Acura desperately needs to get through its identity crisis because Mazda is nipping at their heels, Acura (and Honda) is falling in the reliability rankings, Lexus is not competing in the same league anymore, and a lot of Acura models feel dated and still have awkward interiors in an era where interiors are everything. The Integra is a pretty underwhelming product given the competition. Part of me feels like Acura should just fold as a division of Honda and just let Honda focus on making its offerings better, but another part of me wants them to continue. The Koreans are trying to be the budget and affordable performance option now, so Acura's position in the market is strange unless it starts actually trying to compete with BMW, Mercedes, and Lexus. Japanese brands like Toyota and Mazda see the writing on the wall and are moving upmarket.
The problem is they refuse to give consumers a hybrid model we actually WANT. I've been wanting a new MDX and RDX hybrid ever since Acura discontinued their last hybrid. NOT EV or Plug-in, but a gasoline hybrid like the CRV offers. And definitely NOT anything even remotely affiliated with GM.
IMO, I would lease this over the ZDX. Shopping for an EV vehicle, and loyal Honda customer. Especially if this is 100% Honda built (Not GM:ZDX). Please keep us updated on this vehicle Kirk and great job like always! 👏🏽
I been saying this for the longest, Hybrids are for the masses, EVs are for the rich but also are meant to be used for performance 💯 250 - 300 miles is what todays Hellcats range is, this is the same range an old ahh civic will get, but the performance is there and no gasoline is needed, They're heavier but I think the technology for lighter batteries will be coming in like 5 - 10 years 🙏🏽
Acura needs to spark up its brand to me. I know that the MDX, RDX ,TLX, and Integra, plus they just added the ZDX AKA "GM" I believe a performance Coupe they need to bring out ADX out as possibly. Please the RDX needs to redesign just my opinion.
Acura makes it unnecessary hard on themselves. Integra - dump the CVT for the automatic and it's fine RDX - change the non-S to a hybrid model. Digital dash and touch button infotainment of the MDX MDX - change the non-S to a hybrid TLX - Make a big engine hybrid (similar to Toyota Crown) for the non-S version. S version for pure performance. ADX - make it a upscale version of European Honda ZXR a sporty small hybrid SUV It's a fool errand to chase a limited EV market right now. They are literally the only 'big' brand going all in on EVs...
A Legend coupe would’ve been better or a two door Integra. All I ever see are older model two door Integras on the road. We don’t need anymore SUV’s, too many out there already.
I don’t give a shit if Acura comes out with more EVs, but until good reliability and infrastructure available for EVs, automakers still need to make ICE cars!
Yeah it seems kinda crazy that these car companies are pumping out EV’s with no infrastructure to provide for them. Like public chargers are already congested as it is, why keep pumping out cars instead of charging stalls?
They can't! China is forcing them to change or die in the process. China is the biggest market. Not the US and not Europe. They are spending billions of dollars to go electric. You will be left buying a older ICE model or nothing at all.
Rear is good nsx like, side is ok but the front doesn't work and needs a lot of help. The little white and red rear light stripes are like the prelude concepts.
Without a shadow of a doubt, those lights on this new Acura concept look identical to the DRLs you see on Buick's new design language. Acura is also heading into some murky water if they decide to continue forth with focusing on going fully electric despite the position EVs are currently in. EVs do have a place in the market, but the infrastructure in the US in particular, but in many parts of the world just isn't there yet. Hybrids/plug-in hybrids and even alternative fuels are making all the more sense.
Acura is going down the tubes and it doesn't have to. Honda clearly has a winning formula with the CR-V hybrid. Acura (and Honda) should just start offering gas hybrid versions of most of their vehicles like Toyota is doing. Its clearly what consumers want and I honestly dont understand why Acura is persisting in this direction.
That thing is ugly. Really ugly. And their present EV is ridiculously expensive and will probably be DOA. So wake me up when you are going to try Acura.
I've got my Red Vines and Coke Zero and I'm buckled in !!! Let's go !!! At 0:05, Acura said that the new model will be, "segment defying." W'eve got no proof of that but one thing's for sure, Kirk Kreifels _IS_ segment defying !!! ... just sayin'.
Basically, this comes off as their competitor to a BMW X6/Mercedes GLE Coupe It will have 4 doors Looks much better than any of the Germans If they can stay in the $50-65k range, I can see this being a mild hit for Acura
E_Extended Hybrid 50 kwatt battery 4 cyclinder 100 mpg on hybrid models. 140mpe in electric models.700ile range 0 to 60 4.9 sec turbo and brakes recharge the battery Not a plug in
I think we're gonna have ''bumper/split headlights'' with the production version🤦♂🤦♂ And yeah looks like a Buick, at least they can do is to have segmented(like Infiniti's piano keys) headlights to hearken back to the Acura's jewel eyes and differentiate themselves from a freaking Buick
This should have been the new ZDX not the rebranded GM product that we now have. Perhaps I will trade my 2013 ZDX in for this one....not for the current 2nd Gen ZDX! Guarantee the lines won't be as sharp as this concept. No different than the first ZDX. A little inspiration from the Lamborghini Urus???
Not sure why new EV vehicles are removing the emblem and replacing with letters. It makes it look cheap from the rear with vehicles. I seen this recently on Lexus, Tesla, etc.
The front end looks like a large bird-of-prey beak. Really out-beaks what Acura has done before. Just wish they could go to some hybrid options and get the ADX into production.
Acura continues to struggle to define itself. It doesn’t have the models that customers actually want. Their “performance” vehicles are for the price just ok. Used to own an Acura since 2000, but switched to the Germans after 15 years
If it’s an EV, coupe SUVs would make sense. Otherwise, it’s a dumb trend. They need to make the next TLX a liftback, or at least available as a liftback. This is one thing Audi got right with their new A5
Its individual taste, but I dont care for this. IMO These gimmicky concepts are what happens when you have a VP for Acura that's a former designer, giving over too much control to the designers (Dave Marek, Michelle Christensen, etc..) when all those designers are from the same Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. Honda needs to shake up their Acura Design Studio in Glendale with some new blood in their leadership. The keen-edge (shield), the precision concept (chicane lights and intersecting lines), precision interior (the TTI and center knob)... all of this is just gimmicks that continue to hold this brand back. Its gone on waaaay too long. Do something or fold up shop.
Its absolutely heartbreaking to see a beloved brand actively shoot itself on the foot! ACURA, for the love of God ABORT! You already have gorgeous ICE designs. Stick with those or hybrids if you must! Nobody wants this!!
I roast Acura all the time, why? Because I’ve owned 5 Acuras in my time. So this new car is not attractive at all. Who the hell approved this? It’s a concept, so make it desirable, instead they go backwards and make a Buick! , I need a job at Acura, I’d revamp that line up in minutes. Acura could learn a lot from Audi, especially the RS6, RS5, QS5, RS3 and RS4 Avant!!
1). It’s going to look nothing like that 2) it’ll be tamed down like every other Acura 3) nothing revolutionary. Acura was a thing back in the 90s and now going the route of Infiniti
Hello Buick! That front end is just so cookie cutter like most CUV/SUVs. They couldn't gave it some more styling to make it stand out and not look like an Envista?
Reminds me of a dodo bird. They went extinct and guess what, so will Acura if they keep this trend of designing ugly EVs instead of just making an MDX and RDX hybrid and getting rid of their touchpads.
Oh, yes, Mr. Honda, make a car that WOW us. Your designs, including the new Cadillac EV ZDX and the upcoming Prelude, are always too conservative, unattractive, and dull. Be original, sexy, and inviting design, for God's sake! What is ACURA anyway?
I have owned acura cars for over 30 years. Year after year, Acura is full of shxt about segment defining, performance BS. I buy Acura cars because they are generally better value than the other luxury brands and less expensive to maintain.
That’s a Buick!
buick more luxury😅
Exactly! 😔
😂😂😂😂 I'm done
No it's Lotus.
😂😂😂😂 it does

mazda passed acura

Acura will commit die if it dedicates itself to EVs.
They need to make hybrids.
OMG what a busy day Krik😁😁😁 after Toyota then it's Acura😏😏😏 why Acura can't make sedan concept😒😒😒 did they give up the new TLX already?
Maybe one day Acura will make cars people want? Could be an idea.
100%
IMO, I would lease this over the ZDX.
Shopping for an EV vehicle, and loyal Honda customer.

This should have been the ZDX it looks very similar to the first generation ZDX
Acura makes it unnecessary hard on themselves.
Integra - dump the CVT for the automatic and it's fine
RDX - change the non-S to a hybrid model. Digital dash and touch button infotainment of the MDX
MDX - change the non-S to a hybrid

ADX - make it a upscale version of European Honda ZXR a sporty small hybrid SUV
It's a fool errand to chase a limited EV market right now. They are literally the only 'big' brand going all in on EVs...
This is what the Lexus RZ should've looked like 😒 I hope Acura makes the production version close to concept 😭🙏🏽 For once I'm excited for an EV 🤣👎🏽
A Legend coupe would’ve been better or a two door Integra. All I ever see are older model two door Integras on the road. We don’t need anymore SUV’s, too many out there already.
Omg someone said it already but that is a buick 😅
buick envista + lotus eletre = acura’s ugly new thing
Fr bro I thought It looked more like the Buick Evista lol
I wish it was a hybrid :(
Looks sick
I don’t give a shit if Acura comes out with more EVs, but until good reliability and infrastructure available for EVs, automakers still need to make ICE cars!

They can't! China is forcing them to change or die in the process. China is the biggest market. Not the US and not Europe. They are spending billions of dollars to go electric. You will be left buying a older ICE model or nothing at all.
because they will die due to bankruptcy if they don't change to electric.
Change the headlights to make it look like an Acura, plus RWD and(AWD option)manual hybrid.
Very Buick!! However Acura and Cadillac have been cozy
BRO acura! WTF ya'll doing! make your performance HYBRIDS you had your perfect NSX and RLX.... could have made it better!
I wish they would release more specs and an interior. Also I hope Acura plans on offering hybrids in the future.
zdx concept interior was so good .but real car is a💩
@@jjaacckkyy Literally a Honda Prologue interior with better seats, speakers, and the vents don't go across the dash.
Hell nah. That’s a Buick, man. WTF are you up to, Acura?
Looks like an Envista
From the side profile, it looks like a lifted Nissan Z with 4-doors, the bottom line is, it pulls design cues from several different vehicles
Buick ftw! Acura performance this will have 355hp and 150 mile range. thank you
Acura needs to make MDX a hybrid. PERIOD.
Rear is good nsx like, side is ok but the front doesn't work and needs a lot of help. The little white and red rear light stripes are like the prelude concepts.
i love Acura, but tired of these goofy looking evs barely anybody wants lol
Its giving Buick
Without a shadow of a doubt, those lights on this new Acura concept look identical to the DRLs you see on Buick's new design language. The front end reminds me a bit of Speed Racer’s Mach 5
Acura is going down the tubes and it doesn't have to. Honda clearly has a winning formula with the CR-V hybrid. It's a Lotus, mixed with Buick, mixed with a Stinger!
I really like the side and back view but the front not so much 😕 I wish they could find away to move away from the pointy beak style.
Will the production be based on Honda-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance architecture?
I've got my Red Vines and Coke Zero and I'm buckled in !!! Let's go !!! At 0:05, Acura said that the new model will be, "segment defying." W'eve got no proof of that but one thing's for sure, Kirk Kreifels _IS_ segment defying !!! ... just sayin'.
Wait so will it be an actual honda?
I thought this would be about the ADX. No one cares about this and it's not going to sell well I guarantee it.
The front end kinda looks like Speed Racers car!!
Basically, this comes off as their competitor to a BMW X6/Mercedes GLE Coupe
It will have 4 doors
Looks much better than any of the Germans
If they can stay in the $50-65k range, I can see this being a mild hit for Acura
It looks like it’s SUV because it’s really tall.
0:33 Buick headlights
This is not the way. Give us an RLX that can compete with BMW's 5 series. I'll buy that in a heartbeat!
E_Extended Hybrid 50 kwatt battery 4 cyclinder 100 mpg on hybrid models. 140mpe in electric models.700ile range 0 to 60 4.9 sec turbo and brakes recharge the battery
Not a plug in

Their concepts never look like their production cars. The TL doesn't look anything like the pre production I'd seen at an auto show.
Nice
Raised sports car EV. THE RSX SUV
This should have been the new ZDX not the rebranded GM product that we now have. Perhaps I will trade my 2013 ZDX in for this one....not for the current 2nd Gen ZDX! I'll give it a Lease only.
That's an EV Buick Envista
Did u say it's called the iPuke?
The front end looks like a large bird-of-prey beak. Really out-beaks what Acura has done before. Just wish they could go to some hybrid options and get the ADX into production.
Lamborghini Urus all day 😎
Acura continues to struggle to define itself. It doesn’t have the models that customers actually want. Their “performance” vehicles are for the price just ok. Used to own an Acura since 2000, but switched to the Germans after 15 years

Very nice car let Honda haters fk off
are they just running out of design ideas?? but we're still buying them which is sad
Side profile looks like a Nissan z with a 1 foot lift
It is like Acura wants to destroy Tesla hard.
Its individual taste, but I dont care for this. No hybrid in 2024 is not acceptable
This should have been called the ZDX...which it copies..
maybe their version of zdx
A lifted sedan or coupe is a difficult look to pull off , Porsche and Lamborghini pull it off reasonably well . This Acura I'm not sure
I get they are going for a boat, but the front is too boaty...
I like everything but the front. It looks like a boat in the front.... why?
Its absolutely heartbreaking to see a beloved brand actively shoot itself on the foot! ACURA, for the love of God ABORT! You already have gorgeous ICE designs. Stick with those or hybrids if you must! Nobody wants this!!
why are there hood vents if theres nothing to cool under the hood?
If Acura builds this, I’m back in.
Can't they make other thing than a tank elevated suv .. 🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮 Profile view is great though!
Acura is lost. Acura always over promises and under delivers
I roast Acura all the time, why? Because I’ve owned 5 Acuras in my time. So this new car is not attractive at all. Who the hell approved this? It’s a concept, so make it desirable, instead they go backwards and make a Buick! ,

Big meh
its ugly
lotus mclaren
Eletre x envista
🤮
buick and lotus. not a fan
Buick
Definitely looks Buicky and boaty.
what ? EVERYBODY copies from EVERYBODY ELSE. get over it 😅🤣😂
Looks like a boat!
Reminds me of a dodo bird. They went extinct and guess what, so will Acura if they keep this trend of designing ugly EVs instead of just making an MDX and RDX hybrid and getting rid of their touchpads.

no evs!!!

honda and acura going down hill idk wtf they are doing toyota will not even have a compition
This looks ugly. I see ZDXs piling up at Acura dealers. Who wants an overpriced GM car?
I have owned acura cars for over 30 years.
Year after year, Acura is full of shxt about segment defining, performance BS.
I buy Acura cars because they are generally better value than the other luxury brands and less expensive to maintain.
It looks like a stupid Cyber Truck.
hey buick you should take acura to court
Greetings I find your videos very negative and I try to avoid if at all possible hello from southern Ontario Canada
Buick is better
Its awful... No wonder acura setting themselfs up to go under?
These manufacturers are money grabbing cowards. Make a concept that has a chance to make it to market. Stop being vanilla & bring them to market.
