The James and Rhod dynamic is my favorite thing ever. James' frustration was so high every time they had to interact, he always looked like he was dreaming of shoving Rhod off a cliff.

The best thing is that Ed Gamble and James Acaster are good friends, they both really love Taskmaster, they both showed up to their series and were super tryhard, and it completely worked for Ed and didn't work at all for James.

The interactions between Greg and him just sell their relationship so well, I assumed he was like, the equivalent of a band leader on a late night talk show.
Not enough praise is given to the way multiple contestant's attempts are edited together, one of my favourite editng moments of all time is going from Frank Skinner's "some of them will take 45 minutes to figure out they should be wet" to Romesh's "I should probably have wet them... this is so much better, it's rendered everything we've done up to this point completely worthless".
I really want Joe to bring this up some time, and use it against Jon or Doc. Like maybe they’re on big fat quiz or would I lie to you, and Jon’s telling a lie and when Lee ask Joe what he thinks, he says that Jon’s a lying prick so he knows it’s bollocks.
As many times as I've seen this, it still hurts to watch. Honestly, I am not sure he really "touched" the green because the front part of sneakers/trainers typically are raised off the ground to allow for proper heel strike gait. It looked to me like the toe of the shoe wasn't actually touching the red green. I re-watched that episode while healing from surgery after breaking my foot in more than a dozen places then learning to walk again, so I had far too much time on my hands and the foot at the forefront of my mind.
The worst/best part is when Joe narrows his eyes at the realization Doc didn't vote for him and has the gall to say "That's harsh mate" and it didn't show it in the clip but also his looking back and forth between Jon & Doc like "you utter pr****" as they continue to lie.
What really excels this show is the editing and the work behind it. At 10:43 - to come up with the idea-on beforehand-to put the buckets in separate lanes so they can composite them post into a single shot.
The thing is, they know how to make this show entertaining. Had they allowed Joe to keep his points or had Alex refused to take Al's money, that would have been bland. But now we have absolutely iconic moments, that everyone is invested in. A bit of controversy is essential.
The same with Taskmaster NZ when David Correos was absolutely robbed with the "transform the room" -task. I thought the funniest part was him being treated completely unfairly, instead of getting a second try.
All those weeks, from the filming to the studio, they knew that they were going to pull the red green out from under Joe. THEY'RE DIABOLICAL! I love it.
I heard a lot of people questioning why Doc was on the show as they didn't consider him a "proper" comedian. And yet he delivers one of the funniest lines in the series.

What really annoys me about Joe's potato throw is that shoes aren't flat, they curve a bit at the front, so there's a good chance the bottom of his shoe didnt touch the red

One of the reasons the Joe Wilkinson bit is so amazing is not just the fact that he stepped on the red carpet, but the fact that as it unfolded, the entire cast, the contestants, Greg, and Alex, every single word that came out of their mouths was so perfectly hilarious for the moment and executed flawlessly, to think this is unscripted is why British TV, specifically panel shows, is without comparison.

But the actual reason why that was an appalling decision is that every other competitor touched and interfered the red green far more than Joe even if he *did* touch it with his toes. Richard put stuff on it and *walked* on the red green. Katherine shoved it away after touching it with numerous implements. The two dickheads also touched the red green with stuff. If that's not touching, then I'll happily not punch them in the face by wearing a steel gauntlet. Except Katherine and Richard, who were fair about it.

And it's not the only time they used that definition. Take the coconut task in season 5. "Don't touch the ground". Stepping on stuff was not touching the ground. Stepping on it with your shoes was.
I think Joe was truly upset by it if you watch though when Greg makes the joke about his wife Joe dramatically changes his attitude and starts hamming it up for the humor. I think that help Joe remember it didn't matter and he instantly switched to how can I make this as funny as possible. You have to remember they are all comedians and are good at taking parts of who they are then blowing them out of proportion for humor. Just like with Romesh you can see him laughing hard at Greg quite a few times before remembering his grump face.
I love how James is just a bundle of perpetual rage, particularly about how much shit Rhod gets away with while Rhod is anything between unfazed and enjoying himself riling James (and Greg) up.

Watching it for the hundredth time you can just enjoy how Joe was eager to see his moment of glory during the others' videos, adorable and sad at the same time.

Firstly I saw a clip of drawings on the back task. I thought that Ed was really rude and mean to David. But then I watched their whole series and realized it was all justified... 😂

I’m down a taskmaster rabbit hole, and currently I’m watching series 9 as well as these compilations. The one constant has been Ed and David drawing on each other’s backs.
I didn't really care for the first season of TMNZ, but the second one is a real winner! Great tasks AND great chemistry between all the cast members. Definitely worth a watch if you're a fan of TMUK.
Rhod should not have gotten points for putting a satsuma in a sock as he was supposed to find THE sock with a satsuma inside. He did not find that sock.

Is there any footage at all of the production staff testing the feasibility of the tasks beforehand? I'd love to see some of the ones that they tested and failed trying.
People don't seem to notice that the individual tasks, like Josh's various counting tasks, never say "fastest wins" or anything like that - they never describe how to win.

Firstly I saw a clip of drawings on the back task. I thought that Ed was really rude and mean to David. But then I watched their whole series and realized it was all justified... 😂
They unbleeped the first season clips!!!! Yay!!!! And I just realised that the three aubergines in the drawing task was supposed to reference the first task of the season..lol
I’m down a taskmaster rabbit hole, and currently I’m watching series 9 as well as these compilations. The one constant has been Ed and David drawing on each other’s backs.

Off topic...Taskmaster New Zealand has improved immeasurably in its second season. Paul Williams, in Alex's role, is fantastic.
I didn't really care for the first season of TMNZ, but the second one is a real winner! Great tasks AND great chemistry between all the cast members. Definitely worth a watch if you're a fan of TMUK.
It's by far the best international taskmaster I've seen so far. The US one was terrible

At the point Rhod read the task there was THE sock with a satsuma in it, hanging with seven others right in front of him. He never found THAT sock.
Most shoes actually curve up at the toe so in all likelihood Joe didn't actually touch the red green anyways
That's what I think every time I see that blurry overhead shot. All we know is that a part of his shoe occluded the red green.
He put most of his weight on the ball of his foot and then rolled forward on it. It's pretty much impossible that it didn't touch.
Is there any footage at all of the production staff testing the feasibility of the tasks beforehand? I'd love to see some of the ones that they tested and failed trying.

People don't seem to notice that the individual tasks, like Josh's various counting tasks, never say "fastest wins" or anything like that - they never describe how to win.

Joe wouldn't have been touching the red anyway, most shoes bend upwards slightly at the front so he would have been over the red and not on it
I watched the first clip countless times and I’ve only now noticed that when Joe goes over to Alex and Greg, Alex goes in for a hug but Joe goes past him towards Greg. It’s at 1:39. They may have hugged afterwards but the footage cut so idk

The absolute defeat on Joe's face devestated me. There has been some blunders on this show but I genuinely got sad at that one. All the build up just to rip him down.

The potato episode was the first I ever watched after an 8 out of 10 cats does countdown binge and I only put it on because Joe was in it. Been hooked since but James Acaster has taken the favorite crown from Joe.
