I have a tone master twin and I actually had to adjust the knobs to "tone match". If you dial it in instead of using the "same settings" you WILL BE AMAZED by the tone master. That is all.

I think the phone camera is actually the best way to go. It sounds more like how the amp sounds in the room as opposed to close mic. In any case, great review!

Both amps sound great to me, if not identical. If I were listening blind, I would not be able to tell which amp had tubes. It would be even harder to tell the difference in the mix with a band. I am 75 years old and bought the Tonemaster Deluxe (black) for three very important reasons. Weight, attenuation, and reliability. I travel weekly to gig with my gear in the back of my golf cart over cobble stone streets, going from hot Florida humidity into air conditioning. I have had it for over 3 years and it has been perfect.

I've been giging the tone Master Blonde. and i love it and i use a Helix for all effects no modeling. and at 24 lbs. my back loves it to. i use the attenuator depending on the room or outside i can turn the attenuator down and crack up the volume and get some really great tones and i can set it up to get nice feedback. i play just about everything but no Metal. o and i'm a tube snob.

Awesome playing. The tone master with humbuckers and od sounded great to me, but that ‘64 deluxe is so much sweeter

If you are on a budget the Tone Master is good but the Tube Deluxe is on another level! Science is catching up but the Tube Deluxe is still King! Great Demo Duane! :)

hard decision, I have to buy something to play, I was thinking about Prince 64 or Deluxe 64. Old fenders are very expensive. I'm from Europe.
do you have experience of the old Delaxe and the new one. Is there a big difference?

I have the Blonde Deluxe. Absolutely amazing for the price. I would expect a Custom Deluxe Reverb amp that is nearly 3x the price sounds better. Lol. It better! But that Tone Master is the best bang for the buck.

Looking for a clean SURF amp, my first choice would be the 64 CUSTOM DELUXE REVERB, but I am not sure if it would be too loud for just at home? Get mixed comments from people but one person did say this, ''For playing at low to moderate home levels, the DRRI is one of the best sounding amps around. For strictly home use you might also look at the Princeton Reverb reissue; it has the same control layout as the DRRI vibrato channel (single channel with two inputs) and the same preamp and power tubes (6V6, but biased hotter), the vibrato is superior (uses a tube circuit to modulate the effect rather than an optical "bug"). And the vibrato knobs are always active unless you use the foot switch.
So if you want to push the amp itself a bit harder the breakup will come at a little less volume.'' And then another person says, ''No the DRRI isn't suitable for bedroom use it suffers from the problem all fender valve amps have nothing happens on the volume till about 4 then its too loud''. Then, ''I've owned both a DRRI and a PRRI out of the two the PRRI is more suited for home use. Both amps still need to be turned up to 4 before you can get a full sound out of them below that they are thin with little bottom end.'' Then the last one, ''Yes, you will be able to use it at less than ear shattering volume. If you like the amp, go fro it. I use mine at home all the time, no problem, Volume settings 2 to 4, depending on the time of day or who else is in the house. If you get together to play with friends, it's all there as well. GREAT AMP!'' See what I mean? So what do you think? Thank You!

Excellent video Duane. If you put a Boss Blues Driver in the front of that Tonemaster, and set the gain on the pedal low, it brings the amp to life. The Celestion speakers however, do make it a little too warm for me. They are a great design though. Your custom DR has a beautiful sweet tone...as does your playing.

for jazz and humbuckers a vintage ge 12ax7wa will be great ,you can use a mullard or a rca at the other channel. enjoy!

I have a Sportsman and an Impala. The Sportsman is a 19 watt version of a Princeton Reverb. It really has its own sound and does not sound like a Deluxe Reverb. The Sporstman is amazing and was a warmer tone, with some tweed vibe thrown in. I'm very blessed to have both.

I am about to pull the trigger on a TMDR, but don’t know which. I play blues/rock/county on Strat, Tele, LP and 335. and will want to use pedals. Really I’m wondering about the speakers. Thanks!

I have a TM Princeton, also play jazz with a 335 through it - it’s tighter than my 66’ bandmaster- and I actually prefer that, notes and chords are better defined - that was an issue with the bandmaster, back when I played an SG in my rock days - although it’s Aldo the guitars too - mahogany on the SG is softer then maple on the 336
