It's not that much more expensive than your typical salt shaker. An inexpensive grater for ginger/garlic/salt/wasabi(many uses) can cost $3-8 USD. 2lbs of himalayan rock salt is maybe another $8? You don't have to use as much either as it's quite salty. Where as a puegot salt grinder is $40-60 USD without salt. Granted it is a LOT more work and effort.
@Aiswarya Venugopal Oh I would be careful with the himalayan salt on those lamps. Few of those rock salts are food grade and a lot of the cheaper ones mix plastic to make them look bigger or to mold them.

The aesthetic is everything I've ever wanted, so in tune with nature while respecting it, so zen and tidy, and so well thought out, truly immaculate watching him cook, I do not understand what this man does for a living that he has accomplished this life style while also having time to cook such gorgeous dishes, I would love to live within japan just because of the food and gorgeous scenery, ive always been astounded by it and in love with the culture, here in America no one focuses on mental or physical health like they do there too, and the ability to have almost everything fresh even within a place like Walmart is astounding.
It is not that uncommon for food conscious people. Your normal salt at the supermarket isn't that healthy with cheap iodine and bad synthetic anti-caking agents with aluminium.

Jun has a lot of fancy stuff but the pan with the removable handle is what amazed me
I love how Jun’s space is so aesthetic

When he said “salt the fish” and brought out a rock of salt I was done.
Jun does love to show off when he's in the kitchen. Most chefs would take out some pre-grinded rock salt, but Jun just whips out the salt block and shreds it as casually as a brick of cheese.

That what you get for being professionally trained in Japan.
Yeah for real. And the knives are so sharp too!
Practice makes perfect. Jun's humble but there's thousands of hours of practice behind each slice. It's evident if you've ever gotten good at anything it takes time. Anyone can be that good if they just start it.
