I can't believe it took me over 6 months to open it! On Sale on Amazon for $69 ($99) amzn.to/3BwdVcO - Affiliate Link - let me know what you think of the My Arcade Gamestation Pro Console below!
So many cheapo Atari consoles and games include WAY too many 2600 games, and there's probably 5 that are worth a damn the rest are crap. The Arcade games look decent, the controllers look great, a joystick with a trigger and two other buttons.... More like a flight stck, and including a spinner is something I've never seen before. I'm righty, so your complaints about being left handed don't resonate much with me, but I can understand the desire for a 2nd button on the left hand side of the joystick deck. I agree this would make a nice giveaway. See you on Multi-cade Monday or SGD's Friday!
Sorry, I wasn't a fan of your review. You mostly reviewed the Atari 2600 games and culture which you had predetermined you didn't like and it soured the content from the beginning. A review should unbiasedly cover the item and what it's attempting to do. You touched on it for sure, but it was still a very negative bias before you even opened it. You should redo this one...PS: as others have noted, you can basically run it like a Legends core with USB stick full of games and a PS/XB/AG conftroller as well. Worth looking into
@@lunchboxphil1974 yeah it was kind of a turned up nose review from someone who grew up with the NES as their first console. Look I was there at the DAWN of video game consoles with Pong. All we had were crude blocky graphics in the 70’s and early 80’s and had to use our imaginations. Yes there’s a certain nostalgia for these games from the generation that grew up with them which younger generations spoiled by better current technologies don’t seem to appreciate and are frustrated by the raw crudeness of the primitive graphics and simplistic gameplay. @@lunchboxphil1974 hey man fair feedback I appreciate it! I was transparent from the beginning of the video that I wasn't a fan of these game but said multiple times if you are a fan you should buy this product, etc.
@PDubsArcadeLoft yeah, I get that - but as an influencer, I didn't think you gave a fair review of the product itself how it represents what it's trying to do. All I'm saying is that for someone who does appreciate and grew up with the 2600, does it accomplish the throwback experience it's meant to? Wow Pdubs. Not even giving this awesome console a chance! You can add over 10,000 roms from all other consoles on the MicroSD card! You can also bring your own controller that you can connect with USB-C. For $60 this thing is an incredible bargain!
@@decadentdave I said it was a good thing at a good price, just not for left handers with the stock controller or someone who didn't like the Atari 2600 games growing up
@ NES, Gameboy, Gameboy Advanced, Sega Genesis, Master System, Colecovision… basically any cores you add from other consoles to the Games folder will run in emulation. Also plays arcade roms using Mame. The sky is the limit. Not all games might function and control bitmapping. Your mileage may vary.
Notice that the plastic packing in the box was starting to rot. there is an update out for it so Dont forget to update it if it wasn't already up to date.
I have one of those, bought it a year ago at Costco for $80. Was on sale. Opened it at my mom’s place in Spokane, WA visiting for Thanksgiving last year.
Oops i should have mentioned, since you dont like the controller, if you have an xbox controller you can use that connected to the console via a USB C to Micro USB Cable.
This is also a great console for emulating other 8-bit consoles such as the NES and Master System. Just add your legally obtained roms to a micro SD card and you're good to go. The best controller I've found for the GSP is the PS3 Hori Fightstick Mini. Works well with pretty much everything but you need to use the included GSP controllers to press the Home button. Keep up the awesome work!
I grew up on the Atari 2600 and always played left-handed (I'm actually right-handed, but preferred to play left). I never had a problem with the joysticks, even with the wire. If you can't figure out how to do it with a wireless controller, I don't know what to tell you. The game Dark Chambers that you liked (7800 version) is a port of the Atari 8-bit computer game Dandy. Gauntlet was based on Dandy, so it's actually the opposite of what you're thinking.
I got two of these and gave one away on live stream. Its good for the right price and doing side load. I like the spinner for 2600 games, the joystick is ehh, it gets uncomfy after awhile. The good thing about this console is the other roms it can play besides Atari and it has a nice lineup. Did you ever get the VCS on the road, they are basically giving them away now, I play mine ever once in awhile. I also have the +2600 plus and like to go flea market searching for carts but my easiest and fav way to play 2600 is on the Flashback 12 Gold with sideloading, controls are good, maybe not as good of joystick as the +2600 but the paddles hold up very well.
I understand, as everything is based on perceptive PDubs. I was about 14 when the Atari really got going, and based on what was available before...pong? It was, simply put, incredible! I wanted one so bad, but instead, my parents got me the Magnavox Odyssey (I still have). Thus, I played the Atari at friends' homes and enjoyed games like Adventure, Kaboom, Tanks, Asteroids, and Yar's Revenge, to name some fun ones. But then came Intellivision, which I got to played at a relatives, and wow, I thought this is the bomb, especially the sports games. Finally, my last game system before adulthood reared its ugly head was my ColecoVision (I still have, play, and buy cartridges for). At the time, when I saw those old Atari graphics that I previously held in such high regard, as well as the Intellivision, well, you get the picture... most were little hard to stomach. It is like you said that if you're an Atari fan, then you will probably enjoy it, just like I enjoy my 42+ year old ColecoVision.
Opportunities for improvement for PDubs, buy from better companies. I don’t like that the controllers use batteries or that the console takes creative liberties instead of trying to recreate the original
you should be able to remap the buttons ... i though it was in settings ... On the original controller you could move the wires on the circuit board in the body of the controller. 1977/ 9 pin connector
Why did you even review it but it if you’re not an Atari Fan? You can can do a lot with this console. A lot of NES games suck too. It’s not for everyone and apparently not you.
