but after years of watching videos in at least 720p I literally get a headache from watching in 480. It may sound stupid, but it's just to pixely.
Check out smite, it's a third person over-the-shoulder MOBA currently in beta being made by hirez (the guys that work on Tribes Ascend). The heroes are gods from several different mythologies and there's a big focus on skill shots. TB did a WTF is back when it was first going into beta.
Tried to play section 8 prejudice, but nobody was playing it, it really needs a comeback cuz I think its an awesome game, and is it true that TBs server is gone or do I just fail?
I still wonder what the general view is on Let's Playing for the point of comedy and for the presenter to be comedic and point out comedic elements of a game or to make fun of a game etc
They won't do that. The whole honor system (from what I can understand and I can't say I've put too much research into it...) is designed to lower the amount of trolls ect.

Regarding the first question. HoN has actually adapted to the DotA 2 business model, with the exception of "early access".
Note on the XBOX LIVE player grading system, it doesn't seem to do all that much, but at the very least you can mark other players as Preferred or Not Preferred and you will less likely to encounter them in matchmaking. Well, provided there are more than enough other players to fill the lobby of course
Smite deals with items very well by having the "autobuy" feature, which you can disable as you discover your own builds.
That business model does exist outside of Valve. S2 have been doing it for a while now with HoN and they seem to be going alright.
XBL has been doing the player rating system forever. it does work and it is also gamed.
@Question 3: SW:TOR also had a simular system in pvp. Each player could desinate 2-3 players as a mvp which gave them a slight boost in pvp points. I know this system encouraged me to play objectives more, encourage team, and be vocal and try to organize team better. I knew by doing so I would earn mvp votes by doing so.
the difference between 480 and 1080 is really noticeable if you watch full screen on a decent monitor
Actually a lot of 360 -> 1080p can be 1 channel mono, while 240p usually resorts that. Though that's normally a tendency of old RUclips videos, I've seen a few new ones having it too.

Absolutely loving the background music
Good mailbox. Question 2 is a warning for a lot of RUclips channels.
Thank you for question time stamps in description
I've noticed a huge difference in the way RUclips compresses audio between 480p and 1080p.
I think that the honor system is one of the best things to happen to LoL. So many times after a great game I have wanted to thank my teammates for their good play, but can't. It also brings out the nice people inside us instead of the trolls because we want to be honored.

Nice. This actually answered some questions that I had.
Question 2 actually displays question 3 on screen.
there were towerdefense maps already on SC1 but it didnt became popular until WC3
depends on your monitor. I have a 1080p full hd monitor and on 480p the quality is bad on full screen.
I will actually counter TB on the third question comparing it to xbox live. It only increases his dodge chance if he actually powers it. If the energy is sitting in the reactor it does nothing.
i love the background music, so classy.

It does actually , higher the quality of the vid . better audio , try watching a vid in 240 , audio sucks then , then put it back to 1080 its awesomne

I find the giftcards are awesome for steam purchases and you can locate them most anyplace ($10-20+ but you already know that)
It's how I buy mine
He has six crew members? This has been quite the run for him. A lot better than mine.
I just realized the question for 8:00 is totally different from the text on the screen.

Myndflame, Crendor, and an Orange guy. Both TB and Dodger were MIA.
Although Heavy Rain has several endings and choices, which is difficult to cover in a single Let's Play.
...
I have learned more about how the ship menu works from this vid than I have in six different ships...
Microsoft have since said that the change was just a change in wording and will still allow for people to make a bit of cash off of commentary. The word change was to clarify that big companies cannot use the IP to make big cash.
Please TB, research your questions a bit more for Mailbox. Mainly question 2.
Thank you.

TheGameStation has the VoDs. "TGS Podcast" is the name of the show.
Does the honor system change who you get teamed up with?

Consdiering it's FTL, 360p is easily sufficient. Plus I didn't know Mailbox was content people 'watch'.
Damn I wanted to see the battle with that Engi ship. Looked exciting!

Not many make use of the pause feature like TB is in FTL. He seems to almost turn it into a turn based game.
S'been corrected on annotations.
The video preview at the end does not match the video it is linking to.
I like the moba where you can upgrade the creeps..
i loled so hard at "ppl that play steam games are obsessed with hats or whatever"

THE TITLE HAS APPEARED!
I watched this for the FTL footage the first time and for TB the second time.
Listening to the mailbox with a cup 'o tea... What a good 18 minutes xD
Its a Valve game for one, and a hd version of one of the most popular pc multiplayer shooters of all time for another. I think it's safe to say CS:GO doesn't qualify because it's part of an already established franchise.
Hey, there's no point in denying it. May as well accept that fact and then try to change it (however futile that may be).
It was? Was it not streamed on TB's twitch? I'm following his so I would have gotten an email when/if it went live.
did anyone else catch that question 2 in the screen is actually question 3?
I watched a full let's play of Condemned: Criminal Origins. No commentary so all you got was gameplay and story. I bought the game after. That said I can see TB's point.

And that is why TB had a big ol' annotation with the proper question.
SOLD! thank you GhostFear!
Anyone else noticed, that the 2nd question was different from the one, that was showed?
Check out smite, it's a third person over-the-shoulder MOBA currently in beta being made by hirez (the guys that work on Tribes Ascend). The heroes are gods from several different mythologies and there's a big focus on skill shots. TB did a WTF is back when it was first going into beta.
Tried to play section 8 prejudice, but nobody was playing it, it really needs a comeback cuz I think its an awesome game, and is it true that TBs server is gone or do I just fail?
I still wonder what the general view is on Let's Playing for the point of comedy and for the presenter to be comedic and point out comedic elements of a game or to make fun of a game etc
welcome to the world of amv creators ^^
Question 2 didn't match the message in the background at the time of Question 2
They won't do that. The whole honor system (from what I can understand and I can't say I've put too much research into it...) is designed to lower the amount of trolls ect.
The right text is as an annotation.
He already has a full play through recorded.
He has a podcast where can I listen to it?
No, that's what putting it in the engine does. Leaving it in the reactors doesn't do anything.
I think you might've misread his comment.
