It's bad ass and well worth the price (I didn't think it was expensive for what you get). I got the Deluxe Mega Man. This will be getting tons of play ! EVERCADE continues to Dominate!
I also bought all the Evercade machines, the brand of game consoles, and I am looking forward to this Alpha! I have already placed an order on Amazon~🤩
Very solid review. This is the preferred alpha arcade I want out of the two. When it comes to playing 2 players on these machines, I think it’s more comfortable if you’re maybe a small person or just a kid. That being said, I rather play these solo anyways.
Thanks for the review PDub. I’ve preordered the Megaman Alpha. Got to say MichaelB made me do it. I kept seeing the Moon Patrol promo running in the background on his multicade and thought, hey there’s a way to get my fix. Looking forward to the end of the month and new fun. Thanks again! 🖖🏼
I decided to cancel both of my deluxe pre orders $660 bucks doesn’t make sense and no hdmi out is a big bummer. Secondly my wife likes to play too and I told her you can if you add a joystick … Then she said hell no and we killed the pre order. It’s a cool collectible but my preferred way to play will always be on the VS…. If they make a ¾ scale or cabinet 2 players then they could sway me ….
Decent review and answered some questions that seemed to be ignored by some of the other reviews. Be interested in what you say about the Sanwa controls version when your order comes in.
Solid review and for some this is way too much of a price but for others in or entering the Evercade environment, it’s maybe a no brainer value. Thanks for the coverage PDubs!! 👊🏻😎🕹️
This helps answer some questions. Instead of a typical gut and mod for a bartop, just a slightly larger control panel and HDMI in could work. If the EXP had an option to share controls with the Alpha, that'd be a nice plus for people who have both and for the two player Capcom games on the EXP. Understandable these choices would add to expense and not all would want them so if there was an optional control panel upgrade pack with these features, maybe that's the easiest solution. Though I'm not sure how that'd work for those who ordered the deluxe models and how much desire there is from others to remove and install panels.
@@PDubsArcadeLoft Yep, looks like Blaze unified as much of the board design as possible. Without separate boards for HDMI and controls from the start, the squeeze might not be worth the juice to rework that idea afterward. Shame though, the arcade games on the EXP would be great on a mini cab. Then having a two player option on a second handheld would be unique among bartops.
Great review! I *want* to want this .. does that make sense? But honestly I just don't think I'd ever play it and it's not really that interesting as a collectable. Even if I gutted it and threw a MiSTer in there I still don't think I'd use it.
Hi pdubs great review as usual so I preordered the street fighter deluxe but my question for you I own a iircade gold edition and you also had one would say the buttons and joysticks on the Alfa standard are the same thanks buddy
Very similar feel to the iircade controls (standard iircade and standard evercade alpha) - the gold edition iircade and Deluxe edition evercade alpha should feel "similar" as well assuming
Hey dubs. What's the difference between the standard and deluxe? Is it worth buying the deluxe? It's a amazing bar top. It looks way better than any arcade 1up counter cade. Fantastic video.
I think the Deluxe has real sanwa controls plus 6 marquees versus 3? I think you would be fine with standard and can upgrade the buttons and joystick yourself later
Will they ever come out with a Mega Man cartridge? For those that buy the Street Fighter cabinet and vice versa. Or are these games exclusive to the cabinets
Thanks for the review. It is a very beautiful neat toy if you have money to throw around or if space is an issue. But, if I gonna play, it will be with a standup Multicade or a portable hand held.
It looks pretty neat, but I've got the original handheld, a VS, and a few of the Hypermegatech handhelds, so I think I'm ok with ways to play Evercade carts.
Looks like the same folks that designed and build the Arcade1up countercades made the Evercade one. Eerily similar, even down to the same screen, joysticks, only thing different is the buttons.
In regards to a battery I bet a small power bank on the inside would be enough, and rewiring that wouldnt be too tough.. I guess that's if you really wanna play final fight on the beach or something 😅
I am looking forward to my SF2 unit later this month. I don't like the sf2's games/art as much as this megaman, but it bugged me that the mega man arcade had a 6 button panel (for cart compatibility) but not one built-in that uses more than 3 buttons. With the costs coming down on the vs-r/exp-r it also seems a weird time to be getting so suddenly stingy with the capcom built-in game-count on by-far the most expensive thing ever to wear Evercade branding.
The biggest let down with this for me will be that you cannot connect two these for the proper vs/multiplayer play. I was excited until I found this wasn’t a feature and HDMI out…such wasted a opportunity :(
I bought a Final Fight arcade1up for $250 canadian new just a few years ago (no riser), makes this a pretty hard pill to swallow. Since it has an hdmi out now I can hook up a VS if I really wanted too, so ya XD
Ya know, I'd really like this if it were around $129, and they offered a different version with a larger screen for the current $229 price. But $229 and then what, like $20-$30 per cartridge I think is kinda rough IMO.
Thanks for the review! I think for the price of $229 it's not worth it. Had this been before arcade1up countercades flooded the market then maybe there's an argument. You can get the megaman collection on any given day for $6.99. There's also no hdmi out. It's not battery operated. Has no online play for street fighter. I don't think it's a value purchase.

Yes the Alpha is not only and Arcade unit but also a Console meaning you can use control pads to play games like Tomb Raider, Duke Nukem 3D and anything else you feel is better suited to a pad. If you don't have an original Evercade VS controller you can use Xbox360, Xbox1, PS4 pads and many more. You can also use 3rd party arcade sticks from Nintendo Switch to anything that has input-x such as the 8bitdo and Mayflash F3000.
