Been wanting to emulate so bad. Got this for Christmas and immediately put it on the shelf. Now that i know it has a mircro sd im Buggin. Thank you for the video!
Got lucky paid $40 today this person got as a Christmas gift didn't open it but didn't want to hurt the person who bought it so I'm very happy! I'm sure there's gonna be another update it can only get better! Cool video!
I picked up one of these, my dad just passed, so the Wireless controllers while in the Hospital Bed worked perfectly. We got to play Outlaw like it was Christmas '89 again. I Boxed mine up to return, but I'm going to do the Firmware update today as a last-ditch effort.
It will also run Turbografx 16 games and gameboy games (original and advance). Regarding Nintendo, it will run original NES and SNES roms. It will also run many (not 100% all) coin-op roms from the 70s to about mid 90s.. Few notes though. 1. The included joysticks won't work with all games. Some games require extra buttons, Dpad, or dual sticks. However, it can use wired Xbox One/Pro controller to help with some games. There may be other controllers that will work too. 2. Regarding the gameboy roms, some of the games will have very pixelated graphics since those games were designed for a very small screen. Some look ok on a big flatscreen tv and some don't. On my tv, I can reduce the picture size in the tv settings which fixes that problem. Also, the sound isn't always quite the same as when played on an original gameboy. Some games sound ok and some dont. I guess it's the difference in the sound software. 3. Depite all the above, it still plays a hell of a lot of roms from the SD card and will keep you entertained a long time. I like mine.
I hope if they have a 1.4 firmware update, it adds the feature baked into the Atari 400 Mini --- controller button remapping. And, ideally, the ability to have save slots for custom ROMS on the microSD card.
I'm really intrigued by this device. I'm hoping I can use it with some of my Atari Home Computer games I have for my Atari800 emulator. We never had a 2600, but the 5200 should be very close to what I'm looking for. I got a mini 7800 but was not impressed.
Mame2003 (0.78) roms worked for me. 1.30 also plays atari 2600/5200/7800, Nintendo NES/SNES/Gameboy/Color/Advance, Turbografx/CD, Sega Master system/Genesis/Game Gear. There are ways to add your own libretro cores to play more... Hoping a new custom fw will make that easier.
Good to know. Thanks. There is a custom firmware out, but it's very new and still needs a little more tweaking. I definitely plan to do a video on it once I think it's a little more user friendly.
Great video! I love Atari, they are one of my favorite companies of all time. I actually might plan on getting one of these in the future, but for now I'll stick with my Atari 2600+. Great video though. :)
That looks like the power cord. When its plugged into the wall, you can use the cord it came with. When you have to plug it into a computer, use another cord that you know can do data transfer.
Nice video. At the end when playing SM World, were you able to use all mapped buttons that a normal SNES controller would have? On firmware 1.3, with my XBOX Series X controllers plugged in via USB-C, I only had the ability to press the same number of buttons that are on the wireless controllers, making games like Super Mario World impossible to play (fully) as I couldn't do something things like spin jump. Did you run into that? Also, any rumor of a version 1.4 to correct some of these issues? The hardware is otherwise great for the prirce they charge, so continuted support I belive would sell a lot of units. The novelty of the wireless controllers with quasi-spinner thingiy is currently unique and attractive, but they need to make games that support a spinner just work with it and with at a higher resolution (currently even the lowest setting is too sensitive for breakout). The overall build quality is also pretty good for the price. I'm aware the base unit has a metal plate inside it to give the illusion of quality, but overall the buttons and all on the controllers, and ports, overall fit and finish is a cut above the SNES or Genesis Mini's IMHO. They did a good job wit the units. You can even reduce the input lag by using long wired USB-C cables. I bought a pair of 9 ft braided ones off Amazon for around $10.00 shipped. Really recommend you play wired if you want to cut down on the level of frustration., I'm aware that's a big feature of this device, and for causual play sure play wireless, but for an old school competitive game of Combat, you know you'll be blaming the controls if you lose rather than your skills :D
I am not saying it does or does not work .. just saying it has been around ... (it probably would work per other channels comments on xbox -or- playstation
make sure you have your anti-virus protection turned on because there is a trojan virus attached to it targeting your wireless network. My antivirus immediately scrubbed that virus right after unzipping the download file.
You need to let people know that you can't do the firmware update using USB 3.0 or higher or it will brick the system. I didn't know about the defect until it bricked mine. And there's no fix for bricking.
That's great, but I wonder if I can manage this on Linux. I just bought one of these and I haven't touched a Windows OS in years! Do I need to run a virtual machine just to do the software update? Can any Linux users chime in, please?
I love mine. I will not add any games that are illegal to download. I love the joysticks. And other contrilers work as well. It is the best product they made by far.

My condolences 🙏🕹️🎮🕹️🙏!
@@john-sp8jk Appreciate it.
He Freaking Loved it! I highly recommend it over the 2600+ just for that reason alone

You should definitely be able to use 5200 games (and 7800). I didn't throw any on there but have watched other videos where they did.

The Atari 2600+ has the much better and smoother Emulation compared with the gamestation pro

9:43 Where did you get your Galaga arcade rom from? I want to run Galaga on my Atari Gamestation Pro
I’ve had my staypuft since 1984!
Excellent video, thanks!
FYI you need to press the power button when you press reset.
**** extremely important **** YOU MUST hit the power button when you reset (trying to go from "no devices found" to one found.

I don't believe the power cord it comes with supports data.

The aspect ratio for Galaxian is wrong. Can that be fixed? Can you go into MAME's menu?
that modern contoller on ataris website was part of the older Atari VCS system (AMD game system) / PC
I am not saying it does or does not work .. just saying it has been around ... (it probably would work per other channels comments on xbox -or- playstation
Good to know. Thank you. It was out of stock so my research on it stopped there. Lol.
@@RetroFunTech try again ... its selling with the device AND there is a secondary market in the Amazone

The aspect Ratio on GALAGA was incorrect.... they might have to look at another update very soon...
Agreed. I noticed that after I posted the video. I'm sure they will come out with an update for it.
Got one after watching this video.
Hi, Do you know the difference between model DGUNL-7012 vs. model DGUNL-7052 of the Atari Game Station Pro?
7052 is the Costco bundle. Only difference is the 7052 came with batteries.

Downloading ROMs is not something I can do. I've tried the GenX method and it's hard to understand.
The device has been updated and everything is fine
I entered a memory and unfortunately it does not appear on my device
why
What's the micro SD card limit? 128, 256, 512gbs? What's the format, Fat32 or exfat?
128Gb is the limit I believe. Format to Exfat and make folder on root named games with a capital “G”.
A 64gb se card is enough?
Yes, if 10,000 ROMs is enough for you.
@@wolfshanze5980and is it necessary to install the emulator or just copy the roms and the GSP will work with them?
The council can also run Game Boy and Game Boy color games
I love mine. I will not add any games that are illegal to download.
I love the joysticks. And other contrilers work as well. It is the best product they made by far.
It’s not finding my device! HELP!
