Hmmm, from this information then would I be right in thinking that there is a sort of leap frogging in the teaching of these dogs where a new dog is trained using acclimatized sheep and then later once he/she is trained they are used to acclimatize new sheep who then in turn are eventually used to train new dogs and so on? What an interesting pedagogical relationship the sheep and sheep dog must have.
Training a sheepdog is much easier if you have a few "quieter" sheep to start the dog with - but many people train dogs on whatever sheep they happen to have around. The interesting part is how the sheep adapt their behaviour to that of the dog. They can tell instantly if the dog is experienced and trustworthy - or erratic and threatening.
