I am new subscriber Dr. Bolad and found this video so informative. Thank you. I'm having difficulty breathing lately. Not sure if it's COVID or heart issues. I have black splinters in my nails and vertical ridges. My nails are weak and one keeps tearing vertically down the center. I know I need to see my Dr immediately because my breathing issues are getting worse. It's just that I also have a lot of anxiety so I'm scared to see the Dr but I'm going to make appt soon. Thank you for the information in this video.
Dr. I went to my dermatologist and she looked at my nail. She did say it was a splinter hemorrhage. I have had no nail trauma. I have no symptoms of bacterial endocarditis and she said she wasn't concerned. I've had this for a couple of months on one nail, and blood work does not show any infection. I have no other symptoms. She did say that it could just be innocent and idiopathic.
The day after I got my first Covid vaccine I woke up with splinter bleeding under my thumb nails and a larger splinter bleeding under one toenail. What else can I do ? Does anxiety lead to heart disease ? Thank you and have a wonderful new year !

You mentioned that a year ago, the nails responded to antifungal medication, so it is possible that there is recurrence of infection. White nails can also be a manifestation of other underlying diseases, so if infection is ruled out, your doctor might want to investigate you for diseases is which white nails might be one of the manifestations. A dermatologist might be able to help you as well to reach a diagnosis.
