Who do you think will land the first quad loop?
My money is on either Trusova, who's probably the most capable, or Samodelkina, who already attempted one in competition.
You Young's Loop looked quite strong

Either Samodelkina or Trusova. Anyway, I don’t think this jump will be formed often by ladies: it’s even more difficult than quad lutz but has a lower base value. Probably they’re gonna land one in competition just “to be the first” and than forget about it.
I don't think it's more difficult than Lutz or flip per se. It's more of a personal preference when it comes to toe vs edge. Someone may be better at toe quads(let's say Nathan), and someone at edge quads(Yuzuru)
I thought I read something about changing the rules to make the BV of loop, flip and lutz the same.
Yes, it was an hypothesis for this year, but than ISU decided not to do it because of the already weird and difficult season
@@lisalockwood2296 The BV of the quads are all quite similar. Pretty sure they go up by 0.5.
@@hannibaljustincase9985 I think loop is more difficult than flip or lutz. Pretty sure Yuzu said that you can either do a beautiful loop or ruin it. It’s true though, cause if you stuff up the edge on take off and rock back, you’ll stuff the jump. You can still take off l, but it’ll feel weird and slow. A loop would probably be more difficult than lutz and flip because of the edge pressure required and the motion needs to be massive to get height and rotation, making it easier to stuff up and rock back. The flip and lutz, you’re vaulted up by the pick. Yuzu finds the quad lutz and probably flip difficult is cause he delays the rotation, whereas everyone else prerotates 90 - 180 degrees.

I really think that Trusova will be the first to bring him into competition, a bit like always lol🤣.. but there is one thing I don't understand in samodeklina's quad loop. why do a rippon jump if your normal jump is not full rotate? I really can't understand🤔🤷♀️
from what I understand (could be wrong), the rippon can help some skaters stabilize the axis on their jumps. and for some it may help their lift and/or rotation as well. It's not always about style or difficulty, and in the case of a 4L, I think it must be for some other reason that she's doing it.
It helps with keeping the axis, I jumped all my jumps rippon and noticed that when training new jumps without a rippon it was more difficult. I assume it is because with a rippon its easier to stretch out to minimise air resistance, with a classic jump there's more air resistance by the body if your arms or not ideally positioned.

@@alexiadesantis6204 For me the double lutz was inconsistent so my coach had me do it rippon and it actually improved it miles!! It gave me more height with less effort and a better axis. Also it makes adding a toe or loop on the end of a jump much easier!
Your arms can get heavy. If they are higher up from the heavy body that has to land, they are less of an obstacle to a better landing. And your upper torso (shoulders, chest, rib cage) has more integrity with the arms up, and therefore is easier to control. But if you don't time the rippon properly, it will fail you. I have seen that in competition, where a skater can do a difficult jump regular way well, but with a rippon the jump was a failure. For a professional/Olympics figure skater, this timing should be easily learned.

LOOP jump is an edge jump. it has to be took off from edge but top.
The prerotations and underrotations are dizzying to look at.
loop is a jump with inherit prerotation you can't jump one without prerotating it like all edge jumps

@@1chienandalou she said she plans it for Junior World's in Sofia, Bulgaria. BTW, she is Sofia and goes there with two other Sofias from Russia, Sofia Muravieva and the champion Sofia Akatieva. My prediction all 3 Sofias can get the podium. Albeit if one falters, Isabue Levito would get their bronze
Most of the Russians already do a 4Lo, when they "try" to do 4Lz, they don't use the pick to take-off, they use the entire blade, turning it from a 4Lz to a 4Lo.
Just look back through the videos of the Russian ladies and their 4Lz and you'll see that most are actually 4Lo.

So much pre rotation and then under rotation, way I see it, they are still triples!
You'll see that prerotation in any loop, it's the correct technique. Also, of course they are under, they are from practice, did you expect them to be perfect?
Loop should have 180° prerotation.......

I wish ladies quads were banned..... it’s a jump contest now & is rather see artistry . It’s a shame these girls will be unable to be competitive after 16-17.

this is really ugly, sexist and retrograde! it's nice that women jump quads too. I think that everyone can express themselves as they want and if someone wants to express their technical skills well, right?

Maureen is the person who wrote this out of their mind?? Ice skating is about JUMPS and dance, it’s way more athletic than just dancing, you want to see a pretty, delicate performance?? Go watch ice dance or a dance contest from local high school. What you just said is sexist asf, if quads are banned, they should will be banned for both men and ladies, you don’t want to see artistry, you just don’t like the idea of women doing quads with the excuse of being “risky”
