If mechanics didn’t take off the skid plates 20 years ago we would all be getting another 4 miles to the gallon. One thing that holds a lot of traits is driving with a full skid plate and if you can fabricate one out of sheet aluminum or steel and it dramatically changes handling, very noticeable when driving through a pass on windy day! Keep in mind mid and rear skid plates also enhance mpg and has been proven! Try it out people.

Man! I love my 05 TDI wagon, I’ve always loved the fuel efficiency. Mine has 275,000 km’s and still goes as strong as new, you know, you deserve WAYYYY more subscribers. Keep it up!

Love these cars. I have a 02 Jetta ALH, with 285,000 Miles, just did a timing belt change and it has a clean bill of health. Avg. 42-43 MPG mixed driving, and it is still too much fun to drive. My father has 2 ALH's as well, 330,000 Miles and 420,000 Miles. Both original motors (no rebuild) and he tows his wave runner or quad with it and has absolutely no issues.

I'm looking for wagon diesel and one is for sale, it's priced 8k with 152k miles. Anything I should beware of?

Engines are pretty bullet proof just the timing belts and occasional injection pump. Nothing I’d worry about. I would be more concerned about the body and chassis components being worn. They are pretty affordable on MK4s but will add up if they have been neglected.
