    I'm convinced that animals pickup your energy vibe... when you're tired and sleepy they seem less alert and arrive on the scene. How many stories do people have falling asleep in a stand and waking up to a huge buck? 2 hours of sleep... send it!

    Based on rough math (not a STEM major so forgive me if there is a more precise measurement), with the speed of sound being 1100 ft/sec, distance to this deer being 114 ft (38 yards). If I remember the bow speed videos correctly Dan is shooting around 288 ft/sec. The sound will arrive in .1036 seconds while the arrow arrives a little more than a quarter of a second later .3958 sec. I had a very similar situation in Oklahoma two years ago. I could not believe how quickly that deer spun on his heels. The arrow flew exactly where intended but met nothing but dirt on the other end. Crazy what these animals are capable of. Loved the broad head testing, keep those coming as long as they will allow you on that ranch!

    Theres s great video on deers vision and how they cab run full speed threw the woods they see in slow motion . The professor says they can see the arrow in flight the way he explains it makes sense

    Tried the evolution Hyde during the elk season in Utah. Got a cow quartered away at 70 yards and she only went 20/30 yards. First time not shooting a fixed blade and it was a great entry/exit hole and great blood trail.

    It’s not sound that makes a deer duck. (Unless you’re shooting an extremely slow bow.) They can see something like 310 degrees and are very sensitive to moving objects. They see the arrow coming. I’m also convinced they can see the lighted nock a bit too. Obviously staying away from white, blue or yellow vanes and wraps can help with this.

    Would love to see you use a rage NC trypan. Good stuff as usual and I just got back from hunting Javalina and l used the grim reaper razor tip 3 blade and they performed well. Every year I use a different head and if they do well I carry them into the deer season. I have used Sevr, dead meat, rage nc, grim reaper carnifour, grim reaper razor tip 1 3/8”.

    Whitetail are jumpy! Love them! I too agree hybrid is way to go…. Just incase. I’ve had some very weird things happen to me with a two blade mechanical this year. I even had a beast hit and change directions completely which stunned me. 505 grain arrow. 19+ FOC. 285fps. I like the micro hybrid by from the best so far as my tests. Great pod!

    Great review of expandable broadheads. I would have liked to see the Beast in that group. I used the Beast in Kansas and I was really impressed, especially with my 27" draw length and only shooting 60 lbs.

    I know you guys don't like setups like mine but ive tested on whitetails in Missouri had a bad experience with mega meat for sure. I shoot heavier arrows around 550 to 560 with cutthroat, iron will and vpa single bevels hand sharpened by me and the deer just don't go 30y almost always. I think the heavier setup dosent make them run off like crazy they just kinda jump and trot off. Ive tried the 450 to 480 with expandable and I have got them but it almost always a 100y or more tracking job. Just my experience testing myself

      What's your current bow setup out of curiosity?

    • @mikeferreira3879
      @mikeferreira3879 День назад +1

      @elswapo I'm shooting a few different bows. I have a hoyt rx7 ultra, an rx7 a v3x 33 and a mathews vertix. To be honest I hunt most of the time with my mathews vertix. That bow is money for me. 28.25" draw around 77 pounds. 75 mods with a couple of twist in the cabels. The hoyt 80lbs. I have every arrow made lol but I really like standard size arrows for hunting because all of the components are so much tougher. That said I also hunt with 5mm fmj 250 spine, day six 4mm 275 spine and black eagle x impacts 250 spine. I have all my own equipment and do all my own work and tuning. I shoot 150g single bevels and 125g single bevels both have preformed amazing. I'm sure 100 g would work just as good I just like big solid built broadheads that's why I prefer the 150g cutthroats but iron will have also been amazing

    You know raspberry talks about this a lot how they don't really duck they actually like twist and spin off like they're going to run away and you know another thing I've been saying it for the longest time I believe 100% they hear the Arrow coming

    I shot grim reapers this year. Multiple different ones anywhere from all the ones you're talking about to the carnivore to the whitetail special. The whitetail special extreme four blade and half the time they worked out great. The other half of the time I had deflections major deflections one of them that ran it down the side of a deer half of its body cut all this fur off. I seen it two days later and had to kill it. It was all right but I was afraid it was going to get an infection. So I'm a I'm up in the air about them still. If you're completely broadside it's all right. But any kind of quartering. I don't know if I'd go for it

    The whole topic of broadheads is so very interesting.
    My only big disappointment with this podcast is, Josh really needs to get his bad language under control.
    I still will support him and his store but this type of language on line is very rough.

    What about for elk immersion you can break up the activities. So you can buy and go to just the stuff you want to. Like I want my bow setup and learn to call elk. So divide it up it makes the cost lower for those who prefer that or the people that want the whole experience can have it. It caters to everyone if it’s doable. Thanks guys!

      I was just about to say the same. A budget friendly “class”. Logistics probably only make sense for mfjj or dan though for their time. Couldn’t see where the price would be cheap enough but still maintain a good profit for some one like turner to show up for a day.
