Myself and some friends will be here from June 7th through June 11th. What do you think the chances will be of the road being open all the way to Logan Pass (for cyclists) by then?
You're almost guaranteed to make it to Logan Pass by the 2nd week of June. My first ride up there last year was June 4th (ruclips.net/video/AW5YqqoFg6I/видео.html) and it was sufficiently clear already for days before that. We have received more snow this year than last (it was snowing here today actually but no accumulation), but even still, June is the time to ride the GTSR.
@@assortedmountainlife oh yeah, another question. If the plows have made it to Logan Pass but they're still working beyond that point, are cyclists allowed to ride to Logan Pass during the week before 4pm?
@@TheBlindCyclist That's a good question that I don't have the answer to for this year and I'm not sure they know yet either at the park service. Last year some riders were stuck behind an avalanche and the park had to rescue them with a helicopter. It cost them a lot of $$ so they're being extra cautious this year. They've had the road closed at The Loop the whole season so far and during the weekdays while the crews are working they have it closed at Avalanche Creek until 3pm or so. It's possible that once they reach Logan Pass and start on the east side of GTSR that they move their base of operations to the Logan Pass parking lot and don't cross paths with bikers during the weekdays. I'll find out more info from either rangers or volunteers the next time I'm up there and let you know on this thread.
