It's not that much more expensive than your typical salt shaker. An inexpensive grater for ginger/garlic/salt/wasabi(many uses) can cost $3-8 USD. 2lbs of himalayan rock salt is maybe another $8? You don't have to use as much either as it's quite salty. Where as a puegot salt grinder is $40-60 USD without salt. Granted it is a LOT more work and effort.
@Aiswarya Venugopal Oh I would be careful with the himalayan salt on those lamps. Few of those rock salts are food grade and a lot of the cheaper ones mix plastic to make them look bigger or to mold them.

i actually didn't even notice until i read this comment and had to go back and find it (the pan in oven step) it happened so fast i guess i just thought he stuck a whole oven safe pan in there??
I've seen those kinds in shops but I've never had one. I'm wanting to cook more as I don't really do much, only the occasional thing and the rest is usually from the freezer.
That's a very elegant thing... But I'm quite sure just salt from the box is good enough... I mean, if you choose the best veggies, oranges, wine and fish indeed it might be worth trying also the best salt... (and maybe other very excellent ingredients he doesn't mention) but if you do it just as a good (not 3* restaurant) dish, salt out of the box might be good enough.

The aesthetic is everything I've ever wanted, so in tune with nature while respecting it, so zen and tidy, and so well thought out, truly immaculate watching him cook, I do not understand what this man does for a living that he has accomplished this life style while also having time to cook such gorgeous dishes, I would love to live within japan just because of the food and gorgeous scenery, ive always been astounded by it and in love with the culture, here in America no one focuses on mental or physical health like they do there too, and the ability to have almost everything fresh even within a place like Walmart is astounding.
That’s adorable how he lets Haku and Nagi sniff and look at everything. Just shows the bond between him and his cats. They watch with such interest it seems that they are almost human, that they are extremely interested in what their dear owner is doing. It’s just so cute.

He's talking about the bottom half of the coffee siphon. It's a Hario Coffee Syphon with the upper chamber missing. Lots of chefs in japan use it for making daishi stock. It's quite interesting.
@Brady Pyl Oh he's heating up the liquor in it because he wants the ethanol(alcohol) to turn into vapor. It makes it easier to ignite, which he does later, and changes the taste of the liquor itself. The bottom half of the siphon is ideal because it's shape gives more surface area to make contact with the heat. The finished product should taste slightly sweet and have zero bite from the alcohol (it should "smooth").
@@Xantosdude ethanol and alcohol is different concentrate. Most liquor throw away it's ethanol content bcuz it's poisonous that's why you will heard someone dies from poisonous moonshine home distillery. Boy do you know what you talking about? Also you can't separate the orange and the alcohol just by burning it since it's already infused.
@@fredrikmudas I'm not sure where you're getting your information from, but Ethanol is a type of alcohol. It's the ONLY alcohol found in food/liquors. People die from moonshine distilleries because of methanol poisoning (lower vaporize point) from the old vehicle radiators they used to use in the stills. To be fair, I haven't touched chemistry since my undergrad, so things may have changed. As for alcohol and orange... it seems to be common enough that the french have a technique called flambé with those principles in mind. If you have new info feel free to post them.
I use a different technique but the result is still the same. 1. Cut stem to create a stable base 2. Lay people upside down so pointy end is upward 3. With a sharp knife cut curve planes from top to bottom following the shape of the pepper, make sure to leave the white bits attached to base of pepper. Check RUclips lots of videos on that technique
I'm sure he has his own concerns as well... I mean who doesn't But watching this makes you feel at ease, I'm sure cooking does him the exact same thing.

bruh everyone's talking about the salt rock or the silicone lids but HE JUST TOOK THE HANDLE OFF OF A PAN??? THAT'S SO GENIUS
No joke when I had first saw this I needed that pan in my life because so many recipes call for cast iron pans or oven safe pans and regular pans and the idea of just using 1 dish for both is brilliant
i actually didn't even notice until i read this comment and had to go back and find it (the pan in oven step)
it happened so fast i guess i just thought he stuck a whole oven safe pan in there??
Lol I acutally have one :))
I've seen those kinds in shops but I've never had one. I'm wanting to cook more as I don't really do much, only the occasional thing and the rest is usually from the freezer.
You can get these pans at the Asian Supermarket.
Jun: now add salt *brings out crystalized salt and a grater*
Me: d-does storebought work too?
It's Himalayan salt rock, depending on your area, you might find stores that sell it
That's a very elegant thing...

Who else just loves how aesthetic Jun’s kitchen is. Like I dream to have that kitchen
that isn't really a kitchen. the kitchen is elsewhere. that's more like a hobby bar they made area with portable cook ware.
Cats don't have owners, they have servants ...

Everyone’s talking about the salt and the kids and I’m just like why is no one talking about that burning beaker tool thing with the alcohol?
U mean lids?

Nobody's talking about how easily he took out the seeds from that pepper. I'm shook
Yeah! I need that in slo-mo!
0.o you don't already know how to do that?
He used a waster bowl
I use a different technique but the result is still the same.
1. Cut stem to create a stable base
2. Lay people upside down so pointy end is upward
3. With a sharp knife cut curve planes from top to bottom following the shape of the pepper, make sure to leave the white bits attached to base of pepper.
Check RUclips lots of videos on that technique
